Stampin’ Up! Spooky Fun Halloween Treat!

Good morning!  Hope your Tuesday is looking like it’ll be a good one.  We’ve got the vet coming for the yearly shots and teeth exams and physicals for the horses.  They love when the vet comes.

Sure – and little kids love going to the doctor!  He uses lollipops (or – do they still do that or is everyone too afraid of sugar!?) and I use peppermints.  Yes – they can all be bought with peppermints.  I can call them up in the middle of the day and they’ll come a-runnin’.  Cuz my policy is to alwaysALWAYS – give them a peppermint when they come in.  And I give them a peppermint when they’re all done!

Mary Poppins used a spoonful of sugar – it’s the same idea!

Bribery is a valid form of persuasion! 🙂

For today’s project,  I decided this would be a good time for a Halloween card.  I don’t know why – I just did!  So I used a few new sets from the Holiday Catalog – Spooky Fun, Halloween Scares and the a la carte stamp called Halloween Treat – which is just the cutest image!

Halloween Treat - Stamps-N-Lingers
I combined all these sets with….some By The Shore DSP! I know – a bit unexpected, but…well, take a look-see:

Spooky Fun Halloween Treat 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers
I started out with that Dapper Denim piece of paper from By The Shore.  I inked up the haunted house image from the Halloween Scares stamp set in Basic Black Archival Ink and stamped it about where I figured it needed to be.  Then I stamped it again on a sticky note and cut it out for a mask, which I placed over my stamped image.  Using the long-strip-of-dots image in Halloween Scares and some of my Whisper White Craft Ink (I sort of got a little cocky after my successful foray with this ink the other day – you can see that one here, if you like) I stamped all the way down the panel, making “stars”

Spooky Fun Halloween Treat 1 - Stamps-N-Lingers
I used the tree and picket fence die from the Halloween Scenes Edgelits set and cut them from Basic Black and Basic Gray card stock.  Then I adhered them to my panel with Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue – trimming the excess from the side and bottom.

My flying witch is also in the Halloween Scenes Edgelits and I cut her from some Basic Black as well.  Thanks to my friend and fellow SU! Demonstrator, Beth Hooper, I figured I could make a moon with the new Pumpkin Pie Glimmer Paper.  Using my 1 1/2″ Circle Punch, I punched the moon in the top corner of my card front.
Spooky Fun Halloween Treat 2 - Stamps-N-LingersI added the “boo” and “eeek” images (“boo” is from Suite Seasons and “eeek” is in the Spooky Fun stamp set) in Basic Black Archival ink.

For the main sentiment, I taped off everything but the main words and the spiders on the Halloween Treat stamp, inked it in Versamark and heat embossed it in Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder.

Now.  Glimmer Paper.  We all know that it’s hard to adhere stuff to Glimmer Paper – the very thing that makes it such a fun design element – the glitter! – makes it hard to stick to.  So, for my Pumpkin Pie Glimmer Paper mat, I first punched a bunch of 1 1/2″ Circle Punch holes in it – where they’d be hidden behind the card front.  I almost screwed up and punched a hole where my moon-hole already was – but I stopped myself just in time! 😉

Spooky Fun Halloween Treat 3 - Stamps-N-Lingers
I popped the now-holey Glimmer Paper onto my Basic Black card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Then I put more Dimensionals on the card base – inside the holes I’d punched.  I put Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue all over the back of my card front, laid it over the glimmer paper mat and gave it a good burnishing to help it all adhere.

Finally, I put some Stampin’ Dimensional on the back of my Basic Black witch, and added some Liquid Glue to the Dimensionals, then stuck her over the moon.

Ha – she was over the moon cuz the card front was done!

On the inside, I used a Whisper White panel and stamped a second sentiment from Spooky Fun in Basic Black Archival Ink.  Then I pulled out the cute little spider from the same set and stamped him several times across the top in Basic Gray Archival ink.  I used my Basic Gray Stampin’ Write Marker to extend his little web up to the top of the panel.  Then I colored him in with my Pumpkin Pie marker and stamped “eeek” a few times in Pumpkin Pie.

Spooky Fun Halloween Treat 5 - Stamps-N-Lingers
I punched holes in this panel of Pumpkin Pie Glimmer Paper and SNAILd it to the card base.  Then I ran SNAIL inside all the circles (on the card base, not on the Glimmer Paper), and ran Liquid Glue on the Whisper White panel and stuck it down.  And the card was done! 🙂

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got a Basic Black Archival Ink tree from the Halloween Scares stamp set, and a few more of the Spooky Fun spiders…

Spooky Fun Halloween Treat 6 - Stamps-N-Lingers
…and I did the exact same image on the back of the envelope as well.

Spooky Fun Halloween Treat 7 - Stamps-N-Lingers
Et Voila!  I just love these Edgelits – they make such fun little scenes.  I’m particularly enamored of the grass under the tree!  I don’t know why, but it just kind of tickles me when I see it!  And all three of these Halloween sets are so cute – I think some of the best I’ve seen.  Hope you’ll be snatching them up on 1 Sept for all your Halloween projects!
