Stampin’ Up! Sprinkles of Life And Many More

When I take either of my cats to the vet – which I avoid at all possible costs (due, mostly, to the fact that they both get quite carsick and it’s pretty much a nightmare for all of us) – they somehow….know.  Long before I actually GET the cat carrier.  I don’t know how.  Cat ESPN, perhaps?  Whatever it is, as soon as I even THINK – “hey, I need to get the carriers so we can take the cat(s) to the vet” – they’re just gone.  Under a chair, deep in the bowels of the chair actually (sorry I said “bowels” on the internet).  Up so high that they can’t be reached, cowering in fear.  Yes, they detest the carrier, the car, the vet, the outdoors…. 🙂

Why do I tell you this story, you ask?

Well, right now, my MasterCard is pulling a “cat about to go to the vet” routine in my wallet.  Trying to make itself as tiny as possible, in the hopes that it will be passed over…..

Because…..

Tomorrow is the start of the SU! Demonstrator Pre-Order for the 2015 Holiday Catalog! Whoo-hoo-hoo-HOO!!  I’ve tried so hard to not make a list as long as my arm, but….I’ve been a little less than successful, I fear.

My husband would be relating to my MasterCard’s feelings. If he only knew…shhh….let’s just keep this a little thing between you, me and the blogisphere, shall we??

Anywho….on to today’s card.

So – this morning (it’s Sunday evening as I write this), I got a post from the Can You Case It blogsite.  And look-ee at the sketch they had for this week’s challenge:

CYCI #80

It made me think of the challenge from which I’d taken my inspiration on Sunday –   Sunday Stamps Challenge #106:

Awesomely Artistic Window SSC 106 Sketch

First – let me take a quick plug for the ladies and gentlemen who take time out of their “regular” lives and from their own crafting to bring these great sketches to the rest of us.  I know that I watch for new ideas to come into my Inbox each day.  Thank you ALL! 🙂

I love BOTH these sketches and was immediately intrigued and thinking about a new card.  About that same time, I heard my name being (figuratively, not literally!) called by the four little card stock squares that I’d cut for the mask for my last card.  There they were, just begging to be used.  It was fate, I tell ya!!  So, I decided to yield to the call of the Universe and this is what I came up with.  Take a look-see:

It’s a depiction of the seasons, get it?  Winter….Spring….Summer….and Fall!  Here’s how I put it together.

I started by using the Sprinkles of Life tree, in Soft Suede, on all four of my leftover Very Vanilla Squares.  Then I stamped the flowers-and-leaves on the tree that would be Spring, in Pear Pizzazz.  And I stamped two of the other trees with the leaves stamp – the Summer tree is stamped in Mossy Meadow and the Fall Tree is stamped in Soft Suede.

Then I pulled out a bunch of Stampin’ Write Markers from my Many Marvelous Markers set (it’s so much fun to have the entire range of colors to choose from!).  Here’s the recipe for each tree:

  • Fall:  Soft Suede leaves are colored with Pumpkin Pie, Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze and Tangerine Tango.
  • Spring:  Pear Pizzazz leaves and flowers are colored with Pear Pizzazz, Pink Pirouette, Real Red, Daffodil Delight and a White Gel Pen.
  • Summer:  Mossy Meadow leaves are colored with Old Olive, Wild Wasabi, and Always Artichoke
  • Winter:  no leaves, obviously, but I drew in some snowflakes in Slate Gray, Soft Sky, Marina Mist and the White Gel Pen

Then I used my Sponge Daubers to lightly ink up the edges of each square.

  • Fall: Pumpkin Pie
  • Spring: Pear Pizzazz
  • Summer: Wild Wasabi
  • Winter:  Night of Navy

Finally, I used the little bird from the Sprinkles of Life set and stamped him on the winter tree in Real Red.  Then realized he should have been black, so I could COLOR him in in red.  So I traced over him with my Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker.  And then colored him Real Red.

For the mats, I just cut 1/8″ bigger squares on my Stampin’ Up! Trimmer in the following colors:

  • Fall: So Saffron
  • Spring: Pink Pirouette
  • Summer: Wild Wasabi
  • Winter: Soft Sky

I SNAILd each art square to its mat, and then worked on the card front.

I cut a 4″ square piece of the new Kraft and White Corrugated Paper in Kraft (I was so happy to see this paper FINALLY in the SU! inventory – it’s so much fun to use and very versatile!) and SNAILd it to a mat of Early Espresso.  And then I popped it onto my Very Vanilla Card Base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I mounted the squares kind of oddly.  I wanted to pop them up, but only a little, so I adhered a piece of scrap Corrugated paper to the back of each square and then SNAILd that “stack” onto the card front.  Finally, I stuck a tiny Rhinestone Basic Jewel onto the Winter square.

The sentiment comes from the And Many More set, and is stamped in Soft Suede.  The final touch is a double bow of a length of Linen Thread and a length of Metallic Gold Thread.  I stuck it on with a tiny dab of Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.

For the inside, I went back to the Sprinkles For Life set, and stamped the grasses and stems in Mossy Meadow across the bottom of the card.  The flowers are stamped in Pink Pirouette and Blushing Bride, and then filled in with Pink Pirouette.  A tiny dot of Crushed Curry in the center of each flower, and filling in the leaves with Pear Pizzazz finished the line.

I thought it would be fun to put the little bird in, too – this time I remembered and stamped it in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and then colored it in with the Real Red Stampin’ Write Marker.

For the envelope, I repeated the line of flowers and the little bird on a Very Vanilla Medium Envelope.

Et Voila!  A sweet Any Occasion card to add to my stash of ready-to-go cards and notes.  And another example of the versatility of the Sprinkles of Life stamp set!

See below for all the card cuts and products used in this card.

And – you know, if YOU were a SU! Demonstrator, you’d be getting ready to make YOUR pre-order right now and planning all your fun Christmas and Holiday Cards.  I can help you with that, if you like.  Just sayin’! 🙂

You’ve still got time to leave me a comment on yesterday’s card to be entered for the blog candy!  Here’s the link.

Happy Monday, y’all!
