Well, it’s happened. I’ve got projects to share stockpiled on my desk. We’re done with our project. There’re no more excuses. All that’s left is to tape together boxes, load them up and get them to the post office tomorrow. And then I’m out on Saturday! I do have to keep reminding myself that I have tomorrow to pack and mail and mentally prepare. You’d think I’d be extra anxious to leave and get home, but…I’m not all that comfortable with changes. It’s forever been true for me that I’m better at being gone than I am at getting gone. It’s why I do 3 – 4 month trips versus a couple of weeks and then home and then back and then home…. I nest up. I get comfy where I am and in the routine du jour. Switching it up….yuk.
But, tomorrow it’s time – and, truthfully, once I start the process and get into it – all will be well. It’s funny, I can almost feel my brain make the transition from being “here” to being “there”. I can’t predict when it will happen – but I’ll all of a sudden realize, sometime between right this second and getting on the plane on Sunday….I’m ready to be home!
And that probably falls into the TMI category, and what-the-heck-is-she-talking-about-why-doesn’t-she-get-on-with-the-card!! 😉 Sorry.
So, for today, I have a card that leans heavily on some of the beautiful papers and stamps in the Sale-a-Bration flyer. Wildflower Fields DSP is some of the prettiest paper I’ve seen. I’ve combined it with another of the free goodies in the SAB – Botanicals For You. Add in the ever-versatile One Big Meaning, from the Annual Catalog and a little Botanical Garden Designer Vellum and….take a look-see:
My layout today was inspired by the talented designers over at Can You Case It. Challenge #106, to be exact! Be sure to check it out!
As you can see, I stuck pretty close to the sketch – you don’t even have to squint your eyes or anything to see the elements, huh??
I started with a piece of the Sale-A-Bration Perfectly Artistic DSP (and, hey – if you like this paper, you need to be getting on it right quick – after Monday it’ll be gone, okay?) and then I layered a piece of the Botanical Garden Designer Vellum over the top of the solid side. You’ll recall that the Perfectly Artistic DSP has a solid-y side and a marble-y side, yes?
I used the Fine-Tip Glue Pen and used very tiny dabs of glue under the printed parts of the vellum and under where the top layers were going to go – so that you can’t see it! I matted that on a piece of Pool Party card stock.
The two center pieces were really complicated to make. Hang on. This may be hard to follow! 😉
I cut two rectangles of the Wildflower Fields DSP. Of equal size.
I matted them on Pool Party card stock.
I SNAILd them to the card front.
🙂
For the sentiment, I cut a piece of Blackberry Bliss card stock and layered it onto some more Pool Party. I covered up the “…because” on the stamp in Botanicals For You (Sale-A-Bration free item!!) with a sticky note and inked up the remainder with Versamark. I stamped it in the center of my strip, sprinkled it with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed it. After it cooled, I gave it another swipe with my Embossing Buddy, and heat embossed the little flower (also from Botanicals For You) in white on either side.
Before I popped the sentiment strip onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals, I used some Glue Dots on the back – sort of centered – to wind a few loops of Gold Metallic Thread. Just to give a little texture and “shiny”! I stuck a little Pearl Basic Jewel in the center of each flower and set the card front aside.
On the inside, I used another piece of the Perfectly Artistic DSP and matted it onto Pool Party card stock. The sentiment, from One Big Meaning (Annual catalog) is stamped in Blackberry Bliss. And yes, I DID use my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, but it occurs to me that it doesn’t really look like it, does it? Apparently my eyes are crooked! Sheesh….
I went a little old-school with the inside embellishment, matting another strip of the Wildflower Fields DSP on Pool Party and SNAILing it across the bottom of the liner.
I SNAILd that inside my Blackberry Bliss card base, popped the front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals – and the card was done!
I decorated a Whisper White Medium Envelope with some of the Botanicals For You flowers – in Blackberry Bliss, Crushed Curry and Mint Macaron – on the front…
…and gave it a liner with more of the Wildflower Fields DSP, cut with my Envelope Liner Framelits!
Et Voila! Another example of letting the beautiful Designer Series Paper from Stampin’ Up! do all the work for you! And, since every DSP description includes a list of the colors that coordinate with it – SU! has really helped those of us who much be a little…color-coordination challenged?…to look like artistes! 🙂
Hope you like!
