Stampin’ Up! Cable Knit and Pines Noel

Hey, y’all!  Hope the weekend’s going well for you.  We had a bit of an….incident on Friday evening….

And it was totally on Wayne.

Not me.

For which I am oh-so-grateful!

When we feed the horses in the evening, we fill a container with Beet Pulp and Hay pellets and one with Alfalfa hay cubes, and fill them with water. Then they soak for an hour or so while everyone is eating their dinner.  Around 8:30 or so, we go back out, put the girls out in the pasture, and give the now-soaked-and-easy-to-chew pellets and cubes to Bo.

Did you know that horses’ teeth grow until the – essentially “run out”?  They wear them down with the grinding motion when they chew.  When they get old (Bo’s 26), the teeth stop growing – they “run out” – and then they don’t meet in the back the way they need to to chew hay or grass efficiently.  If they reach that point and aren’t supplemented, well….they die.  If you’re one of my horses, then your staff will always be there to provide easy-to-chew food.  It’s especially good if it’s $20 for a 50lb sack!  The staff loves that! 😉

Anywho….on Friday, I was busy blogging so I asked Wayne if he’d do the second round.  About 10 minutes after he left the house, my phone rang.

This is never good news.

I thought someone – likely Bo – was colicing (should there be a “k” in there?  I don’t know!) – and that we were in for a long night

Well.  We were in for a long night, but Bo wasn’t sick.  This is what I heard:

“I left the d%^& water on in the sink and it overflowed and flooded the entire tack room!!”

To which I responded “You’ve got to be kidding me”.

He wasn’t.

We spent the next couple of hours shop-vac’ing the tack room.  Our neighbor came up with his vac and we have two.  Also sucked the wet feed out of the sink – the culprit in the overflow.

Finn, meanwhile, was asked to stay on the golf cart.  Which he did.

Around 9 or so, his usual “bed time”, he….went to bed.

I’d shucked my hoodie and put it on the golf cart seat, so when he got tired, he just hopped up and made himself comfortable!

I know.  He’s ridiculously sweet.  And he’s got a bit of “couch potato” in him, which works well since his mom has a pretty good bit of that as well!

So that was our adventure on Friday!  Fun, huh? The glamorous life of horse owners! 🙂

I did actually make a card for you – guess you’d maybe like to see it?  For this one, I used the Christmas Pines stamp set and the matching Pretty Pines Thinlits, the Hang Your Stocking Thinlits, and the cool Cable Knit Dynamic TIEF.  Take a look-see:

This card design was inspired by the Freshly Made Sketches challenge this week:

I started by embossing a Whisper White panel in the Cable Knit Dynamic TIEF.  BTW – Stampin’ Up! is bringing another of the “Dynamic” folders to us in the 2017 Occasions Catalog.  The Hexagons Dynamic TIEF is part of the manly Urban Underground Suite.

I can’t wait to emboss some Silver Foil with that to make a fun tool box card for Wayne!

But, I digress!  I embossed the Whisper White panel in the Cable Knit TIEF.  The next piece is a Cherry Cobbler die cut that I made using the Christmas Stockings Thinlits.  I adhered the sentiment to the card front with some Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue – making sure I’d moved it far enough to the right to accommodate my art piece.  I snipped off the excess, and glued that to the left side of the card – to make it look like it’s as long as my card.  The die cut is actually sized for a 4 1/4″ card (so…portrait).

The art piece is made with the Christmas Pines stamp set and bundled Pretty Pines Thinlits.  First, I stamped the pine bough image in Emerald Envy and the second part of the pine bough image with Mint Macaron on Whisper White.  Then I cut out just a portion of the image using an oval die from the new and wonderful Stitched Shapes Framelits!  I cut a Cherry Cobbler scalloped oval with an Ovals Layering Framelits die and adhered them together with Liquid Glue.  Then I adhered it to the card front with a little more Liquid Glue.

My pine cone is made from some Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper, that I colored with my Gold Wink of Stella.  I don’t have any of the Gold Glimmer Paper – and I actually like this look better anyway.  It’s a little softer and a little more organic, I think.  I colored a large enough piece for the pine cone I needed and then I let it dry while I folded some laundry.

I could have used my Heat Tool, but I figured…how terribly domestic and efficient of you, Mary!  I was quite pleased with myself.  It was the whites load, too – my least favorite. 😉

I cut my colored glimmer paper with a die from the Pretty Pines Thinlits, and cut a backer from Early Espresso card stock.  I also cut a little Cherry Cobbler berry sprig.

I adhered the berries, then the pine cone with Liquid Glue.  Using a couple of Glue Dots, I added two Mini Pinecones, and then a bow made with the Bakers Twines in the Baker’s Twine Trio Pack in the Holiday Catalog.

And then I pulled the bow off and took it apart, cuz that was Garden Green Baker’s Twine and it looked wrong.  I remade the bow – this time with Emerald Envy Solid Baker’s Twine – and stuck it back on.  Then I SNAILd the whole thing to a Cherry Cobbler mat and the card front was done!

On the inside of the card, I did another pine bough from Christmas Pines – this time stamping each image off once before stamping it on the card.  I used Emerald Envy and Mint Macaron just like on the front.  I added a sentiment from the Christmas Pines set in Cherry Cobbler.  Then I SNAILd it to a Cherry Cobbler mat.

And then I tried to put my portrait-oriented inside liner into my landscape-oriented Emerald Envy card base.

Guess how well that worked?? 😉

I think I need to make more landscape cards – I go on autopilot and the next thing I know I have to re-do my liners!

I also cut a little Cherry Cobbler bow with the Pretty Pines Thinlits and adhered it with some Liquid Glue.  I SNAILd it into my Emerald Envy card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and it was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another of the Emerald Envy and Mint Macaron pine boughs from Christmas Pines on the front…

…and I added the pine bough and a pine cone and bow to the back.  The pine cone is two-step – the back is Crumb Cake and the top stamp is Early Espresso.  The bow is in Cherry Cobbler and adhered with Liquid Glue.

Et Voila!  More of my favorite pine boughs and cones for Christmas – paired with the wonderful Cable Knit Dynamic TIEF!  Hope you like!
