Stampin’ Up! Moroccan Botanicals Thank You

Good Morning on this Memorial Day Monday!  I wanted to take a hot second before getting to today’s card to share a Thank You that I made in honor of this day.

As the song says – All Gave Some and Some Gave All.  This day we remember those who gave all in defense of our freedom and the way of life we enjoy here in this great country!  Say a prayer for them today – and for those still with us who are serving still, that they may not join the ranks of those who gave all. 🙂

Now – the card I made today is another Thank You – but one that goes a whole different direction!  I used the new – on Wednesday! – Moroccan Nights stamp set and the pretty Botanical Builder Framelits.  Take a look-see:

I played along with two design sketches for this card – the first drove the layout.  Freshly Made Sketches #238:

FMS 238 Sketch

And the second inspired the color combination….Fab Friday #88.  And it’s a fitting color combo indeed, given that two of these will leave us forever after tomorrow!! 🙁

FabFri88 Sketch

The first thing I did to make this card was to build my Moroccan Nights tile-inspired card front.  I used the large and lovely Moroccan image – inking it with Hello Honey ink, stamping it on Very Vanilla and then quickly sprinkling it with Clear Embossing Powder.  When I heated it up – I’d effectively embossed Hello Honey!  OBTW – that’ll work with almost any color ink – just be sure that your pad is inked up real good!

So – I did that 12 times.  Yep.  Twelve. 🙂

Then I used the brand-spankin’-new Layering Squares Framelits and cut out 12 of the 1 1/4″ scallop-edged squares.  Easy.  A bit time consuming, but made easy with my Big Shot!

When I had them all cut out, I used Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to adhere them to a Blackberry Bliss card stock panel. Look how great they all fit together – love that new Framelit set! 🙂

I used the Swirly Scribble Thinlits – yes, again! – to cut a swirly-do in Bermuda Bay and a second, smaller, one, from a piece of the Hello Honey design paper in the 2014-2016 In Color DSP Stack.  I adhered them to the card front with Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.  Then I pulled out my Botanical Builder Framelits.

I cut 4 large flower and two small ones from Very Vanilla, sponged them with Bermuda Bay and lightly creased the petals.  I stuck them all together to form three flowers and added some Blackberry Bliss centers, also cut with the Botanical Builders Framelits.

Finally, I cut three Blackberry Bliss fern leaves and adhered them over the Swirly Scribbles.  The two large flowers were next, stuck on with Liquid Glue.

For the sentiment, I stamped Thank You from Thoughtful Banners (coming in just two days!) in Bermuda Bay on a piece of Very Vanilla card stock, punched it with the Washi Label punch (get this one quick if you haven’t already – it’s retiring tomorrow 🙁 ) and then stuck each edge into the Bermuda Bay ink pad to color the edges.  Then I adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I added the smallest flower, using Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue and a little piece of Stampin’ Dimensional.  I added some Rhinestone Basic Jewels to the flower centers, the sentiment banner and the card front.  Finally, I SNAILd the card front to a Bermuda Bay mat.

For the inside, I added a small swirl from Swirly Bird, in Hello Honey that I’d stamped off once, to a Very Vanilla panel.  Over that, I stamped a second sentiment from Thoughtful Banners in Bermuda Bay.  I ran a strip of Hello Honey tape from the 2014-2016 In Color Designer Washi Tape (yes, this is going away after tomorrow, too) across the bottom and SNAILd it to a Bermuda Bay mat.

I SNAILd the inner liner and the card front on my Blackberry Bliss card base and the card was done!

The Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got three Swirly Bird swirly-do’s – one in each of the colors used in the card…

…and I cut a liner from the Hello Honey 2014-2016 In Color DSP Stack, using the soon-to-be-departed Envelope Liner Framelits.

Et Volia!  I kind of love how the card front turned out – those new Layering Squares Framelits are the bomb-diggity – I can’t wait for you to be able to order them in a couple of days!  And it’s great that the Botanical Builder Framelits are also still going to be around!  Get them all! 🙂
