Stampin’ Up! White Christmas and….Blog Candy!

Happy Monday!

Sorry to start a blog post with an oxymoron…. 😉

After 4 days off, it’s hard to go back to work – at least it is for me!  I have just enough “slug” in me to kind of like 4 days of “slug”-ness.  Anyway…I hope your efforts to get back into the swing of things are going well!

A final reminder that today is the very last day of the Online Extravaganza – and the final day of Double Peppermints.  You can get all the details down below, including links to the sales, and to the final Flash Sale of Extravaganza – which is also today only!

And that’s the last time I’ll bug you with that – promise! 🙂

One other little admin-y thing.  Today is an Anniversary for me.  Yup.  One year ago, today, I signed up to be a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator!  Interestingly (or maybe not?), I did it whilst in a hotel!  Just like I am today!  Hmm….  So, to celebrate the occasion, I’m giving some Blog Candy away.  Read on down to see what’s on the table and how to get your name in the hat! 🙂

Today’s share is a Christmas card – using the Annual Catalog stamp set called White Christmas.  First time I’d used it and I love all the little images in it!  I paired that with the Home for Christmas DSP and came up with….well, take a look-see:

White Christmas 1 - Stamps-N-Lingers

The layout was inspired by the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #296.  Do go over and check out the projects of all the talented artists who play along – and maybe play along yourself!

SSSC 296

I really wanted to use the trees image in the White Christmas set – but it was too large to fit in the circle that the design called for.  So, I decided to fall back on a technique I’ve used a few times in the past – a layered image.  So, I laid out my Very Vanilla circle – it’s a 2 3/8″ circle from the Circles Collection Framelits – and my Very Vanilla strip onto the Home for Christmas DSP that I’d decided would be my card front.  I used some of the cool Post-It note tape (just bought some of that this weekend – it’s awesome!) to hold all of the pieces in place.  Then I inked up the trees image with Basic Black Archival Ink, and stamped the circle, the strip and the background all at the same time.  I had to stamp it twice – but I got it! 🙂

White Christmas 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I added the White Christmas buck – in Early Espresso ink – to the circle, as well as one of the tiny birds in Cherry Cobbler (I used my Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Write Marker to color him in and the Basic Black marker to touch up his eye and his wing).  To make a little “snow”, I used a Blender Pen and some Pool Party ink and colored in the snow-bank.  Then I SNAILd the circle to a mat that I’d punched from Mint Macaron card stock with my 2 1/2″ Circle Punch.

White Christmas 3 - Stamps-N-Lingers

The sentiment is from the White Christmas set, stamped in Cherry Cobbler ink.  A few golden metallic stars from the Metallics Sequin Assortment, each embellished with a Rhinestone Basic Jewel completed the embellishments.  The strip is also matted on a piece of Mint Macaron and SNAILd to the card front. And then I popped the completed circle over the stamped image – lining everything up – with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I added a Snowflake Element – I squished it in my Versamark pad and then into my Pool Party Pad, then sprinkled it with Iridescent Ice Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heated it up.  It’s adhered with a little bit of Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue. I gave it a Rhinestone, just to bling it up and tie it in with the stars.

White Christmas 2 - Stamps-N-Lingers

The final element of the front of the card is the ribbon-y looking piece up in the top right corner.  I squished a little strip of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper into my Pool Party ink pad – I wanted the Dazzle – but not the “white-ness” of the glimmer paper.  Then I cut a banner end (yes, I didn’t bring my Banner Triple Punch, so had to go old-school!) on the strip.  I adhered a slightly smaller piece of the Home for Christmas DSP, also banner-ized.  I adhered everything together and to the card front with Liquid Glue.

For the inside, I used a piece of Very Vanilla and stamped the second White Christmas sentiment in Cherry Cobbler.  Adding another Early Espresso tree (just one side of the front image), Cherry Cobbler bird and a star (colored with my Daffodil Delight Marker) seemed like a grand idea.  So I did!

White Christmas 5 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I SNAILd that to my Mint Macaron card base and then popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

For the envelope, I added a Home for Christmas DSP liner, cut with the Envelope Liner Framelit, to a Very Vanilla Medium Envelope….

White Christmas 7 - Stamps-N-Lingers

…and an Early Espresso buck and Daffodil Delight star to the front.

White Christmas 6 - Stamps-N-Lingers

Et Voila!  This is such a fun stamp set – with so many images to choose from.  I’m really glad that it made it from last year’s Holiday Catalog to the Annual Catalog – hopefully it’ll be around for a long time! 🙂

I’ll be back tomorrow with Weekly Deals and….all the info on the Stamps-N-Lingers 2015 Occasions Catalog Shares.  Hope you’re ready for that! 🙂

P.S.  Oh wait!  I mentioned something about Blog Candy to celebrate my One-Year Stamp-i-Versary (I just made that up!)  Well, here ’tis!

Up for grabs is a couple of stamp sets – A Little Something (unused) and Cozy Christmas (very lightly used!), a pack of Home for Christmas Enamel Dots and a pack of Season of Cheer Washi Tape.

