Hey, y’all – here we are at Friday again. Here in GA we’re hunkering in our houses trying to avoid the smoke from the fires in GA, TN and NC. Seeing pictures on FB of horses in harms way, homes burned or in jeopardy. Please pray for all the humans and animals affected. Help them if you can. And pray for rain. Or snow. Or any sort of wet stuff to come from the sky! 🙁
As for us, as we hunker, we’re watching Finn grow! And become more and more of a “velcro” dog! His fave activity (well, one of them!) is to “help” me in the kitchen in the evening.
I wanted him to bond with me, and it appears he really has!
Now. This next picture may be disturbing to some of you as it shows the naked bottom of a 6 month old child. So, if you’re easily offended, please scroll down really fast!
I noticed something the other day. I have proof that my little kid is an angel. It’s written on his….bottom….
Right?? Tell me that doesn’t look like the picture of an angel. No. Don’t tell me cuz I won’t believe it. It’s a sign, I tell you!! 🙂
So anyway – on to my card for today. It’s almost as cute as my puppy!
One of the fun little things you’ll be able to get for FREE during Sale-A-Bration is a stamp set called “Hey, Chick”.
You’ve already seen me use a second product from the SAB flyer – the Carried Away DSP.
You can see that the paper stack has a bunch of different designs. I took one of them and the Hey, Chick stamp set, put them together, and this is what I came up with! Take a look-see:
Don’t you think that paper looks like an aerial view of farmland? It’s a natural with these cute chicks, I think.
My design for this card was based on the sketch from Mojo Monday this week – I just turned it on its side!
I took a piece of the farmland design in Carried Away and matted it on Watermelon Wonder card stock for the card front. Then I wrapped a length of Peekaboo Peach 3/8″ Ruched Ribbon around the panel, securing it in the back with scotch tape.
For the art work, I took a square of Whisper White and stamped two images from Hey, Chick on it. For the large hen image, I used my Watermelon Wonder, Peekaboo Peach and Night of Navy Stampin’ Write Markers to color the stamp directly, then used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to stamp it on the card stock square. I added the egg in Peekaboo Peach and then colored his legs with the marker.
I added some “ground” with my Smoky Slate Stampin’ Write Marker, and then made some Night of Navy stitches all the way around. I SNAILd it to its Watermelon Wonder mat and then to the card front.
The sentiment is also from Hey, Chick, stamped in Watermelon Wonder on Whisper White. I snipped a banner end with my Paper Snips and then added more Night of Navy “stitches”. Using a Stampin’ Dimensional and some Liquid Glue, I adhered it to the card front.
Finally, I added a Peekaboo Peach Ruched Ribbon bow with some Liquid Glue and that was it for the card front! 🙂
On the inside, I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to add a second Hey, Chick sentiment in Watermelon Wonder in the middle of a Whisper White panel. Then I stamped a bunch of Peekaboo Peach egg-people across the bottom, and added the hen peeking in from the side. I used the same marker-to-rubber inking technique as I did on the front of the card.
I SNAILd the panel to a Watermelon Wonder mat and into a Night of Navy card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!
My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another Hey, Chick hen and egg-person on the front – plus some more Night of Navy stitches…
…and more of the Carried Away DSP to the envelope flap.
Et Voila! I loved this little Hey, Chick set when I first saw it at OnStage – so had to get it right away! I never would have figured to use the Carried Away DSP with some chickens, but…it’s pretty versatile paper, it seems! Hope you like – and will put these on your list to get free during Sale-A-Bration. 🙂
