Stampin’ Up! Woodland Lovely Friends Sneak Peek

Mornin’, y’all!  Hope this post finds you well!

My card for today is another sneak peek – this time of the Lovely Friends stamp set and the bundled Lovely Laurels Thinlits.  I added a little bit of the Delightful Daisy DSP – sooooo pretty!! – and an old favorite…the Woodland TIEF!!  Take a look-see:

I played along with the Global Design Project challenge – which is a CASE The Designer challenge.

And my color scheme is inspired by the Sunday Stamps color challenge.

I started with a pretty Olive Green panel from the Delightful Daisy DSP (coming 1 June!) and I ran it thru one of my favorite embossing folders – the Woodland TIEF.  Then I matted it on a piece of Peekaboo Peach card stock.

I worked with the corner square element in the inspiration card and made a frame and sentiment panel.  I cut the sentiment panel from a piece of Whisper White, using a square Stitched Shapes Framelit.  The frame is two pieces – one in Always Artichoke and one in Whisper White.  I cut both of the frames with a scalloped square die in the Squares Layering Framelits – using two adjacent-sized dies.  To make the frame, I used the same square-sided die to cut the center out of both pieces.  I used Liquid Glue to adhere the two frames together.

I stamped the sentiment from the Lovely Friends stamp set (1 June).  I inked “Feeling Very” in Crumb Cake and stamped it first.  Then I cleaned my stamp and inked up “Blessed” in Old Olive and stamped it under the first portion of the sentiment.  I also added some Peekaboo Peach flourish images in the corners of the panel.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the sentiment panel and then popped the frame over it with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The floral decoration is all from Lovely Friends and the matching Lovely Laurel Thinlits.  I stamped several large and small flowers – these are all two-step images.  I used Peekaboo Peach and stamped the first image (the fill-in) in full strength or stamped-off-once ink.  Then I added the second step image.  I also stamped several where I only used the second step – some in full strength Peekaboo Peach and some in stamped off once ink.  I cut them all out with their matching dies with the Lovely Laurel set.

I cut a few leaves from Old Olive and Always Artichoke.  Then I built the arranegement with Liquid Glue and Stampin’ Dimensionals, adding a few loops of LinenThread, too.  Finally, I used some new Glitter Enamel Dots (avail 1 June) in pale Crushed Curry and Old Olive and added them to the larger flowers.  The small flowers got a Pearl Basic Jewel Embellishment, and the card front was done.

On the inside, I just added a Peekaboo Peach flourish and some Pear Pizzazz dots (both from Lovely Friends!) in the corners of a Whisper White panel.

I SNAILd the panel to a Peekaboo Peach mat and into my Always Artichoke card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more of the Lovely Friends flourishes and dots on the front…

…and a little more of the Delightful Daisy DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I love the versatility and diversity of the Delightful Daisy DSP.  And the sentiments in Lovely Friends are…lovely?? 😏…and quite varied, too!  I hope you like!

Finn-Fan Fix…

I’ve got some bad news, folks.

Finn has become a paparrazi-phobe.

Yes, it’s true.

He gets himself in a cute position, holds his lips adorably, tilts his head perfectly.  And then…

…as soon as I pull out the camera…

…he moves.

Which is all to say that I don’t have a new picture of the Diva.

Can boys be divas??  I don’t know.

But since he became the teacher’s pet at class the other day – he’s been pretty slippery in the photo-op department.

So…I took a picture of something that couldn’t move.

That’s my veggie plants from the Territorial Seeds company.  They’re resting on my recently compost-refreshed bed.  I’ll wait another day or so before I get them planted – I think the chicken and mushroom compost I put in on Sunday is still a little too hot!

This year I’m planting EIGHT Ancho Magnifico plants!!  Chile Rellleno casseroles in my future!!  Yumm!!

Hopefully I’ll get sneakier and have a pic of Himself for you tomorrow!

  1. What a beautiful card Mary! I love the framing around your sentiment and your layered flowers are beautiful! Great design!

  2. You take elements I am not fond of, put them together and make me LOVE them! Your cards are always so exquisite. Do you sell them? hoard them? or mail most of them? We have had a problem with thrips on our pepper plants and white flies on our tomatoes. It’s just too hot in Florida to have a great garden. Chili Relleno casserole sounds yummy. If you get any spare time, could you email the recipe? Finn, Finn, Finn…don’t you realize you are disappointing your fan club?!!

    • LOL – thanks so much, Karen! I sell them when folks want them – either the ones I make for posts or I’ll do the custom card, too. And I pile them up – here, there and everywhere!! 😉 The casserole IS yummy – will send it today! 🙂

  3. RitaR

Just love the color combo on your pretty card and especially like the double frame you created around your sentiment (that shows your training as an engineer …. a very artistic engineer). LOL

Your plants look wonderfully healthy …. is that a cold frame I see in your photo? Do you also raise chickens …. you mentioned chicken compost?

    • Thank you so much, Rita – nice of you! The plants I get shipped from Territorial Seed are always awesome – they package everything perfectly, and they send really healthy stock. That thing you see in the picture is a chicken wire cover to keep the critters and birds away from the beds when I start from seed! No chickens – I pay for chicken poop. Weird!!

  4. Kathleen VanDeVeere

    Very pretty card.
    Very rare … a humble star! 😃

  5. That frame you created is super! Love the sentiment and flowers. Beautifully done!

A beautiful card. I, too, love the Woodland TIEF. Great design and like to colors too. I am really a green person, just don’t like the new LLT! I hope I have time tomorrow to get an order off for some retiring things. Didn’t want to do it when the delivery would arrive to an empty house.
Finn must be one of those rare, humble dogs! Humility is rare these days, in any creature!

    • Yes – he’s a special kind of boy! Read that however you will! 😉 Thanks much, Julie – and have fun with your birding! And SU! ordering! 🙂

  7. Susan K

What a gorgeous card! I would never have thought to use the woodlands TIEF on that but it is perfect! Love your frame too. Et Voila–super de duper awesome! Finn is just building our anticipation–that sneaky pooch!

    • Yes, when a celebrity disappears for a while it simply adds to his “brand”!! LOL! Thanks so much, Susan – glad that you liked my card!! 🙂

  8. Annette Elliott

This is definitely a wow card using some cool sneak peeks, Mary! Love everything about your card and so that you also embossed the DSP. Just a fantastic card! Thanks for joining us at Sunday Stamps! this week! 🙂

  9. This is so very pretty! I love the idea of embossing the DSP background…such a creative idea! Thanks for playing along with us at Sunday Stamps this week.
