Happy Valentine’s Day, y’all! I hope you and your special someone have a nice day planned. Or a special dinner. Or at least you’re not planning to vacuum today… 😉
The card I made for you today is a blatant Valentines’ Day card – right down to “Be Mine”! I used the new Bloomin’ Heart Thinlits and the coordinating Bloomin’ Love stamp set. The card itself is a fun-fold gate card, that I learned how to make at the Splitcoaststampers Wednesday Tutorial. You can see it here! Take a look-see:
I started with a Blushing Bride card base – it’s 4 1/4″ x 8 1/2″. Then I used my Stampin’ Trimmer to score along the long side at 2 1/8″ and again at 6 3/8″. Then I folded and lightly burnished the folds.
I cut the pretty Bloomin’ Heart die from Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper. Then, following the directions in the tutorial, I marked and cut along the centerline of the heart.
I cut two pieces of the Love Blossoms DSP and SNAILd them onto each of the front panels – lining their edges up with the center edges of the Blushing Bride card stock. To adhere the Blushing Bride Glimmer heart pieces – I used the Fine-Tip Glue Pen and just lined the cut edges up and eyeballed the alignment from left to right.
I stamped the small flowers from Bloomin’ Love in Blushing Bride on Whisper White card stock and cut them with the matching die. Then I just adhered them to the Glimmer Paper heart with Liquid Glue, letting them set and dry. Each little flower also got a Pearl Basic Jewel.
For the center “latch”, I stamped the lacy heart image in Bloomin’ Love in Blushing Bride ink onto some Blushing Bride card stock, and punched out two Sweetheart Punches. The image is bigger than the punch – I was just looking to get that lace pattern in my heart punches.
Again following the instructions, I marked and cut a “channel” in each Sweetheart. One from the top down to halfway and the other from the bottom up to halfway. Then I interlocked the two hearts and stamped the Bloomin’ Love “Be Mine” in Archival Basic Black ink. I inked and stamped each word separately so that I could make sure the words were squarely on each side of the heart!
Then I put Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue on the back of the interlocked heart (taking care to not get any near the slots in the hearts!) and laid it over the closed flaps of the card. Since my diecut heart is made with the Glimmer Paper – I set an ink pad upside down over the card stock heart and then set a heavy punch on that. Just to push the heart into the heart and get a good grip. I set that aside to dry and set!
I cut the inside pieces from another design in Love Blossoms – using it on the inside panels and as a mat for the center liner. That’s stamped in Blushing Bride, using the sentiment from Bloomin’ Love.
I used the little double heart image from Beautiful Ride to stamp once in Rose Red on the front heart and in each corner of the inner liner in Blushing Bride.
Just to top everything off, I colored in the little hearts on the front and all the little flowers with my Clear Wink of Stella Glimmer Paper. And that was it! 🙂
Now – this makes a 4 1/4″ square card – which will fit in a SU! Medium Envelope! But – I wanted a square envelope for it. But – no paper! So…this is an envelope-less card share today! Sorry about that, folks! 🙁
I hope that you like this little card. The gate fold could be used for all sorts of different card themes and it’s a nice little extra touch of fun for your cards!
Tomorrow is the very last day to grab your free Clear Wink Of Stella! A lot of folks have been taking advantage of the opportunity – don’t you be the one to miss out, okay? 🙂
