Stampin’ Up! Grateful Bunch Love Note

Aaaannnndddd…..it’s Monday again!   Amazing how fast that came around this time – one day off just doesn’t really cut it! I shopped.  I laundered.  I made cards!  I ate awesome Mexican food and had a truly wonderful Margarita.  Then it was time for bed and back at it.  Anybody else have a short weekend?  Is it really even a weekend if it’s only one day?  I don’t know. 😉

Now, for today, the stamp set I used is one that you’ve seen before – called Grateful Bunch.  It has a few great flower images, and those images coordinate with a punch.  That I stubbornly hadn’t acquired when last we looked at this set.  But this time – I’m the proud new owner of the Blossom Bunch Punch!  Can’t even sort of tell you how much quicker things go when you’ve got the right tools.  As my friend is wont to say….you need to have the proper tool for the proper job! 🙂  So – with the right tools, I used Grateful Bunch and its matching punch to create today’s share.  Take a look-see:

Grateful Bunch Love Note 1 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I think it’s a little hard to see – but the card base is Blackberry Bliss.  I’ll do better with the photos, promise!

The layout design is inspired by Freshly Made Sketches challenge #220.  The challenge ends today, so be sure to head over and see what everyone came up with!

FMS 220 Sketch

I started by making a bunch of flowers for the circle elements.  I first stamped some large and medium flowers using the image in Grateful Bunch.  A cool little feature of this set is that the flowers are all on the same stamp – and they’re lined up perfectly with the flowers in the punch.  So you can stamp 3 flowers at a time and then punch them all out!  So, I stamped the flowers in Calypso Coral ink on Calypso Coral card stock and punched them out.  I also punched a couple out of the Blackberry Bliss-centric design in the Wildflower Fields DSP (available only as a free item in the Sale-A-Bration flyer!)

Grateful Bunch Love Note 2- Stamps-N-Lingers

In order to get the window and sentiment correctly aligned, I did a lot of dry-fitting of the White Corrugated Paper on the Botanical Gardens DSP, setting all my flowers in place.  I laid the die from Tags & Labels over the card to determine where to cut the window and then ran it thru my Big Shot.  With that done, I stamped the sentiment on the clear Stamp-A-Ma-Jig sheet and used that to determine where to stamp the sentiment – which I did in Blackberry Bliss ink.

Grateful Bunch Love Note 6 - Stamps-N-Lingers

The White Corrugated Paper card front is popped onto the Botanical Gardens DSP mat with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I thought it would be cool to add just a touch more texture, so I stuck some Glue Dots in the corner and used them to wind a length of Linen Thread and a length of Gold Metallic Thread around and around a few times.  And then…Disaster!

Grateful Bunch Love Note 5 - Stamps-N-Lingers

Do you see what I saw at that moment?  I swear to you, I should be banned from using Blackberry Bliss ink.  EVER!!  Especially if I’m also trying to use Whisper White. 🙁

So – tore it all apart and re-did the window cut out, stuck the new front on with more Dimensionals and re-did the Linen Thread/Gold Metallic Thread wind-y thing.

Once I was back where I started,  I layered all the flowers in place, after gently rolling all their little petals with my Bone Folder. I didn’t want them to be on there quite as…perfectly as they sketch calls for…I wanted them a little more casually laid out.  All of them except the left side Blackberry Bliss flower are popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  That lone flower is stuck on with some Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.  Both of the Bliss flowers also got a small Calypso Coral center.

I added some Clear Wink of Stella to all the Calypso Coral flowers and then accented the centers with Pearl Basic Jewels.

The inside of the card is Whisper White on another piece of Botanical Gardens DSP.  I stamped a couple of Calypso Coral and Blackberry Bliss Grateful Bunch flowers in the corner.  Easy peasy and clean and simple.

Grateful Bunch Love Note 3 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I SNAILd the inner liner into the Blackberry Bliss card base, and did the same for the front of the card.  And that was it!

For the Whisper White Medium envelope, I simply added a couple more flowers to the front…

…and added a liner from the Wildflower Fields DSP – cut with my Envelope Liners Framelits.

Grateful Bunch Love Note 8 - Stamps-N-Lingers

Et Voila!  A great-for-any-occasion (even Valentine’s Day!) love card for someone special.  And one that turned out to be one of my favorites!  I totally adore that White Corrugated Paper and what it does – instantly! – to bring texture and life to a card.  And yet it’s still clean and simple and…perfect!  I really hope that you’ve got some in your stash!  And let’s not forget this bundle – Grateful Bunch Stamp Set and the Blossom Bunch Punch.  Don’t be like me – just go ahead and get the bundle from the git-go, okay? 😉

Tomorrow is update-Tuesday, so I’ll be back with all the news from Stampin’ Up! as well as the new Weekly Deals.  That means today’s the last day to get this week’s deals.  Check out that Bigz Berry Basket die – and the Occasions Catalog Party Punch Pack!

  1. So pretty Mary! I love the colors and those flowers are just perfect for the sketch…and even more perfect now that you have the punch. 😉 Blackberry Bliss seems to get on everything any time that I touch it too, bummer on your card. But at least it wasn’t fully assembled before the smudge appeared! 🙂

  2. True that! I was just annoyed this time – if I’d been further down the process….I might very well have cried! 😉 And yes – the punch is the bomb!! Thanks, Amy! 🙂

Love, Love and Love the white corrugated piece with the label window. Very nicely done lining up the sentiment and thanks for the tips. I’m sure I still would have bungled it.
I would have stuck a butterfly over the smudge, finished it and made another card. No crying please…makes for poofy eyes! =) And, then I’d have an extra to send out. =)
Your flowers are pretty and glad you invested in the punch…yes…much easier!
    Thanks for sharing with us!

    • LOL! Didn’t even think about a butterfly!! I tried a Pearl….a Rhinestone….nothing worked. All just screamed: look, she messed up!! So…started over! 🙂 Thanks, Lynn!

  4. Mom

Right tool, yes, but also has to be in the right hands. And this one quite clearly is. A beautiful card, Mary!

  5. I have always thought that Blackberry Bliss was a challenge to find matching colors. You have done very well with it using wild flower collection. How did you decide the shape of the label window?

    • Thank you, Brent. And – I’d love to tell you it was some sort of artistic bent that led me to that label shape and size, but….I have the Tags & Labels Framelits. Tags didn’t look right. And this was the label that fit without overpowering the card! 🙂

  6. You’ve made such a pretty flower arrangement, and I love the textured, corrugated card stock. Thanks for joining us at Freshly Made Sketches this week!

  7. Thanks, Amy!! 🙂
