Stampin’ Up! Sweetest Candy Cane Christmas Cheer for the Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop

Good morning, y’all – welcome to another edition of the Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Team blog hop!  Each month we make projects centered around a theme – and this month our theme is “Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays”!  We can interpret that any way we want – so…be sure to check and see everyone’s projects – we’ve got a bunch of talented ladies hopping with us this month!

Candy canes are everywhere at Christmas – have you ever hung them on your tree for decorations?  We did that one year – with two German Shepherds in the house.  We came home to find that the entire bottom half of the tree – as high as they could reach – was totally de-nuded of candy canes.  Last time using edible decor! 😉

So…I pulled out our Sweet Candy Canes bundle and some pretty Sweetest Christmas DSP – and a few pine boughs from the Decorated Pine die set for my Christmas card contribution.  Take a look-see:

The layout for this card is from the FUSION sketch challenge this week.

I started by adhering two pieces of Sweetest Christmas DSP to a Sweet Sorbet mat using Stampin’ Seal.

Then I adhered a narrow strip of Sweet Sorbet cardstock across the “seam” using Liquid Glue.  I wrapped a length of Garden Green 3/8″ Ribbon around the card – securing it in the back with Glue Dots.

Using the big and beautiful pine bough die from the Decorated Pines die set, I cut two boughs from Garden Green cardstock and one from Vellum cardstock.

I trimmed the stem off both Garden Green boughs…

…and divided the Vellum bough into two boughs – then adhered them to the card front with Liquid Glue.

Using the largest circle die in the Stylish Shapes set, I cut out a Basic White circle and popped it over the boughs with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

One of the cool things about the Sweetest Christmas DSP is that you can use the dies in the Candy Canes Die Set to cut pre-printed canes right out of the paper.

So – I cut out two and adhered them to the circle with Liquid Glue.

I stamped a Sweet Candy Canes sentiment in Sweet Sorbet on Basic White and cut it out with one of the banner dies in the Stylish Shapes set.

I popped the sentiment over the canes with Stampin’ Dimensionals, added some Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels and the card front was done!

For the inside, I stamped a second Sweet Candy Canes sentiment in Sweet Sorbet on a Basic White cardstock panel.  In the corner, I stamped a couple of boughs in Garden Green – also from Sweet Candy Canes.

I used Stampin’ Seal to adhere the panel to a Sweet Sorbet mat and into my Garden Green card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Sweet Candy Canes boughs in Garden Green on the front…

…and more of the Sweetest Christmas DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  ALMOST guaranteed to NOT be eaten by your fur-kids, these Sweet Candy Canes are quick and easy to add to your holiday projects. I am a total fan of being able to die cut images from DSP like these Sweetest Christmas DSP candy canes, aren’t you?!  And – I feel sure you know exactly how much I love the pine boughs in Decorated Pines, right?!

  5. Susan K

I love it! So cute and festive and Christmasy! TFS. I don’t imagine that Finn would bother candy canes on a tree…although I think I’ve seen him eat a peppermint with the girls.

    • stampsnlingers

He MIGHT not…but…PEPPERMINT!! LOL! Thanks, Susan! 🙂

  6. Love this card – the contrasting DSP, the ribbon, the vellum die cut pine needles – love it all!
