Stampin’ Up! Petal Garden Thank You

Well.  Here we are.  The day before I leave for Florida.

And I’m all packed – all my card making stuff, my clothes, some kitchen stuff, more card making stuff.  Paper, punches, TIEF, Thinlits, Framelits, inks, ribbons.

All ready to go – all I have to do is get my rental car, pack it up and I’ll be off.

LOLOLOLOL!!!

I so hope you didn’t believe any single teeny-tiny part of that!!

I’ve put my sandals on top of my suitcase.  That’s the extent of my packing.

Been a little busy.  Also – don’t really want to go, which puts me into slow-roll mode, for sure!

I have, though, made a couple of cards!  Like this one, that uses the pretty new Petal Garden DSP Stack paper and a little sentiment from the One Big Meaning stamp set.  Take a look-see:

The layout – and to some extent the colors and flowers – are inspired by the Sugar Pea Challenge this week.

I started with a Whisper White panel that I embossed in the new Ruffled Dynamic TIEF.  Then I SNAILd it to a Powder Pink mat.

My two middle panels are from the Petal Garden DSP Stack, and are both matted on Powder Pink.

I SNAILd the bottom panel to the card front and then stamped a sentiment from the One Big Meaning stamp set in Old Olive ink.

I popped the sentiment panel over the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and the card front was done!

Yes – done!  That Petal Garden DSP did all the work, didn’t it??  Easy peasy.

On the inside, I used a pretty flower image from the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set and stamped it a few times in Calypso Coral – without re-inking.  Then I added a few Old Olive leaves, also from Beautiful Bouquet – these I stamped off once before I stamped the Whisper White panel.

I SNAILd the panel to a Powder Pink mat and into my Pool Party card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got a repeat of the Calypso Coral flowers and Old Olive leaves from Beautiful Bouquet on the front…

…and then I added more of the Petals Gardens DSP Stack paper to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  As I said in my video last week, this Petal Garden DSP is “busy” paper.  But – as was pointed out to me – in small doses – it works!!  And – those pretty flowers – already printed and ready to go (just add a sentiment) – are perfect for a quick, easy and gorgeous card! And how well did Beautiful Bouquet work into the theme!?!  Hope you like!

Finn-Fan Fix…

If you ordered catalog shares – the good news is that the Eastern Palace Paper came off the backorder list and it should be here tomorrow.

Thanks to my most-wonderful husband – who tagged in while I was working these past couple of days – the shares should all go out by Saturday.

Finn did what Finn does during the day.  Although he might have contributed a Finn-y hair here and there (no extra charge!).

It’s pretty sweet, really.  His routine is so dovetailed into ours and seems to suit him (and us!) so well.  He likes to sleep almost as much as he likes to play and he does each at pretty regular times of every day.  He’s an awful sweet boy.

He also took a little time to provide moral support to Wayne during a candy bar break.

I mean – I suppose he might have been interested in the candy bar, but….

  1. Believe it or not, I really like that DSP…it reminds me of my mother. She was 93 when she passed 14 years ago. I wish she were around to make cards with me. Sweet pics of Wayne and Finn. Your hubbie is a keeper! and well, Finn…wild horses couldn’t make you give him up 🙂 Oh, and I DID believe everything 😉

    • LOL!! Well, hopefully by tonight all I wrote will be true! I’ve got the shares done (thank you, Wayne!!), cards made thru Monday – and ready to do a video on Sunday!…so I’ve run out of excuses. Haver to pack!! I’m sorry you’re missing your mom, Karen. 🙁 Thanks so much for the kind words!

So, didn’t you sleep last night? One of your comments came through at 4:09 a.m.
You are a ‘git r done’ person, so you will get everything done that has to be done.
Wayne and Finn make a good pair.
Oh, BTW, beautiful card!:-) It is in my order, so maybe I can make a quick, easy, pretty card with some of it. Wasn’t sure on the color combo, but it works and I like it. Pretty dynamic Tief, but somehow I overlooked that one. HMMM, I see another order building!

    • I just ordered every TIEF I didn’t already have. Seemed easier that way! Was up early today – worrying over the rest of the to-do list and whether I’ll able to get a big enough rental card to take all my stuff! Thanks much, Julie – you’ll love the paper. And – my motto is “trust the SU! designers” when it comes to color combinations. They’re pretty clever! 🙂

AND, I believed it too!!! You are a tease!

  4. Oh, beautiful card Mary! Love your layers and your DSP is perfect. Great design! Those shares look pretty amazing! Glad that you had a little help from the two guys in your life. 😉

  5. Kathleen VanDeVeere

I was mildly skeptical, but have no doubt you’ll git ‘er done. With your two helpers pitching in, it’s a sure thing.
The card is beautiful, and perfect in rosy June.

    • Thanks, Mom. One of the helpers might be a little help than the other…if you know who I mean! We’ll get it done! 🙂

  6. Paula Poindexter

I was believing you were ready to rumble!
    Love the card btw.
    Must ask…what does TIEF mean?
    Safe travels tomorrow!

    • Thanks, Paula – I will be ready. Just not…quite…yet!! 🙂 TIEF = Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Sorry – guess I should always spell out an acronym the first time you use it in a document!!

      • Paula

LoLoLoLoLoL Of Course! Should have figured that out. But thanks for keeping me informed.
Oh, and you don’t have to answer… Was telling my other half about you and he asked what type of engineer you were..He listed a few and I was fairly confident in ruling out the Rail Road one. LoLoLoLoLoL

      • Hahahahaha!! I been working on the railroad!! LOL. Nope. My degree is Mechanical Engineering. But I haven’t really used it since the day I graduated! 😉

  7. Karen L.

Geez, did you say you were going to be gone a whole month?? I don’t know how you can do such a long time away from home & your “two” men in your life!! Happy Packing!! Love the use of the DSP…..there are other ways to use if besides just backgrounds!

    • It’s actually two months, but who’s counting?!?! We’ve kind of grown accustomed to it – been doing it a long time, now! It’s getting harder for me – I’m less and less okay with being gone! Thanks so much, Karen! 🙂

  8. Susan K

Wow, that DSP make a pretty base for the sentiment. I love those quick and easy cards, esp when they look so good! I was really feeling behind in my packing for three weeks away until I got to your LOLs! You will get it done but I foresee a long night for you! Good luck. Two months is a long time! Do you get to go home on weekends? (I do!)

    • Hey Susan – I’m glad you get to go home on the weekends!! We’re doing a test that will keep us occupied pretty much 24/7 while I’m there, so no weekends. But – that’s okay. Two months is doable. We did 2 YEARS where I lived in Alabama and Wayne stayed in Atlanta. That was PSU (pre-Stampin’ Up!). Just got done getting all my card stuff that I’m taking (would be a much smaller list to say what I’m NOT taking!). Now just need to do clothes and the other boring stuff! And you’re right – that DSP is a great starting point, isn’t it?? Thanks so much! 🙂

Oh I love how you combined the sketch and inspiration photo Mary. Such a beauty. Happy you played with us at SugarPea Designs.

  10. Lots going on with you, very pretty flowers on your design. Thank you for sharing at SugarPea this month!
