Stampin’ Up! Father Christmas for a Single Stamp Set Sunday!

Well, I failed in my plan to get into another hoarder-hide-away. 🙁  Just didn’t want to – I wanted to make a card or two!  So that’s what I did and we’ll get right to it, cuz I figure y’all have things to do today, yes?  Let’s all delude ourselves that I’m going to do what I need to do today, too, shall we?  If we all believe, it could happen!

The stamp set I used today is one that caught my eye from the moment I saw it in the new Holiday Catalog.  Father Christmas – is a beautiful, vintage-y set, just itching to be front and center on your Christmas cards this year.

I did it up in classic vintage colors – Crumb Cake, Cherry Cobbler and Always Artichoke.  Take a look-see:

I started by stamping Father Christmas himself, in Early Espresso ink, on Crumb Cake card stock.  Then I used my Blender Pens to add the color.  Cherry Cobbler for his Santa-suit, Always Artichoke for the tiny tree, Crumb Cake for his satchel and the teddy bear, So Saffron for his watch and the trumpet, Pool Party for the drum and Calypso Coral for the clown.  Then I used my White Stampin’ Chalk Marker to color the furs on his suit and his beard.

Then I cut him out with an Oval Layering Framelit die and lightly flicked the edges with a sponge dipped in Crumb Cake.  Then I matted it on a scalloped-edge oval cut from Always Artichoke.

For the images on the card front, I used the marker-to-rubber inking technique, using my Cherry Cobbler and Crumb Cake markers, for both images.  I also used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to be sure it all lined up.  As with the oval, I flicked the edges with my Crumb Cake sponge.

I pulled out my new Warmth & Cheer and Presents & Pine Cones Washi Tapes and laid three different Cherry Cobbler designs across the center of the panel.  Over that I used a little Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to lay down a strip of 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon.  Finally, I wrapped a piece of Cherry Cobbler ribbon from the new 3/8″ Silky Taffeta Ribbon Combo Pack, securing it in the back with scotch tape.

I popped my Father Christmas oval over the top of the washi and ribbon with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and that was it for the card front!

On the inside, I used another panel of Crumb Cake and added the image to the top and bottom.  I continued to use the marker-to-rubber inking technique so that the look would stay the same throughout the card!

And I added the second sentiment, using the Crumb Cake and Cherry Cobbler markers.  I matted it on Always Artichoke and then SNAILd it into my Cherry Cobbler card base.  I popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and the card was done.

On my Crumb Cake Medium Envelope, I added more of the Cherry Cobbler design Washi Tape – two strips on the front…

…and three on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  One stamp set yields big Christmas-y impact!  I love how this looks old-fashioned, with a vintage flair!  Hope you like it as well.
