Good morning and Happy Friday! Hope your week has gone well and that you’ve got something fun on the horizon for the weekend! Today’s my Mom’s birthday so…send happy birthday thoughts her way, okay?! 🙂
It’s fun fold week again – yay! – and I pulled out one of my faves. The book-fold is super easy and super fun to decorate. For my thank you card today, I decorated it with the elegant Regal Winter DSP and Regal Flora bundle! Take a look-see:
The elegant color scheme is from the Sunday Stamps color challenge!
You’ll see this card – along with the other Design Team members’ cards – at this week’s Creative Creases Challenge! We’re all about the fun folds and I hope you’ll come and join us – we would LOVE for you to share YOUR fun fold creations with us!
I started with a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Night of Navy cardstock that, using my Paper Trimmer, I scored on the long side at 5 1/2″ and again at 6 3/4″.
I folded the 5 1/2” score line as a “mountain” – so….you know, ”regular”! – and at the 6 3/4” score in the opposite direction. Topographically speaking, that would be a “valley” fold!
Using Liquid Glue between the 5 1/2” and 6 3/4” score lines, I adhered the front of the card base to the back – just in that 1 1/4” area. This made the “book” or “side” fold.
And from there – it’s all decorating! Easy and also peasy!
I used Liquid Glue to adhere a strip of the beautiful Regal Winter DSP to a Basic White mat and then to the narrow “book” panel on the left side of the card front. I matted a 4″ x 4″ piece of the DSP on Basic White and adhered it to the large side of the card front with Liquid Glue.
On a piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped a bunch of flowers and leaves from the Regal Flora stamp set:
– Three flower image in Moody Mauve ink
– Single flower image in Moody Mauve ink
– Single flower image in Balmy Blue ink
– Three flower image in Highland Heather ink
– Large leaves image in Copper Clay ink
– Small leaves image in Boho Blue ink – I made two of these.
I used the coordinating dies in the set to cut out all the flowers and leaves – and also cut out the pretty frame.
I adhered one of the small Boho Blue leaves, the large Copper Clay leaf and the frame with Liquid Glue.
Then I layered the Highland Heather and Balmy Blue flowers with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I tied a simple bow with two lengths of Lost Lagoon Soft Cording and adhered it with Liquid Glue.
I layered the final two flowers over the top with Dimensionals to complete the collage.
On a piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the “thanks” image three times in Night of Navy ink and snipped them out with Paper Snips.
I adhered the three fussy cut sentiments with Liquid Glue, added some Fresh Freesia gems from the Tinsel Gems Three-Pack and the card front was done!
On the inside, I stamped a second sentiment from Regal Flora in Night of Navy on a Basic White panel. In the corner I stamped that pretty little leaf a few times – twice in full strength Boho Blue and once in stamped-off-once Boho Blue. I used the Highland Heather Stampin’ Write Marker to add little doodle dots around the leaves.
I adhered the panel to the inside of the card base and the card was done!
My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Boho Blue leaves and Highland Heather doodle-dots on the front…
…and more of that gorgeous Regal Winter DSP on the envelope flap.
Et Voila! Well – I think you can see why I love the book-fold cards. They’re as easy to make as a “regular” card but…with an added little “oomph”! And when you have beautiful papers – like the Regal Winter DSP – it gives you some great real estate to show it off. The addition of the crisp, white frame and pretty flowers from the Regal Flora bundle is just icing on the cake! 🙂
