Happy Hawwwmp Day, y’all!! We’re on the backside of the big freeze – supposed to be 70 on Friday! I’ll take it – it was so nice to have liquid water in the horse buckets and troughs this morning! We Deatherage’s don’t care for cold overmuch!
I spent some time today cutting Designer Paper to put my catalog shares together! And – I had a helper!!
I know it looks a lot like he’s sleeping, but…helping is in the eye of the beholder! Not saying he was in the way, or anything….maybe just a paw here or there.
He did a bit of “helping” the previous night, too – I’ll show you that in just a second…
My card for today uses the new So Detailed Thinlits and the So In Love stamp set. With a bit of Succulent Garden DSP. Take a look-see:
The layout is inspired by the CAS(E) This Sketch challenge this week.
And my color palette come from the Color Throwdown challenge:
I started off with a piece of Old Olive paper from the Succulent Garden DSP and I SNAILd it to a Melon Mambo mat. Then I pulled out the So Detailed Thinlits and cut one of the larger dies from Basic Black. Using Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue, I adhered the die cut to the bottom of the card front.
Next up, I cut a Whisper White oval with my Ovals Layering Framelits and adhered it with Liquid Glue over the So Detailed die cut. Then I wrapped some Melon Mambo Thick Baker’s Twine around the panel a few times, criss-crossing it over the white oval and securing it in the back with scotch tape. In my picture, my twine is a bit catty-wompass. Soon I’ll show you that it doesn’t even matter!
My sentiment is from the So In Love stamp set. Using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, I stamped the sentiment on a piece of Old Olive Card Stock. Then I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to add two leaf images in Old Olive around the sentiment. I cut it with another oval and matted it on a Melon Mambo scalloped oval.
Then I popped it over the baker’s twine with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
To finish it off, I added a few Melon Mambo circles from the Brights Enamel Shapes.
On the inside, I stamped several of the flowers from the So In Love stamp set in Tuxedo Black across the bottom of a Whisper White panel. Using the Melon Mambo Watercolor Pencil and a Blender Pen, I lightly colored the flowers. Then I matted the panel on Melon Mambo and Whisper White.
I SNAILd it into a Basic Black card base. For the front of the card, I first SNAILd a piece of Whisper White directly to the card base, then I popped my card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!
My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more of the So In Love flowers in Tuxedo Black, colored with the Melon Mambo Watercolor Pencil on the front…
…and a little more of the Succulent Garden DSP on the envelope flap.
Et Voila! The So Detailed Thinlits have 3 gorgeous dies in the set – and they all three cut wonderful delicate shapes. You’re going to want to have these in your tool chest! I kind of love how this card turned out – and hope you like!

P.s. Oh yes. I mentioned that Finn had “helped” me a little more. And that my catty-wampus baker’s twine didn’t matter. Putting those two clues together, I suspect the next picture (it’s disturbing – your children shouldn’t see it probably!) will not be overly surprising.
Yes – that happened. And yes, he still walks among us – it was my own fault. But…dang! 🙁

Well…it really was a beautiful card! I think that I’d still be crying over it. Bummer, but at least you had some photographic evidence that you made it before Finn got ahold of it. Apparently paper and glue tastes quite yummy! 🙂
Yes – he loves Stampin’ Up! card stock! I was pretty bummed – but…he’s a mouth-on-wheels, so. My bad. Would have been worse if I dan’t gotten my pictures!! :0
JOLIE TA CARTE
Thanks, Nathalie! 🙂
I had to laugh at your disaster at the end. We have a 7 month old puppy named Lilly. She is a mix between Sheltie and a rat terrier. Cutest thing you ever seen but one of the most rambunctious pups you have ever seen. She does that all the time gets a card off my Stamping table and tears it into pieces. I get so upset. It’s a good thing that I make two of every card I design I say. I know she totally understands me.
Cammi Waggoner
Glad I’m not the only one with a “helper”!! Thanks, Cammi – and thanks for sharing!! 🙂
Oh my goodness-I was so shocked to see that beautiful creation in shreds-and that Finn is still among us! Glad you had pictures of the before, or he may not have been around today! 🙂
Ha – he got a pretty good scolding but…he’s a dog doing what dogs do. I was SO happy I’d gotten my pictures!! Thanks, Jari! 🙂
Yes, that WAS a beautiful card!!! I did have to lol when I read your remark “It was my own fault.” Spoken like a true animal lover ;D My husband says I would defend the dogs before I would him. Smart man!
My hubby is in the same boat! I figure we’ve got the opposable thumbs and the freakishly large brains, so… 🙂 Thanks much, Barb!! 🙂
Lions and tigers and dogs, oh my! It WAS a beautiful card. I will re-create it for you and then I’ll feel better. I hope you will do a card with the other two dies. I have no idea what I’m going to do with them. I DO love the one you used today and I made a card with the Dragonfly Dreams and the matching dies.
Oh – I love those Dragonfly stamps and dies!! I will most certainly do some kind of something with the other two dies – they’re too pretty! Thanks so much – and have fun making my pre-Finn Card! 🙂
Well Mary – that WAS a beautiful card – love the color combo. And that Finn! What a stinker lol!! Thank goodness he doesn’t have thumbs!!
God help us if he had thumbs!! Yikes! Thanks, Elisha! 🙂
