Good morning, y’all – welcome to the first edition of the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop (formerly known as the Happy Stampers Blog Hop!)!  New name and look – same talented ladies and fun challenges!  We’ve got a color challenge this week – be sure to check out everyone’s project, okay?

Here’s the color scheme we’re working with.

I got my huge 2017 Occasions Catalog order the other day – it was so cool opening those two big boxes!!  The only problem was – I wanted to use everything at once!  I spent a little time trying to make a card with about 4 stamp sets and 3 die sets.

And an embossing folder. 😉

But I finally got ahold of myself and used a set I’d been anxious to play with since I first saw it – the Beautiful You stamp set.  I added some Sending Love DSP and the pretty Falling Petals TIEF and this is what I came up with.  Take a look-see:

I used a sketch challenge from Mojo Monday for some inspiration for the layout of my card.

mm-479-sketch
I started by embossing a panel of Whisper White card stock in the new Falling Petals TIEF.  Then I wrapped a piece of Real Red 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon and one of Gold 1/8″ Ribbon around the panel, securing them in back with scotch tape.  Then I matted it on a piece of Gold Foil.

The next layers are both pieces of the Sending Love DSP Stack paper, matted on Gold Foil.  The vertical strip is adhered directly to the card front with Liquid Glue, then I popped the scallop-matted circle on with Liquid Glue and Stampin’ Dimensionals.  The DSP circle was cut with a Stitched Shapes Framelits die, and the scalloped mat is from a Circles Layering Framelit.

My art work is an example of paper-piecing!  First off, I stamped the beautiful image from Beautiful You in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on a piece of Sending Love DSP (same design that I used on the layered circle).  Then I fussy cut the dress and hat.  Next, I stamped the same image in Tuxedo Black on my Whisper White square.  Using Liquid Glue, I carefully adhered the cut-out dress right over the same portion of the stamped image.

Then I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to stamp the Beautiful You sentiment in Real Red next to the dancing lady.  I matted the panel on Gold Foil and popped it on the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals and Liquid Glue.  To finish it all off, I added a few Pearl Basic Jewels.

On the inside, I stamped a second sentiment from Beautiful You in Tuxedo Black.  Over the top of that, I added one of the artsy swaths from the set – in stamped-off-once Real Red.  Note:  upon reflection, and seeing it in the photo – if you do this card, you might consider stamping the Real Red swath off twice before stamping your liner.  I like how this one looks – but you might want to lighten up the red! 🙂

I matted the panel on Gold Foil and into my Basic Black card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

For my Whisper White Medium Envelope, I added the Beautiful You dancer in Tuxedo Black on the front, then topped it with the other swath image in the set – again stamped-off-once…

…and then added more of the Sending Love DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I just love this stamp set!  It lets me be artsy and creative and…painterly?…without having any such talent of my own!  And the paper piecing technique works perfectly with these images.  Hope you like!
