Stampin’ Up! Botanical Builder Hello and a Limited Time Offer!

Happy Monday!  I can totally say that today because….I’ve got the day off! Whoo-HOOOOO!!  As I sit here typing this post – on Sunday night – I’m completely free of the “Sunday night blues”!  I’ve just spent the day – in my pajamas! – listening to music on my computer thru my bluetooth speaker (Christmas present – thanks Martin’s!), reading and making cards.  With a couple of meals thrown in.  Heck, I even left the Do Not Disturb sign on all day.

And I have every intention of repeating the whole thing again tomorrow.  Well – might have to let housekeeping come – I’m going to be out of coffee and that’s unacceptable! 😉

So, what did I make today?  This card, that uses one of my bug-a-boo designs from the Botanical Gardens DSP.  Just a hard design and color combo for me, but I decided to give it a go!  I combined that with the Botanical Builder Framelits and the Hello You Thinlits and that was it.  Take a look-see:

If you hate it, just shake your head in horror and scroll past all the rest to my limited time ordering special at the end of the post, okay?! 😉

I’ll also apologize again for the photo quality.  I broke down and ordered another light – should get here Tuesday.  Hopefully then I’ll be able to get some better pictures….

The inspiration for the design of this card came from CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge #155.  This one is kind of different – be sure to head over and see all the different ways that folks interpreted it, okay?

CTS #155 Sketch

I started by cutting a panel of the Botanical Gardens DSP and an identically sized piece of Basic Black card stock – both pieces were card front sized (so, 4″ x 5 1/4″).  I stacked the two pieces and laid the long edge-maker framelit from the Botanical Builder Framelits across them so that I’d get a curve similar to what the sketch depicts.  Obviously it’s not a jagged lightning bolt – but the spirit of the design is there!

So – I cut that, and set the two “extra” pieces aside.  Then I ran the black piece back thru the Big Shot – this time ensconced in my Brick Wall TIEF.  The only trick was to be sure the “front” side of the piece was going to get embossed (and not DE-bossed!).  But, I got it on the first try!

Botanical Hello 2 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I stuck the two pieces back together and SNAILd along the back edges.  I also ran a line of SNAIL – carefully! – down the cut curve, to ensure everything stayed together.  Since the back was all SNAILd up and sticky, I adhered it to my Cajun Craze mat.

I used my Hello You Thinlits to cut three “Hello”s.  One’s Old Olive and two are Basic Black.  I stacked them up and adhered them together with my Fine-Tip Glue Pen.  I used the same glue pen to adhere the sentiment to the card front.

Botanical Hello 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I figured it needed a little more, so….I cut some flowers and leaves (Botanical Builder Framelits) from a piece of Botanical Gardens Designer Vellum (in the Sale-A-Bration flyer).  I used a sponge and colored the flowers with Cajun Craze and the fern-y leaves with Mossy Meadow.  That gave them some color, but still kept them kind of translucent, which was my goal.  I adhered them to the card with the Fine-Tip Glue Pen.  I laid the leaves down first – arranging them so they loosely mimicked the curve of the cut out underneath.  Before I stuck the flower down, I used a couple of Glue Dots and looped some Gold Metallic Thread so that it would be under my flower.  I added the flower, stuck on a Rhinestone Basic Jewel – and painted the flower and leaves with Clear Wink of Stella.

Cuz everything is better with a little Wink! 😉

Since I was there, and I had the Wink pen out, I also brushed it over each of the Cajun Craze flowers on the DSP.  And then I thought “what the heck” and used the Gold Wink of Stella to outline the bricks on the top portion of the card.

Botanical Hello 3 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I set the card front aside and moved to the inside.  I got a little creative there…

Botanical Hello 5 - Stamps-N-Lingers

See what I did there?  I fussy cut the die cut edge from the unused piece of Basic Black card stock from where I cut the card front.  Then I adhered it to a scrap piece of the Botanical Gardens DSP (with the Wink’d up flowers!) – fussy cut the other edge – and SNAILd it to the bottom corner of a Whisper White card stock panel.  I matted that with some Cajun Craze and stuck it into my Old Olive card base, then popped the front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

Botanical Hello 1 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I used a Whisper White Medium Envelope and added a liner with more of the Botanical Gardens DSP – cutting it with my Envelope Liner Framelit…

Botanical Hello 7 - Stamps-N-Lingers

…and decorated the front with several flowers from Botanicals For You (Sale-A-Bration).  I stamped some flowers in Cajun Craze and Mint Macaron, and then some of the little leafy images in Old Olive.

Botanical Hello 6 - Stamps-N-Lingers

Et Voila!  This whole color scheme is not quite my cup of tea, but….I think it came out okay.  I’d never have put Cajun Craze, Old Olive and Mint Macaron together – but I suspect the designers at Stampin’ Up! know a whole lot more about color and design than I do, so….  I have to trust them!  Hope that you like!
