Good morning, y’all – welcome to another edition of the Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Team blog hop! Each month we make projects centered around a theme – and this month our theme is Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays! Be sure to check out everyone’s projects – we’ve got a bunch of talented ladies hopping with us this month!
I’ve been playing with an idea to make a patchwork card front using the Take A Bow die and I decided to give it a go for today’s card! I used that die to cut Take a Bow 6″ x 6″ DSP and then added a Decorative Trees die cut tree and a sentiment using the Christmas Labels die set. Take a look-see:
And I caught several elements in this week’s Tic-Tac-Toe challenge. I went down the right column (Tree-DSP-Festive Sentiment) and across the bottom (Die Cut – Metallic Element – Festive Sentiment).
I started by using the large Take a Bow die (there’s only one die in the set) to cut out a set of strips from two designs of the Take a Bow 6″ x 6″ DSP.
I wove them in a lattice – think…top crust on a cherry pie.
I kept adding strips until it was large enough that the next-to-largest Deckled Rectangle die would fit on it. Then I used Liquid Glue at the “junctions” to adhere it all together.
I placed it in the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Machine with the next-to-largest Deckled Rectangle die in place – and realized there were going to be “gaps” in a couple of the corners that needed them.
So – before I cut it, I used Liquid Glue to adhere pieces of the DSP (I had some extra die cut strips that I just “pieced in” at the corners.
I ran it thru the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Machine and…boom!
I cut a Garden Green mat using the largest Deckled Rectangle die and then popped my patchwork card front onto it with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
On a piece of Granny Apple Green cardstock, I stamped the tree image from Decorative Trees in Garden Green and then cut it out with the coordinating die in the set.
I adhered the die cut tree to the card front with Liquid Glue. I cut out a Gold Foil star using the die in the Decorative Trees set and adhere it onto the top of the tree with a Stampin’ Dimensional.
I used two lengths of new Gold Twisted Thread to tie a simple bow and adhered it with Liquid Glue.
On a piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the Decorative Trees sentiment in Real Red ink and cut it out with a Christmas Labels die.
I adhered the sentiment over the bow with double-stacked Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I added some Gold Textured Adhesive-backed Dots and the card front was done.
For the inside, I stamped the Decorative Trees sentiment in Real Red on a Basic White panel. In the corner, I stamped the Decorative Trees tree in Garden Green ink. My friend, Carol Buckalew (InkyBeeStampers), reminded me in one of her videos that Wild Wheat is a SUPER substitute for “Gold” – so…I stamped the Decorative Trees star in Wild Wheat ink!
I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to the inside of my Thick Basic White card base, adhered the card front with Liquid Glue and the card was done!
My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Decorative Trees tree and star on the front…
…and more of the Take a Bow 6″ x 6″ DSP on the envelope flap.
Et Voila! So…what do you think of my patchwork/lattice card front? I loved how fast I got perfectly sized strips using the Take a Bow Die – which comes bundled with the Take a Bow 6″ x 6″ DSP! Perfect! And Decorative Trees is – and will likely always be! – one of my fave sets. It’s not available right this second – but is expected back around 2 Dec! Christmas Labels dies are super handy to have in your tool chest – sentiment labels are ALWAYS needed, right?! 🙂
I hope you like!
