Stampin’ Up! Friends & Flowers Easter Bunny

Good morning – Friday morning!  Another weekend approacheth!  And this weekend signals the return to Daylight Savings Time!     Yeah!!  The days will start to get longer – I love DST!

Before we dive into the card for today, I wanted to show you a quick pic – of my two little fur-kids!

Katy and Leo - Stamps-N-Lingers

That’s Leo glaring at the camera – and that’s his sister, Katy, curled up with him in their favorite chair.  Why is this a great picture?  Because just a few days ago, Leo was hissing and spitting at his sister – like any time she walked into the same room!  Apparently, she smelled of THE BAD PLACE! (That’s the vet…)  And he DID. NOT. LIKE. IT!

Apparently, she’s now smelling more like his sister again and so he’ll allow her to be in his space once again.  Peace is restored.  All is right in the fur-kid world!

The end.

Now, on to my project for today.  As we get closer to Easter, it seemed like a good idea to make an Easter Card.  Duh!  And the Occasions stamp set called Friends & Flowers seemed like the way to go.  I added in a little Flowering Fields and….take a look-see:

Whatcha think?  Cute?

My color palette – Blushing Bride, Pear Pizzazz and Sahara Sand – was inspired by the Stamp Ink Paper Challenge #38:

SIP #38

So, the first thing I did was to assemble a “regular” card – Blushing Bride card stock, cut to 4 1/4″ x 11″ and scored and folded at 5 1/2″.  To make the egg shape, I ran it thru the Big Shot with the largest (scalloped) Ovals Collection die.  I placed the die offset on the card stock – so a little of the fold was left after the cut was made.  Did that make sense?  Then I cut about 1/4″ off the bottom of the “egg” to make it stand-up-able!

The Pear Pizzazz frame was next and I made that by running a piece of the card stock thru the Big Shot, with the 4th and the 6th from the center Oval die in place and that resulted in the frame.

The art piece is an oval that’s cut with the 5th from the center oval – and it’s cut from Shimmery White card stock.  I used Pear Pizzazz to stamp a few flowers from the SAB Flowering Fields stamp set.  Then I used my Wink of Stella to color them in Pear Pizzazz and Blushing Bride – picking the ink up from the lid of my ink pads.  Finally, using my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, I added the little butterfly (also from Flowering Fields) and colored him with the Wink, in Pool Party and Blushing Bride.  I know Pool Party wasn’t in the challenge – but he just needed to pop a little!

Then it was time to make the bunny!  I used Tuxedo Black Memento Ink to stamp the bunny face and two of the ears from Friends & Flowers on Sahara Sand card stock.  I punched the face out with my 1 3/8″ Circle Punch.  The ears are fussy cut (I could have used the Festive Flower Builder Punch, but I didn’t want any “border” on them, so…).  The little bunny feet are just a 1/2″ Circle Punch, cut in half.  And the body is just a plain 1 1/2″ Circle Punch.  I traced around the edges of all the pieces with my Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker.  And on the feet, I added some tiny lines to make toes!  I sponged Sahara Sand ink all around the edges of each piece and he was ready to put together!

Friends & Flowers Easter Bunny 8 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I pieced together some Metallic Glitter Tape pieces for the insides of his ears and his nose.  I stamped two more ear images on Sahara Sand and fussy cut just the inside.  Then I laid a piece of the White Metallic Glitter Tape over that and trimmed the excess.  Finally, I colored the tape with my Blushing Bride Stampin’ Write Marker.  I adhered them to the ears with a little Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.  The nose is the same process, but I just sort of free-hand snipped a nose-shaped-piece! 🙂

To put the card together, I SNAILd the flower-stamped oval directly to the card base.  Then I added the Pear Pizzazz frame with Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.  I used some more of the glue to adhere the bunny-body to the card front, and added the little feet.  I adhered the ears to the back of the head circle with Liquid Glue, then I popped it all on with Stampin’ Dimensionals!

Finally, I added the Blushing Bride Honeycomb Embellishment as his tail.  I’d adhered it to a 7/8″ Scallop Circle to give it a little base.

Using a fine line of Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue, I adhered some of the pearl strand from the Love Blossoms Embellishment Kit.  I started and ended the strand under his ear!

Wait!  What happened to his tail?!?  Hmm….

I decided I needed to make a way to mail this card without making a big boxy envelope!  So….I used some Velcro®.  Here’s how I did it:

I cut two small pieces of white Velcro® and attached a little piece of Sticky Tape (this is the old version – it’s now Tear & Tape Adhesive) on each piece.

Friends and Flowers Easter Bunny 1 - Stamps-N-Lingers

Then I stuck the two Velcro® pieces together – you know, like Velcro®! – and stuck it down to the 7/8″ Scallop Circle.  I let it hang over the edge just a tiny bit.

Friends & Family Easter Bunny 3 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I pulled the backing off the top piece of Sticky Tape and stuck one side of the Honeycomb Embellishment to it.  Then I added a double thickness of Stampin’ Dimensional on the other side of the Scallop Circle.

Friends & Flowers Easter Bunny 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers

Friends & Flowers Easter Bunny 5 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I opened the embellishment and that stuck the other side to the dimensionals.  I trimmed the little bit of extra Velcro® I could see under the edge of the embellishment and then used Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to add the tail to the bunny.  I unstuck the Velcro® and…

Friends & Flowers Easter Bunny 6 - Stamps-N-Lingers

Voila!  Easily mailable in a regular Medium Envelope!  I don’t think you’d even have to give instructions to the recipient – it’s pretty no-brainer that they should open the Honeycomb, don’t you think?

The inside of the card was quick and easy.  I cut an oval from a piece of flowery Pear Pizzazz Subtles Designer Paper and added a Shimmery White oval over the top of that.  Then I borrowed the sentiment from Easter Lamb.  I covered the lamb with a sticky note and stamped just the sentiment in Pear Pizzazz.

Friends & Flowers Easter Bunny 10 - Stamps-N-Lingers

For the Whisper White Medium Envelope, I added a Tuxedo Black peeking bunny, using the Friends & Flowers stamps again, to the front, coloring him with Blushing Bride using my Wink of Stella.  I also added another butterfly, coloring him exactly the same way I colored the little dude on the front of the card…

Friends & Flowers Easter Bunny 11 - Stamps-N-Lingers

…and I used some Blushing Bride paper from the Subtles Designer Series Paper Stack, cutting it with my Envelope Liner Framelits!

Friends & Flowers Easter Bunny 12 - Stamps-N-Lingers

Et Volia!  Easter Egg.  Easter Bunny.  Must be an Easter Card!  I hope that you like it – and like the idea for mailing Honeycomb Embellishments!
