Stampin’ Up! Christmas Greetings from Santa!

Good morning, y’all – our first morning with…Finn?  Maybe.  We’ve been using that since we picked him up.  He responds to it as well as to  anything else!

He had a pretty long day, poor baby!  Long car ride home – he was pretty antsy by the time we finally made it to the house.  But, for all he was nervous and worried about what the heck was going on, his way of dealing with it in the van was…

And, after we stopped and got some dinner and I moved to the front seat…

Please note the size of the hands and feet.  We met his daddy.  We’re talking 70 pound Aussie.  I fear Mr. Finn may match him!

So far, he’s a good boy – a very very smart boy.  He’s not had any leash training, but you can almost literally see his brain turning as he’s learning – even in the midst of the stress of his first day as a Deatherage.  I think he’s going to be a whole ton of fun! 🙂

Oh – and Mr. Wayne, who tried to make me think he’d been coerced?  Yea.  He’s already in love.  Big ole fraud….

My card for today was simple and quick to make.  It uses the Greetings from Santa stamp set and the Christmas Greetings Thinlits.  Add in a little Gorgeous Grunge and that’s all it needed. Take a look-see:

This one follows along with this week’s CAS(E) This Sketch challenge #194:

I went pretty old school with my color scheme – Cherry Cobbler, Emerald Envy and Whisper White.

To begin, I tried a new – for me! – kind of card front.  I cut a piece of the Warmth & Cheer DSP to the same size as the actual front of the Cherry Cobbler card base – 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ – and adhered it with Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.  Then when I cut the secondary card front – I ended up with the pretty Cherry Cobbler plaid as a nice frame!

For the actual card front, I used a piece of Whisper White card stock, and stamped the too-cute little Christmas tree from Greetings from Santa in Emerald Envy in a line.  Then I made 4 little sticky note masks – really roughly cutting them out – and covered the trees.

I pulled out the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set and inked up the lines image in Cherry Cobbler.  I stamped it off once on scrap paper and then stamped over my masked trees.  Then I did it again.  Next I used the large dots image, again in stamped-off-once Cherry Cobbler.

For my sentiment, I began with the Merry Christmas image in the Greetings from Santa stamp set – but I only inked the word Christmas in Cherry Cobbler.  Using my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, I stamped it over the trees.

With the Christmas Greetings thinlit, I cut two Merry’s in Cherry Cobbler, and one from the same Warmth & Cheer DSP design that I’d used for my card front.  Using Liquid Glue, I built up a stack, ending with the plaid version.  Then I used a little more Liquid Glue to add it to the card front, letting it overlap the word Christmas.

I SNAILd the panel to an Emerald Envy mat and then popped it over my plaid card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals – and that was it for the front of the card!

On the inside, I repeated the Emerald Envy trees in the bottom corner of a Whisper White panel.  Then I masked them off and added some Gorgeous Grunge lines and dots in stamped-off-once Cherry Cobbler.

I also repeated my plaid treatment from the front of the card, adhering a piece of the Warmth & Cheer DSP to the inside of the card with Liquid Glue.  Then I SNAILd the Whisper White panel to an Emerald Envy mat and then to the plaid panel.  And the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got a couple more Greetings from Santa Emerald Envy trees and Gorgeous Grunge textures on the front…

…and some Warmth & Cheer DSP on the envelope flap.  And since I think that’s just the cutest Christmas Tree, I added one more on the back, just for ducks!

Et Voila!  Clean.  Simple.  Easy.  I think this would make a great design for a set of Christmas cards.  Hope you like!
