Stampin’ Up! Artistically Asian For a Single Stamp Set Saturday

Happy Saturday, y’all!  Hope you’re staying cool/dry/safe – whatever you need to be today.  Our country is for sure in a weather turmoil, isn’t it?  Epic flooding on one coast, insane fires and heat on the other.  Craziness – and I wish you all well, wherever you are!

Before I get into my card, I have a picture to show you.  Today (Friday – when I was typing this), the horse shoer came.  The ladies got a mani/pedi and Bo got a new pair of sneaks.  The shoer brought his 5 -year old grandson with him.  He’s quite the little helper and problem solver and he decided he needed to open the water-bucket door in Bo’s stall.  So he went to work on it.  Now – that door hadn’t been opened in….well, ever?  So it was a little tough – would have been for me, let alone a 5 year old.  But…he persevered.  And…he got a little help….

Bo - Stamps-N-Lingers
Little one was not to be distracted by warm horse breath in his ear!!  I think Bo was just watching to see if maybe he could repeat the feat at a later time….

Now – just to allay anyone’s fear – no, Bo is not blindfolded!  That’s a fly mask – and it’s see thru.  I promise.  They get along just fine with those on – and it keeps the oh-so-pesky flies off their eyes.  On the other hand, the grazing muzzles the ladies have to wear – now that’s probably horse abuse!!  Just ask them – they’re being abused and tortured every single day – it’s a crime!! Somebody call the Pony Police!!  LOL 🙂

And yes – the water bucket door did get open!

Okay – enough rambling about my horses!  On to the card for the day.  This one is real easy and quick – and only needs one stamp set.  The beautiful new Artistically Asian provided the images and the lovely sentiment.  Take a look-see:

Artistically Asian Faith 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers
I was playing along with a RetroSketches sketch challenge – but I missed the deadline….

I started by SNAILing a piece of Serene Scenery DSP to a Chocolate Chip panel.  I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to line up the sentiment from Artistically Asian, and stamped it in Chocolate Chip ink.  Then I wrapped a piece of the new 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon around the panel – securing the ends on the back with scotch tape.

Artistically Asian Faith 2 - Stamps-N-Lingers
I cut two strips of paper  – one from Whisper White and one in Chocolate Chip – and cut their ends with the Banner Triple Punch and the Scalloped Tag Topper.  On the white tag, I stamped the pretty grasses image in Versamark Ink, sprinkled it with the new Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heated it up.  Then I used my Aqua Painter to pick up some Wild Wasabi ink from the lid of the ink pad.  I used that to quickly brush ink across my embossed image.

I SNAILd the two tags together and looped some Linen Thread and Old Olive Baker’s Twine thru the top.  I also added a small bow tied with a length of the twine and the linen thread.  I adhered it with a little dab of Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.

Artistically Asian Faith 3 - Stamps-N-Lingers
I popped the tags onto the card front with some Stampin’ Dimensionals.  A few Pearl Basic Jewels and Wild Wasabi Enamel Shapes completed the card front.

On the inside, I used a Whisper White Panel, matted on Chocolate Chip.  Then I added the same grasses image I’d used on the front, this time in Wild Wasabi – stamped off once before stamping the card.  I didn’t add a second sentiment – I think the front sentiment lends this card to all sorts of occasions needing anything from sympathy to encouragement to just a shoulder to lean on!

Artistically Asian Faith 5 - Stamps-N-Lingers
I SNAILd the panel into my Wild Wasabi card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and the card was done! 🙂

For my Whisper White Medium Envelope, I gave the front another Artistically Asian grasses image to the front, in stamped-off-once Wild Wasabi…

Artistically Asian Faith 6 - Stamps-N-Lingers
…and made a custom flap cover with a little more of the pretty Serene Scenery DSP.  Here’s a reminder how to make these:  run a thin line of Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue around the edge of the flap (close as you can get!).  Then lay the paper you’re using on the flap, with a straight edge lined up even with the “top” of the flap (the part where the flap folds into the envelope).  Smooth the paper down, then fussy cut the excess paper.  Done! 🙂

Artistically Asian Faith 7 - Stamps-N-Lingers
Et Voila!  I love this stamp set – and I’m real happy with how this card turned out.  Between the images in Artistically Asian, and the organic design of the pretty Serene Scenery DSP…it’s a lovely, quiet card.  And it would be great for all sorts of occasions, I’m thinkin’.  Hope you like!! 🙂

  1. Mom

I really like this! And the sentiment is ever so applicable so many times.
Love seein’ old Bo…handsome as ever.

    • Yes – it’s a beautiful set and has several good sentiments! Thanks, Mom. Bo is quite the looker, there’s no doubt!! 🙂

  2. Awesome card Mary! Love that designer paper, perfect with your image. Great design!! Awesome pictures of your horse too. 🙂

  3. Thanks, Amy! 🙂

  4. Sharon C

As usual, Mary, a beautiful layout and card! Oh, and thanks for the envelope flap reminder!

  5. Karen L.

OK, here’s a question for ya……what is the purpose of a grazing muzzle?? I have seen them on horses & can’t figure out the purpose of them! Plus, do you still have “Good Greetings” – wood mount – for sale in your retired toolbox? Great looking card……I like a nice clean & simple card with an impact!! Thanks

  6. Hey Karen – thanks! 🙂 Grazing muzzle: it has a small round hole in the bottom – they can get blades of grass thru it to eat. They can drink normally. Basically it just slows down…easy keepers!…so they don’t eat their body weight in grass every day – they can still eat plenty. Haflingers (and many pony breeds) tend to be easy to get too fat – they’ll stay fat on mud!! – and that’s dangerous for them. The muzzle lets them be out with their herd and eat some – just not every single thing in sight! And yes – I do have Good Greetings left! 🙂

  7. Paula Poindexter

Very nice texture on this Asian card! You did a super job. Oddly enough I’m drawn to the inside more though! Guess I really like the silhouette type stamps! Thanks for sharing this with us.

  8. Thank you, Paula! This is a great silhouette stamp set!! 🙂
