Stampin’ Up! Pop of Pink Paradise for the Happy Stampers Blog Hop

HappyStampersBlogPostBanner-2
Mornin’, y’all –  welcome to another edition of the Happy Stampers Blog Hop!  We’ve got a fun sketch today and I’ve interpreted it in a….tropical way.  To match the return of the muggies here in Savannah!  And traffic.

Traffic isn’t tropical.  That was a little random association going on.  I thought muggy.  Then I got a brain picture of heat waves rising off of asphalt.  While sitting in traffic – which we do here every day on the way home.  Yukkk.  It’s as bad as Atlanta, I tells ya! 🙁

But – that’s not why we’re here.  We’re here to see some cards made by some talented ladies, who all started with this sketch:

12313635_1305624596130779_8167946357580835360_nI took a tiny bit of liberty with the sketch, but… the elements are there!  I used some of the new Pop of Pink Suite of products in the 2016-2017 Annual Catalog.  Some Pop of Paradise stamp set images, a little Pop of Pink DSP and some pretty Pop of Pink Washi Tape.  And I added a little bit of the Layering Love stamp set.  And a few surprises.  Take a look-see:

Pop of Pink Paradise 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers

This was a card for a friend at work.  He’d gotten a Mother’s Day card from me.  Then a birthday card for his daughter.  Then he asked me for a “love” card for his fiancee!  This is a woman he knew way back when they were teenagers – then they kind of went their separate ways for 40 some odd years – and now they’ve found each other again.

Awwww……right??  That’s really romantic! 🙂

So I thought the sentiments I picked would be just right.  And he loved it when I gave it to him on Wednesday morning.  Score!

I started by SNAILing a piece of the new Pop of Pink DSP to a Melon Mambo mat.  That vertical panel is a piece of Whisper White card stock that I laid lots of strips of Pop of Pink Washi Tape on and ran around to the back.  Then I SNAILd that to a Melon Mambo mat and then to the card front.

Pop of Pink Paradise 1 - Stamps-N-Lingers
The tag is a piece of Whisper White, that I angled the top of with just my Paper Snips.  I stamped the sentiment from Layering Love (coming 1 June) in Basic Black Archival Ink and then SNAILd it to a Melon Mambo mat.  I used one of the little dies from the retiring Chalk Talk Framelits set to cut the hole in the top.  Then I ran two short lengths of 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon thru the hole – one Basic Black and one Melon Mambo.  I used the Handheld Stapler to secure the ribbon.  Then I popped that on at a jaunty angle with some Stampin’ Dimensionals!

Pop of Pink Paradise 3 - Stamps-N-Lingers

To make the circular art piece, I cut a 2 3/8″ circle of Pop of Pink DSP with my Circles Collections Framelits (leaving us on 31 May!) and matted it on a Melon Mambo circle that I’d punched with my 2 1/2″ Circle Punch (also retiring!).  I popped that onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I stamped the flamingo dude from Pop of Paradise on a piece of Whisper White card stock.  I inked the stamp with my Melon Mambo Stampin’ Write Marker for his body and legs, and the So Saffron Marker for his beak.  Then I did a casual fussy cut – meaning I left a little bit of white edge.

Pop of Pink Paradise 9 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I used my Pear Pizzazz Stampin’ Write Marker to ink the leaves – I think the streakiness makes the leaves look a little more organic.  Those I fussy cut close – no white edge – letting the leafy-ness shine.  I used Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to lay down the two long leaves, added the flashy flamingo with a little more glue, and then put the smaller leaves on with Liquid Glue (the one on the right) and a Stampin’ Dimensional.  Just cuz I could, I brushed the leaves and the flamingo’s beak with my Clear Wink of Stella Brush.

Pop of Pink Paradise 2 - Stamps-N-Lingers
The last major element of the card is the stack of hearts.  These are cut with the new Sweet & Sassy Framelits – one in Melon Mambo, Basic Black and Whisper White.  The Gold Foil heart was punched with the Sweetheart Punch.  They layer perfectly with some Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue!  I added that stack with more Liquid Glue and Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Finally, I punched some more Gold Foil hearts with my Confetti Hearts Border Punch and adhered some of them hither and yon with little dabs of Liquid Glue.  And the card front was done!

Go back up to the close up of the flamingo.  See the little Gold heart under the leaf?  That’s for my friend’s heart. 😉

On the inside of the card, I SNAILd a piece of Whisper White to a Melon Mambo mat.  I pulled one of my fave sentiments from the new Floral Affection stamp set and added it in Basic Black Archival Ink.  Then I inked the long leaf image from Pop of Paradise with my Pear Pizzazz Stampin’ Write Marker and added it right over the top.

Pop of Pink Paradise 5 - Stamps-N-Lingers
The strip at the bottom is just a piece of Melon Mambo with another strip of the same Pop of Pink Washi Tape that I’d used on the front.  Then I added some more Gold Foil hearts and SNAILd it into my Basic Black card base.  I also SNAILd the front on – the card is plenty thick! – and it was done!

Pop of Pink Paradise 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers
The Whisper White Medium Envelope got another Pear Pizzazz Pop of Paradise leaf and some Melon Mambo hearts (that image is in Layering Love)…

Pop of Pink Paradise 6 - Stamps-N-Lingers
…and a liner from more Pop of Pink DSP, cut with my soon-to-retire Envelope Liner Framelits!

Pop of Pink Paradise 7 - Stamps-N-Lingers
Et Volia!  I wasn’t really sure if this would strike a chord with my bud – I mean the flamingo is a bit random – but…I offered him a choice between this one and one I’d done earlier and…he liked that one, too – but loved this.  So… 😉

I hope that you like it, too – this Melon Mambo/Basic Black/Whisper White color combo in Pop of Pink is just classic and so much fun.

And who doesn’t love a flamingo?!? 😉
