Good morning, y’all! How’s your week going? I started mine with a trip to the doc – you know, to get some prescriptions refilled. Cuz, they gotta listen to your chest, ask you the same questions they asked 6 months ago, take some blood – right after telling you that the tests from 6 months ago look just fine. And then dispense the scripts.
Oh – and send the bill to the insurance. Don’t forget that piece, right?
I like my doc, don’t get me wrong. But…seems a bit like a money-making endeavor, to me.
And I learned a little lesson – one that I knew, but apparently had to relearn. I have an ankle that’s been giving me some angst – I suspect it’s from an old sprain. I asked if she’d look at it.
And then drove over to the Outpatient x-ray place – which is where she sent me right after pushing around on my ankle a bit.
So my 30 minute appointment turned into 3 hours. And guess what’ll be the outcome? “Looks like you maybe sprained it a couple years ago….did you? Oh, and you’re getting old, so….” 🙂
Sheesh.
Oh – the lesson? Never, ever confess to anything “wrong” at the doctor’s (unless you want to spend half a day running around doing tests and stuff!). I learned that long ago in my previous life, but….guess it slipped my mind!
But, I still had time to make a card – so I did! This one uses the Paisleys & Posies stamp set, for the pretty sentiments, and Vintage Leaves, for an autumn-y touch. I added some of the Petals & Paisleys DSP. Take a look-see:
For my design, I used the sketch over at RetroSketches this week. Sketch challenge #232:
I started by SNAILing a panel of the Copper-embossed Petals & Paisleys DSP to a Cajun Craze mat. I SNAILd a second, smaller, piece to another Cajun Craze mat and then SNAILd that to the card front.
I used some Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to adhere a 2015-2017 In Color Doily – in Mint Macaron – to the center panel. Over that, I ran a length of 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon and a piece of Mint Macaron 3/8″ Sheer Linen Ribbon.
My sentiment, from Paisleys & Posies (this is one of my fave sentiments ever!), I stamped in Versamark on Very Vanilla card stock, and heat embossed it with Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder. It’s matted on Cajun Craze and then popped over the ribbons with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I stamped a Vintage Leaf in Versamark on Very Vanilla, heat embossed it in Copper, and cut it with its matching Leaflet die. Then I used some Liquid Glue and a Stampin’ Dimensional to adhere it to the sentiment panel and card front.
I added a few Cajun Craze Enamel Shapes and that was it for the card front!
On the inside, I stamped a second sentiment in Cajun Craze on a Very Vanilla panel. Then I heat embossed the Vintage Leaf in Copper down in the corner.
I SNAILd it to a Cajun Craze mat and into my Mint Macaron card base. The card front’s popped on with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and that finished the card off!
My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got another Copper-embossed Vintage Leaf on the front…
…and an envelope flap from the pretty Cajun Craze-design Petals & Paisleys DSP.
Et Voila! Vintage Leaves – pretty paisley paper – and a great sentiment all add up to a pretty Fall card. Thank you card? Just grateful to a friend card? Yep – could be any of those things! Hope you like! 🙂

So pretty Mary! Love the copper embossing with the Mint Macaron accents. Beautifully created! Bummer on the 3+ hours of sitting and waiting only to find out what you already knew about your ankle…getting old stinks. 😉
It ain’t for sissys, that’s for sure! Thanks, Amy! 🙂
Very nice. Love the inside sentiment.
Thanks, Mom! 🙂
Ain’t it the truth!!!! Who ever said these are the “golden years” must have been a little high on meds!! It’s TOUGH getting old!! Love the card…….the sentiment is great. Keep on rollin’!
Thanks, Karen! Golden. Yea. Right! 🙂
First off sorry to hear your ankle is bothering you and I’ll double your sheesh when it comes to the medical industry.
Now, on to your beautiful, card – I LOVE how you interpreted that challenge. I love each and every element of this card!
Thanks, Jaime! Appreciate both sentiments! 🙂
Yep, when it comes to doctor “follow ups,” it’s all about the Benjamins . . .
I love your card, Mary. I wouldn’t have thought to pair Cajun Craze with Mint Macaron, but oh, how pretty. Thanks for another great idea. – Ellie
Thanks, Ellie!! I’d love to take credit for the Cajun Craze/Mint Macaron combo, but….it was all Stampin’ Up! I probably wouldn’t ever had come up with it if they hadn’t done it in the DSP! 🙂 🙂
Beautiful fall card-that is about all that is fall here in GA, right! Love your colors together!
Thanks, Jari! 🙂
