Stampin’ Up! Dragonflies in a Garden in Bloom

Happy hawwmp day, y’all!  Hope the week is going well for you!  I’ve been busy – I have a new plan up my sleeve.  Videos!  Card making videos!  I got a camera stand yesterday and set it up and did a “practice” run.  One day soon I’ll be doing one “for reals” and I’ll let you know where to find them.  I suspect they’ll be on my Stamps-n-Lingers Facebook page.  So, if you want to bebop over there and follow me, then you should get notification of when my videos are live! Here’s a link!

My card for today goes back to a beautiful Annual catalog stamp set called Garden in Bloom, with the addition of a little buzzy bee from the Occasions Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits.  Take a look-see:

This one ended up playing along with three challenges!  The first, from Mojo Monday, helped me with the layout.

mm485
My colors – and the chalkboard look – were drawn from this cute (and darned tasty looking!) cupcake from Cupcake Inspirations.

And finally, the Global Design Project challenge is a theme challenge this week.

gdp-075
I started this one, simply enough, by SNAILing a piece of So Saffron paper from the Subtles DSP Stack to a Blushing Bride mat.  Then I cut another piece of the Blushing Bride card stock and embossed it in the new Hexagon Dynamic TIEF.  That would go under the fun chalkboard paper, that came out of the Urban Underground Specialty DSP.

I took that piece of Urban Underground paper and stamped several images from the Garden in Bloom stamp set in Whisper White Craft Ink across the panel.  Then I SNAILd it to my Hexagon-embossed Blushing Bride card stock, and SNAILd it to the card front.

My sentiment banner is a piece of Whisper White card stock, punched with the Banner Triple Punch.  I added the sentiment from Garden in Bloom in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  Above the sentiment, I stamped another flower from Garden in Bloom in Tuxedo Black.  I covered it with a sticky note mask, and stamped a couple of leaves as well.  Then I used the rest of the fill-in images for the flower – stamping them both in Blushing Bride.  I stamped the leaves with Mint Macaron.  The middle of the flower is So Saffron.

The little bee is stamped in Tuxedo Black and colored with the So Saffron Stampin’ Write Marker.  I SNAILd the banner to the card front.

I used a piece of Crushed Curry Baker’s Twine and some Blushing Bride Solid Baker’s Twine and wrapped them twice around the card front.  Then I pulled the two strands together with a little bow.

I made some little “winged creatures” – two butterflies from the Garden in Bloom set and a bee from the Dragonfly Dreams bundle.  The two butterflies, stamped in Tuxedo Black and filled with Pink Pirouette/Blushing Bride and So Saffron/Crushed Curry, were fussy cut.  I added them to the card with Liquid Glue and then added some Pearl Basic Jewels.

For the Dragonfly Dreams bee….I stamped him in Tuxedo Black and cut him out with the die in the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits.  Then I used some Liquid Glue to adhere him to a piece of So Saffron card stock and then fussy cut him.  And, finally, I cut another bee in Vellum card stock, cut his little wings off (no – I never ever would do this for real – not now and not as a kid!!) and used a dab of glue from my Fine-Tip Glue Pen to adhere them to the bee.  And that was it for the card front.

On the inside, I added another Garden in Bloom sentiment in Tuxedo Black on a Whisper White panel.  In the corner, I added more flowers, filling them in with Pink Pirouette/Blushing Bride and So Saffron/Crushed Curry.  I covered them with the sticky note masks and added leaves in Mint Macaron.

I SNAILd the panel to a Blushing Bride mat and into my Basic Black card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done! 🙂

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more Garden in Bloom flowers and leaves on the front…

…the envelope flap got another little piece of So Saffron DSP.

Et Voila!  This is a really versatile card – good for so many occasions I can think of – Mother’s Day, Birthday, Any Day!  I love the sort of “hard” feel of the chalkboard against the flowers and soft colors of the Subtles DSP and the pretty blooms and butterflies from Garden in Bloom! And – the little bee from the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits is just too cute – especially with his Vellum wings! Hope you like!

FINN-FAN FIX….

Finn’s been spending his days between “helping” his dad saw lumber and “helping” me make cards.  Both tasks look roughly the same – chewing on things, sleeping, picking stuff up in his mouth, sleeping, meddling in things that aren’t his, sleeping… 😉
I have two pictures that sort of struck me.  Here’s one from back in Novemeber, shortly after he came to live with us…look at those feet!

finn-with-another-big-stick
And this one is from a couple days ago…

finn-with-another-big-stick-1
It’s a little hard to see size differences – but it’s easy to see that his “puppy” is disappearing!
But he sure still likes those giant sticks!!  Then bigger the better!
