Stampin’ Up! Greatest Greetings Clean and Simple Butterfly!

Hello!  I hope that when this posts, I’m still asleep.  Really asleep.  Not that thing where I’m laying there and I know I’m awake but I can’t really move and don’t really want to.  That I can’t hear any noises.  No one calls me.  Don’t have to go to the bathroom.  Brain isn’t running thru a litany of things I need to get up and do! You know – dead-to-the-world.

Will be a tiny miracle!  So, I’ll just hope to sleep until 7!  Arizona time.  Fingers crossed for me, okay?

So – I have a fun little thing happening tomorrow.  One of the ladies from work here and a lady that found me on the SU! website is coming over to stamp for a little while.  I think it’ll be fun!  In the course of determining what we’ll be stamping and creating, I came up with this card.  My friend from work is a complete newbie to stamping.  The other lady is an experienced crafter – so looking for projects that will appeal to her, but not overwhelm my friend and make her wonder what the in the world she was thinking!!

Now, there’s a card in the Annual Catalog that I’d been meaning to do a riff on – and it seemed like this would be a great time.  It’s easy peasy to make, but looks so cool that I think it’s going to work great!  It uses the ever wonderful Butterflies Thinlits from the Annual Catalog and Greatest Greetings from Occasions.  And Washi Tape!  Take a look-see:

Okay – hang on.  This is gonna go fast – which is how making the card went, too!

I need a couple three Get Well cards this week – so I wanted something cheery!  I selected the It’s My Party Washi Tape for the bright colors and patterns.  I cut a piece of Whisper White card stock – just big enough that it would sit completely behind the butterfly cut-out.  Then all I did was lay strips of the Washi Tape across the entire panel.  I went on a diagonal, and I repeated the pattern over and over.  I just kept running the tape until the entire panel was covered.  You could obviously use any Washi Tape that you like! 🙂

For the card front, I placed my Butterflies Thinlit (this is the medium sized die in the 3-piece set) where I was going to want it, and ran it thru the Big Shot.  I carefully removed all the little pieces and the overall butterfly.

Using some Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue (the SNAIL didn’t really want to stick to the Washi Tape), I adhered my Washi-fied panel to the back of the card front.  This was without the die cut back in the “hole”.

I replaced the butterfly – adhering him with lots of little dots of glue from my Fine-Tip Glue Pen.  When you make this, you just want to be sure he gets laid down nice and flat in his original spot!

The sentiment is from the super new Greatest Greetings stamp set in the Occasions Catalog.  I love this set – it’s got 15 sentiments in the prettiest font ever!  I inked the stamp with my Pool Party Stampin’ Write Marker (cuz my Pool Party Ink Pad is in Atlanta.  Which is not where I am!).  I did use my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to ensure that I got the sentiment right where I wanted it.

Greatest Greetings Butterfly 5 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I used a length of the new Bermuda Bay 1/8″ Stitched Ribbon and secured it on the back of the panel with scotch tape.  Then I tied a double bow, separating the loops.  Looks a little like a butterfly, doesn’t it?  And I adhered it to the ribbon strand with Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.

I SNAILd the panel to a Pool Party card stock mat and set it aside.

For the inside, I let the Washi do the work.  I wrapped two lengths of It’s My Party Washi Tape around the bottom of a panel of Whisper White card stock.

I SNAILd that panel to a Pool Party mat and SNAILd it all into my Whisper White card base.  Then I popped the front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.  See?  Easy and Peasy!

The envelope was too easy.  I just ran two lengths of the same Washi Tape across the front of a Medium Whisper White Envelope – snipping the excess off both sides…

…and made a liner from a piece of Subtles Backgrounds DSP in Pool Party using my Envelope Liner Framelits!

Greatest Greetings Butterfly 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers

Et Voila!  Boy, I really like how that Washi Tape just adds an instant pop of color behind the beautiful Butterflies Thinlits cut-out.  I could see doing a bunch of these, with different Washi Tape and various sentiments from the Greatest Greetings set.  Or from any stamp set at all!  And it takes about as long to put together as it takes macaroni to boil for macaroni salad.  Gotta love it!

Getcha some peppermints, okay?  Cerah would like you to know that lots of peppermints are better than some peppermints – so get lots of them!!  Now’s the time – but it’s running out…
