Stampin’ Up! Joyful Nativity Super Simple Single Stamp Set Christmas Card!

Happy Hawmp Day, y’all!  Or…as some folks might call it….Happy Thanksgiving Eve!  I’m guessing you’re getting your eggs boiled for the Deviled Eggs, the cream cheese softened for the Pumpkin Chocolate Cheesecake and the spinach dip.  Going to pick up your ham.

Oh wait.  That’s what I’m doing today!! 🙂  I know you’re doing your own version of it – so good luck with your preparations!

We, here in Finn-land, had a breakthrough last night.  For the first time since he came to live with us, Finn-Chewie spent the evening with us in the living room (as usual), out of the kennel and off-leash (the breakthrough)!!  And, he relaxed on the floor while Katy slept in my lap.  Leo even walked past him – like within 6 inches of his nose.  This is huge, folks! 🙂

I’ve been so focused on using the stamp sets and bundles from the 2016 Holiday Catalog, and showing you projects made with goodies on the Online Extravaganza list, and….giving sneak peeks from the Occasions and Sale-A-Bration catalogs, that I’ve kind of neglected the Annual Catalog.  So I remedied that today.  We’ve got a lovely new stamp set called Joyful Nativity and I used it today to make a very very clean and simple card.  It’s actually so clean that…it sort of terrified me to make it.  You’ll see why.  Take a look-see:

See the scary thing?

Yep.

It’s like the card-version of a white t-shirt.  It’s my kryptonite!  I spent the whole time putting it together waiting to get “the spot” on it.

Which was a self-fulfilling prophesy.

This isn’t the first iteration of the card.

Just sayin’!.

This one went along with a few challenges – the first is the Fusion-Joy challenge.

And I pulled my color scheme from the Stamps Ink Paper challenge.

Finally, it’s even more clean-and-simple than yesterday’s card, so I played along with The Paper Players again!

pp-332-sketch
I started by SNAILing a piece of Fancy Frost Specialty DSP (you can get this at 30% off during the Online Extravaganza) to the front of a Pool Party card base.  It’s the same size as the front of the card.

Then I cut a Whisper White panel and stamped the Joy sentiment from Joyful Nativity in Pool Party.  When it was dry, I gave the card a quick rub with my Embossing Buddy, and stamped the trumpeting angel in Versamark, then heat embossed her with Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder.

I matted the panel on Copper Foil – and that was it for the card front!  I admit I had to make myself set it aside without trying to add a little something…else!

On the inside, I stamped the nice sentiment from Joyful Nativity in Pool Party in the middle of a Whisper White panel.  Then I heat embossed the star image in Copper.

I SNAILd it on a Copper Foil mat and into the Pool Party card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got a Pool Party Joyful Nativity angel on the front…

…and a Copper-embossed star on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Now this is one I could definitely see making a whole set of and gifting to someone for their Christmas-card-giving!  So quick and easy and elegant.  I just love the huge Joy sentiment – it’s simply perfect.  Hope you like! 🙂

  1. Mom

Free-wheeling Finn. He is really being his best self. As he surely should be, because he won the lottery when y’all showed up in his natal state to fetch him. Kitties notwithstanding, what’s not to love??? And even they are likely o.k. … enough … given the perks.

And this lovely card is wonderful too.

  2. Karen L.

Beautiful Card!! I really like the simplicity of it but yet it is very elegant!! WHAT!! No turkey on your table tomorrow?? I guess there are a few non-turkey eaters out there. Have a great Thanksgiving & enjoy the day. Thanks for sharing your cards & your family with us!

    • Well, I did pick up a smoked turkey breast while I snagged my Ham. I like theirs – but I’m not a huge fan of turkey! Thank you so much, Karen and Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours! 🙂

  3. Absolutely stunning Mary! I LOVE this!! CAS to perfection. Beautifully created. 🙂 Ginny wanted me to tell Finn that we just had a 10-point buck standing right outside our fence leisurely munching on berries. Ginny was dying to chase him, but we kept her inside. 😉

    • That be a big boy!! I know Finn would have liked a gander at him! Poor Ginny – she just wanted to say ‘sup?! Better to be safe inside, though, so good plan. Hopefully he’ll live another day! Thanks so much, Amy – I love this stamp set!! 🙂

Another fabulous creation, Mary! I love the clean simplicity of this, and the embossed angel is so beautiful. So glad you played along with us this week at The Paper Players and Stamp Ink Paper!

  5. Wow, Mary! This is simple elegance at it’s absolute best. Just beautiful. Thanks for joining us at the Stamp Ink Paper challenge this week, I’m so glad you did! Crystal

  6. Great CAS Christmas card and I love how you’ve used the color challenge. Thanks for sharing with the Paper Players this week.

  7. CAS perfection, Mary! I love the simplicity of your card! SO happy you joined us at The Paper Players this week! XX

  8. Debbie Bonczek

Love you card. That clean white space and the bronze. Beautiful card.

  9. A clean and simple card doesn’t get any better than this one! It’s amazing how a clean card can be so bold and beautiful! Thank you for playing the SIP challenge this week.

  10. Teeeeheee – I had to giggle as I was reading your post because white spots are my kryptonite too. I’m pretty sure all I have to do is look sideways at a clean and simple card, and just to spite me it will sprout an inky fingerprint. Well, even though it wasn’t your first iteration, it’s a beautiful design! Thank you for joining us at Fusion!
