Good Friday morning! By the time this publishes I should be a few hours down the road on my way to Tampa for the first On-Stage Live event! I’m excited – this will be my first official Stampin’ Up! event (I hemmed/hawed/deliberated/debated too long this past summer and missed out on the last ever SU! Convention. 🙁 ) So, this should be fun. We’re going to do make-and-takes (I assume, since they told us to bring acrylic handles and solicited volunteers to bring their Big Shots!) and get a sneak peek of the upcoming 2016 Occasions Catalog!
For today, since I’m drafting this on Thursday evening, and my clothes are in the dryer (and not in my suitcase!), I’ve picked a little project that will be quick to share. It’s a Gift Card holder – everyone gives gift cards and we’re heading into the Gift-Card-Giving-Season! – easily made using a SU! Sketched Dots Tag A Bag Gift Bag, the Happy Notes and A Little Something stamp sets, and some easy embellishments. Take a look-see:
To make the holder itself, all I did was fold the bag up from the bottom – I folded it a smidge more than 2 1/2″ from the bottom, and then used SNAIL on the sides to adhere it all in place. That yields TWO pockets in which to place goodies. In the front pocket – the shorter one – I stuck a Gift Card. And I made a tag to place in the back, larger pocket.
Obviously, this little holder can be customized for whatever occasion you like – Christmas, a Birthday, a new baby, whatever! Just change the sentiment on the tag and the embellishments, and you’ll be GTG.
That’s text-eze for Good To Go. I’m pretty savvy about these things, you know. I just channel my inner tween! 🙂
To decorate my little card holder, I used two strips of Into the Woods DSP. I used SNAIL to adhere the narrower strip to the wide band and then wrapped it all around the bag, burnishing the folds with my Bone Folder. I made the seam be in the front, where I was going to cover it with my bling!
My bling is a couple of leaves cut with my Leaflets Framelits – one maple leaf cut from Kraft Corrugated Paper and one oak leaf cut from Blackberry Bliss card stock. I stuck the stems together with some Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue and then glued both leaves to a small Gold Metallic Foil Doily. So – it’a a Doily/Corrugated Maple/Blackberry Bliss Oak Leaf stack! I stuck the whole shebang to the belly band with Liquid Glue.
The tag on the front is a two-piecer. I stamped the sentiment from A Little Something, in Blackberry Bliss Ink, on a piece of Whisper White card stock, and punched it out with my Hexagon Punch. I glued that to a second tag that I’d punched with my Note Tag Punch. The sentiment comes from the Wondrous Wreath stamp set and is stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. I used a Gold Mini Metallic Clothespin – which I glued to the stems of the leaf cutouts – to clip the tags. Then I tied a double bow of Crushed Curry Baker’s Twine and stuck it to the clothespin with a teensy dab of Liquid Glue.
I decided to make this a House-Warming gift card holder – so the inner tag uses the cute moving stamp from Happy Notes. To make the tag, I used the three largest dies in the Lots of Labels Framelits. The smallest of the three cut my Whisper White piece, then a piece of Into the Woods DSP, and the largest label is Blackberry Bliss card stock. I used SNAIL to adhered them together.
I stamped the car and sentiment in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and then colored the boxes with my Stampin’ Write Markers – Island Indigo for the water in the fish bowl, Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze and Blackberry Bliss. To make a hole for my tag tie, I used the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack star punch and then ran a double length of Crushed Curry Baker’s Twine thru it.
Et Voila! An uber-cute Gift Card holder. So easy that I promise it took longer to type this post than it took to make it! The little bags are super economical, too – you get 10 bags for $4.00. That’s a lot of quick gift card holders! Or – how about this idea? Don’t make the fold. Add your front embellishments, but instead of To and From – hand write the name of a guest. Slide a home-made cookie in the bag, and….instant place cards for your Thanksgiving table. Change the DSP and maybe use Perfect Pines die cuts or the Tree Punch – and you have Christmas place cards. But yummy ones! Just throwin’ some other thoughts out there for you!
Well, when next you hear from me, I’ll be in Tampa. Whoo-hoo! 🙂
Hope your weekend is shaping up to be a good one.