1 Year Anniversary Blog Candy

  2. Linda Coy

Hi Mary – Just wanted to tell you how lovely your card is. Thanks for the directions as I want to try this myself! I enjoy your posts very much and have learned from them. My wish for Christmas – I would like to have the ink pad-marker-refill unit from Stamp N Storage so I can better organize my craft room. Again thank you for all your creative hard work.

    • Thanks, Linda – that’s very nice! I have that storage unit from StampNStorage -and it’s awesome!! I hope that Santa brings it to you – now’d be a good time for him to get it – they’ve got sales going on! 🙂

  3. Kay V

Thanks for a chance to win this nice blog candy. I would like to receive a huge gift certificate for Stampin up goodies. I love your card today and will try to case it too.

    • You’re welcome, and thank you! It’s an easy CASE, so have fun. And I’ll try to pass your wish on to Santa! Its sounds a lot like mine…. 🙂

  4. Dayle

Love your card, and appreciate the detailed instructions on how to create it. I would like Santa to bring me any stamp sets that I can share with my granddaughter, as I have been teaching her how to stamp. She’s already hooked and she’s only 10! Happy holidays!

    • Uh-oh! A stampin’ addict so early in life! That’s a good addiction to have. Thanks for the nice words, Dayle! If you win the Blog Candy, I think these will be good to share with her. Good luck! 🙂

  5. Mom

You know I love this woodsy scheme. Really beautiful card, Mary! And if I could pick, it would be for you to show up at my door to deliver even the smallest item in the inventory…with a lean towards the woods, of course. 😃

  6. Patty S.

Great blog candy Mary! Would love to get some storage units for my craft room and some new shelving.

    • Funny how more storage is on all our lists! Maybe cause we keep getting new stamping goodies?? 😉 Thanks, Patty – hope your Santa wish comes true! 🙂

  7. Debbie G

Beatiful Deer card, Mary ! Great blog candy. I hope Santa brings Me lots of die cuts and a new paper trimmer.
“Dear Santa, I have been a VERY Good Girl all year”

  8. Ah – good choice all! Thanks for the nice words, Debbie! 🙂

  9. Congratulations on your one year anniversary! Love your card-that stamp set is really cute, and I have not used it enough this year! I especially like how you did your tree on the inside of the card!

  10. I think I’m going to ask santa for the magnet plate to keep my dies in place. I think I have been a good girl this year so just maybe lol

  11. You will LOVE it!! Hopefully he brings it for you. Thanks, Bonnie! 🙂

  12. JRGH

Congrats on your one year Anniversary. Besides wanting everything in the 2016 Occasions catalog, I want a set of Weather Tech mats for my Dodge Journey, we live on a gravel road, have black carpet, do you know how much dirt shows on my black carpet, white car, tan interior? Hope Santa gets them ordered in time for Christmas. I have been a very good girl and not ordered the entire catalog, yet!

  13. Joni

congratulations! Of course I’m hoping Santa brings me Stampin Up goodies for Christmas.

  14. Thanks! And I sure DO get the whole dirt in the car thing! We live on a dirt road, down a 1/3 mile dirt/gravel driveway! And I drive a white Odyssey!! We don’t have the Weather Tech’s but we got the weather mats from Honda. They’re great and I bet the Weather Techs are even better! Fingers crossed that Santa gets to ordering soon!! 🙂

  15. Lynn C.

Love the deer and trees card. I wouldn’t have thought of using mint macaroon, it works wonderfully. First I would love more Stampin Up products for Christmas. Second would be a Fitbit to encourage me to get moving after crafting. Thanks for the chance to win the blog candy.

    • Thanks, Lynn! Your gift wishes sound good – but I’d need the FitBit to actually SHOCK me or something to “encourage” me to get moving! 😉 Good luck!

  16. Patricia

Hi Mary, Merry Christmas! Your give-always are always so generous! For Christmas, I would like my son to be better. He has been battling a severe illness for over six years. I pray for him everyday. Take good care of yourself as you are away from home this month.

    • Oh Patricia! I do so hope that your Christmas wish comes true -and am so sorry you’ve all had to deal with such a thing for so long. Take the best of card, my friend! 🙂

  17. Kathy Hendrey

I would really love to have one of the storage units for my ink pads, markers and refills from stamp n storage but will have to wait unless Santa brings it to me! Wink, wink, Santa!

    • All good things, Kathy! Especially the storage – I love mine so much! But, I had to just be Santa for myself on those! Hope your Santa is paying attention! 😉

Santa wish list is – pots and pans, 2 hour of quiet time, snow on Christmas (live in TX) just enough to make it pretty 🙂

    • That’s the kind of snow I like, too – just enough to see on Christmas and ooh and ahh (and take a picture as proof that it snowed in Atlanta!) and then I’d like it to just….disappear. And skip the mud stage! Hoping your wishes come true – thanks for stopping by! 🙂

  32. Barbara

I would like to get lots of stamp time after the holidays. Thanks for a chance to win all the goodies.
