Good Monday to y’all! It’s already February – can you believe that?! Holy Smokes.
Ready for the week? I am – cuz it means I’m getting closer to going home! And closer to another fun Saturday of stamping with friends!
We three ladies had a great time yesterday – we made the Greatest Greetings Clean and Simple Butterfly card (click here to see it if you didn’t!) and they really liked it. We even had an “ah-ha!” moment. We’d come to the part of the program where they were to paint their butterfly die cut with Clear Wink of Stella – just to add a little pizzazz. Well, as you’ve likely become aware, I’m pretty addicted to the stuff. So my Clear Wink was a little on the dry side. Carole asked if she could use the Gold – to which I, or course, said yes. And she did. And it was awesome!! She’d used golds and blacks in her Washi background – and the Gold Wink just made the butterfly pop! From adversity came brilliance! 🙂
Anywho – they had so much fun that they’re going to come back and reprise the event on Saturday. Not Sunday. Cuz, well….Super Bowl? Even I want to watch that one!
So, for today, I have a fun quick card to share that would be great for Valentine’s Day. I used the wondrous new stamp set called Timeless Textures (Occasions catalog) and a couple of little stamps from Welcome Words and Beautiful Ride (both also in Occasions). And I added a die cut from the Hello You Thinlits (Annual Catalog). Take a look-see:
The layout for the card was inspired by the CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge #157….
…And I pulled my color palette from Can You Case It’s Weekly Challenge #105:
Be sure to check both blogs out when you get done here, okay?
So – I started with a panel of Shimmery White card stock SNAILd onto a Basic Black mat. (Note: I used Shimmery White cuz I’m almost out of Whisper White and don’t want to order another packet until I get home. It’s heavy to get home!! So, the Shimmery White was just used from necessity – you can most certainly use Whisper White and be good to go!) I pulled out Timeless Textures and started with the little splats (dots?) stamp. I just covered the center area with a few in Rose Red – I stamped off once first and then stamped a couple times without re-inking. I then did the same with the round flourish image. Finally, I used the horizontal…lines?…image – this one I stamped off twice before stamping the card.
I repeated the splats and the flourish images using Crumb Cake ink. Then I pulled out the cute Welcome Words stamp set, and used the little heart image – which I stamped multiple times in Rose Red (again – stamping off once on scrap paper first). And that was it for the background!
For the sentiment, I inked up the word “Love” on the “Love Bug” stamp from Beautiful Ride with my Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker and stamped it below where I was figuring I’d put my “hello” die cut. It’s a very thin lined sentiment, so I darkened it up some with the Marker after it was stamped.
I used the Hello You Thinlits to create the main part of the sentiment. I cut the die three times – twice in Rose Red and once in Basic Black. Then I used Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to adhere the cuts together, to make a stack that would add a little weight to the word.
To add the Linen Thread embellishment, I laid the stacked die cut upside down and, using little dabs of Liquid Glue, wound the thread around, adhering it at various points on the back of the die cut. It’s a little persnickety, but it really let me manipulate and control the shape of my completely random and haphazard-looking Linen Thread! 😉
With that done, I used more dots of Liquid Glue to adhere the embellished die cut to the card front. And then I set that aside.
For the inside, I just repeated the Shimmery White on Basic Black theme and added Rose Red and Crumb Cake Timeless Textures images across the bottom. I also added a few more Welcome Words hearts!
I SNAILd that into my Rose Red card base and popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!
My Whisper White Medium Envelope got still more Timeless Textures and a couple of Welcome Words hearts stamped in Rose Red and Crumb Cake on the front….
…and then I used a piece of Crumb Cake-design DSP from the Love Blossoms DSP Stack and gave it a liner using my Envelope Liner Framelits!
Et Voila! I really love this Timeless Textures stamp set – and I hope that it’ll stick around! I hope that you like this card as much as I do!
Enjoy your Monday, and I’ll be back in your Inbox tomorrow with the Tuesday updates and a brand new set of Weekly Deals. You got your Bear Hugs Framelits, didn’t you?!? 😉
