Stampin’ Up! Adventurous Sky Birthday Book Fold Easel Card for Creative Creases #82

Good morning and Happy Friday!  Today we head down to Rome to pre-position for our flight home tomorrow.  I am sad that it’s over – but…really looking forward to seeing my Finny-Win!!

My card today is a cool book-fold easel card featuring the Adventurous Sky bundle and coordinating Take to the Sky DSP!  I’d thought for a minute that this kind of fold would be perfect for this bundle and…I think I was right!  Take a look-see:

You’ll see this card – along with the other Design Team members’ cards –  at this week’s Creative Creases Challenge! We’re all about the Fun Folds and I hope you’ll come and join us!

I started with a basic book fold card – but added an additional score line to turn it into an Easel Card!  I scored the 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Copper Clay cardstock at 5 1/2″, 6 3/4″ and 8 7/8″.

I folded the 5 1/2″ score line as a mountain (“regular”) and the 6 3/4″ score line in the opposite direction.

Using Liquid Glue between the 5 1/2″ and 6 3/4″ score lines, I adhered the front of the card base to the back – just in that 1 1/4” area. This made the “book” fold. Then I folded the 8 7/8″ line as a mountain – to make the easel!

I matted a piece of topographical map paper from the Take to the Sky DSP to Night of Navy mat and adhered it to the front easel panel.

I matted some two pieces of cloud paper on Night of Navy – and adhered THEM to the top easel panel – and the book fold panel – using Liquid Glue.

I matted a piece of Basic White cardstock on Night of Navy and adhered it on the inside of the card base.   Then I matted another piece of the topographical Take to the Sky DSP on Night of Navy and adhered it to the Basic White inner liner.  This is where the easel stop would go in a little bit.

To make the easel stop, I stamped the large cloud image in stamped-off-once Boho Blue ink on Basic White.  Over it, I added the sentiment in Copper Clay.  Then I cut it out with the large Adventurous Sky die.  I didn’t adhere it at this point – but I had it for “dry fitting” the rest of the card.

For the front, I used the dies in the Adventurous Sky set to cut out a Smoky Slate fuselage and propeller and a Night of Navy wing.  I used Liquid Glue to assemble the plane.

I also cut a large and a small cloud from Basic White cardstock.

I folded the card as an easel – using my die cut easel stop to help me figure where it was going to land – and then adhered the clouds to the top of the easel panel.

I added the plane over them using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

On a strip of Basic White cardstock, I stamped a sentiment from Adventurous Sky in Copper Clay ink.  I used my Paper Snips to cut a diagonal end on the left side.  I did the same with a slightly longer piece of Copper Clay paper from the Take to the Sky DSP.

Using Liquid Glue – I adhered the DSP strip to the card front and then the sentiment over the top.

I positioned the easel so it was how I wanted it to be in “display” mode – and then used Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the easel stop into position – and the card was done!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the large cloud image in Boho Blue ink on the front…

…and more Take to the Sky DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I love this Take to the Sky suite so much, don’t you!?  Between the DSP and the fun airplanes and cool sentiments in the Adventurous Sky bundle – there are so many cool cards that you can make!  Up up and away!!

I hope you like!

Such a cool design! Love the layout and the fun fold design is perfect for that plane die cut. 🙂

What a great easel card, Mary! It’s perfect for any aviation enthusiast, male or female. I thought I could resist this suite of products since my father isn’t here to make it for, but I think I have to get it anyway. My son and grandson would love it too. I know you’re sorry to leave beautiful Italy! I’m happy that it’s been a wonderful trip for you and look forward to hearing more about it! Safe travels!!

Thank you so much, Debbie – it’s a wonderful suite and…eveyone pretty much needs to have it on their shelves!! Glad you’ve enjoyed the photos! 🙂

A book fold easel card?! Brilliant! I’ll definitely have to give this fold a try! And using that sweet little cloud as the stop for the easel is so perfect! Love the cloud DSP, too! I love puns, so that sentiment is awesome!

Thanks so much, Carrie Ann – I appreciate it! Love this suite! 🙂

  4. Mary, another fantabulous fun-fold. You have a wonderful way with color and the uncanny talent of twisting my arm from far away. The bundle is moving up my list.

    So great!
