Stampin’ Up! Pink Pop Of Paradise Thinking of You

Made it to Friday again, y’all!  Yippee!  Only one more weekend and a week and then I’ll be on my way home! 🙂  Time for some home time – harvest the tons of tomatoes and Chile Peppers, maybe plant some more turnips – did I tell you I brought a mess of them with me?  Cooked them last weekend – oh my goodness!  They were sooooo good!  I froze a bag of them to take home so Wayne can try them.  But….they’re kind of calling my name – he may be out of luck!  If y’all like turnips and have a garden – get you a packet of White Ball turnips.  They’re spectacularly good!

No – I haven’t changed my blog to a garden show! 😉

Let’s do a card, shall we?  This one took me back to one of the first stamp sets I got in the new catalog – in the Demonstrator pre-order.  Pop of Paradise features a cute and saucy flamingo.  I paired her with one of the cool sentiments in the set and gave her a little assist from the fun Love You Lots set.  Take a look-see:

Nah – it’s from Mojo Monday!  Mojo Monday #457, to be exact!

And I might have come up with the color scheme all by my lonesome, but it turns out that the good folk over at The Global Design Project had the same idea for their challenge #045:

So – not to be too obvious, but I went straight for my pack of Pop of Pink DSP to find some cool paper to use.  For the Smoky Slate element, I used the paper from A Little Foxy DSP.  Sometimes it’s easy to forget that it’s two sided and the back has Smoky Slate and White designs.

I SNAILd one panel of the Pop of Pink DSP and one of the A Little Foxy DSP to mats of Basic Black.  Then I SNAILd the Smoky Slate stack to the Pop of Pink card front.

The Pop of Paradise Flamingo is stamped in Melon Mambo on a piece of Whisper White card stock – I let my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig get it all lined up just right.  I used the Project Life Corner Rounder to round all the corners (that’s kind of the Department of Redundancy Department right there – sorry!) and then used the corner rounder on the Envelope Punch Board to round the corners on a Basic Black mat.  Those two rounders just work perfectly together!

I SNAILd the two pieces together and used my Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker to make faux stitching.  Finally, I pulled out the cute little sentiment from Love You Lots and, again using the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig,  stamped it in Smoky Slate just above her head.  Then I popped the whole thing on the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The sentiment heart is from Pop Of Paradise, stamped in Melon Mambo on Whisper Whtie, and then I quickly fussy cut it.  I cut a Basic Black mat with the appropriately sized heart die in Sweet & Sassy Framelits, and SNAILd the sentiment to it.  Then I popped it on with Dimensionals as well.

I cut two little hearts from Pop of Pink DSP with the smallest stylized heart die in Sweet & Sassy, and used Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to adhere them sassily together and popped them on with…say it with me!…Stampin’ Dimensionals! 😉

Do you guys subscribe to Splitcoast Stampers?  Well, if you don’t – you ought to!  They have great tutorials over there.  This week’s Wednesday tutorial was about the Bow Easy.  Click here to check it out.  Any of you have one of those little doo-hahs?  I do – and it’s not the most intuitive thing in the world to use.  Their tutorial is really good.  And – at the end, she shows how to make a teensy little bow with a dinner fork!  So that’s what I did – using some of the Smoky Slate 1/8″ Stitched Ribbon.  I used a Glue Dot to stick it on the flamingo!

On the inside, I cut some more of the little Sweet & Sassy Framelit hearts from the Pop of Pink and A Little Foxy DSPs and adhered them with Liquid Glue across the bottom of a Whisper White panel.  Then I SNAILd it to a Basic Black mat and into my Melon Mambo card base.

I popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

For the Whisper White Medium Envelope, I adhered one more little Sweet & Sassy heart from Pop of Paradise DSP on the front…

…and gave it a custom envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I tend to forget what a great expression this little lady has on her flamingo face.  She kind of cracks me up.  And sort of reminds me of Duck Duck!  Anyway – hope you like!
