Stampin’ UP! Relaxing Waterside Ice Cream Shop Birthday Card for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Good morning, y’all It’s Thursday, which means it’s time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop.  We’ve got a color challenge to work with and I’m excited to see what everyone brings to the table.  I just know you’re going to see a ton of awesome-ness on the hop today!

Our challenge this week led me to the obvious (and easy!) choice of using the Waterside Retreat DSP for my card.  I leaned ALL the way in and paired it up with the coordinating Relaxing Waterside bundle to make an easy birthday card – which you might find highly suitable for the men on your list.  Take a look-see:

And – I’m sure you’d figured it out already – but here’s the color challenge!

I know – I really went out on a design limb, huh!? 😉

I started by adhering some woodgrain Waterside Retreat DSP to the front of my Gray Granite card base using Liquid Glue.

I picked two striped pieces of the Waterside Retreat DSP and matted them on Pecan Pie cardstock – then adhered them to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I trimmed a “scene” panel from the DSP down to 2 3/4″ x 3 3/4″ – making sure to keep the ice cream shop and it’s fun sign in the middle of the panel.  I matted it on Pecan Pie and adhered it to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

On a piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the Adirondack chair from Relaxing Waterside in Misty Moonlight ink.  Using a Light Misty Moonlight Stampin’ Blend, I colored the chair.  I outlined it with a Light Pool Party Stampin’ Blend and cut it out with the coordinating die in the set.

I adhered the chair to the card front with Liquid Glue and a couple Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I tied a little bow from Linen Thread and adhered it with a little bit of Liquid Glue.

On a piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped a Relaxing Waterside sentiment in Pecan Pie ink and cut it out with a small Perennial Postage die.  Then I adhered it to the card front – over the bow – with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I stamped the little book image from Relaxing Waterside in Misty Moonlight on a piece of Basic White cardstock.  I colored it with the Light Pool Party Stampin’ Blend and cut it out with its coordinating die.

I adhered the book to the sentiment with a Stampin’ Dimensional and a little Liquid Glue, added three Old Olive Dewdrops Embellishments and the card front was done.

On the inside, I stamped a second Relaxing Waterside sentiment in Pecan Pie ink on a piece of Baisc White cardstock.  I stamped the Relaxing Waterside seagull in Misty Moonlight ink.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to the inside of the Gray Granite card base and the card was done.

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Relaxing Waterside seagull on the front…

…and more of the Waterside Retreat DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  The Waterside Retreat DSP – and coordinating Relaxing Waterside bundle – is a perfect tool to have in your toolchest.  It helps you create cards for any- and every-one on your list.  But it truly shines when you need a card for men – it will make a notoriously hard “thing” (making cards for guys!) SOOO much easier! 🙂

I hope you like!
