Stampin’ Up! Elephant Parade Baby’s Birthday Book Fold Easel Fun Fold

Good morning!  It’s Monday again, y’all!  Hope you’re enjoying Daylight Standard Time.  I love it so much!

Said no one EVER!  YUK!!  On the treadmill in the dark.  Feed ponies in the evening in the dark.  Final walk around with Finn – IN THE DARK!  🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Did I already say…YUK!?!

On a MUCH brighter note – I learned that the little baby brush (personalized, thank you very much!) was a BIG hit with miss Jules.  Appears she’s walking around the house brushing her almost-luxurious locks with it – refusing to hand it over.  Score!! 😉

I am hoping her parents liked the card that went with – and I’ll share it with you today!  It’s a sweet little book-fold-easel card (one of my fave folds!) – and it’s adorned with an adorable heffalump from the Elephant Parade set and some Happy Forest Friends DSP.  Take a look-see:

I love this fold for when I NEED a square card but don’t WANT a square card!  It’s the best of both worlds.

The layout for the easel panel is from the Freshly Made Sketches challenge this week!

I know – a fun fold might not be considered “simple” but…I’m on a quest to make fun folds feel easier (and THIS one is really simple!!).  So – hang with me!

I started with a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of So Saffron cardstock scored at 5 1/2″, 6 3/4″ and 8 7/8″ along the long-side.  I folded the 5 1/2” score as a mountain (like a regular card). Then folded the 6 3/4” score the opposite direction. Finally – I folded the 8 7/8″ score opposite that (so…another mountain).

I used Liquid Glue between the two closest score lines (5 1/2″ and 6 3/4″) – then pressed the card front to the back – this adhered them together and created the top-fold.

I matted a piece of Happy Forest Friends on a piece of Petal Pink cardstock and adhered it to the narrow panel (the “book binding” if you will).

Next, I cut a 3 7/8″ x 4″ piece of Happy Forest Friends and cut it in half on the 3 7/8″ side.  I did the math for y’all – and that’s cut at the 1 15/16″ mark – once again, the Stampin’ Up! Paper Trimmer is your buddy!

Then I used Liquid Glue to adhere the two pieces of DSP to a 4 1/8″ x 4 1/8″ Petal Pink mat – with a little gap between them!

Using the largest square Stylish Shapes die – I cut a second design from Happy Forest Friends and adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.

On a piece of Basic White, I stamped the Elephant Parade heffalump in Basic Gray – then colored her with my Petal Pink (inside ears and finger/toenails) and Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends.  I cut out the image with the next-to-largest Stylish Shapes circle die.

I stamped the “1” from the Alphabest stamp set in Calypso Coral and then hand-wrote “st” with the Calypso Coral Stampin’ Write Marker.  Then I popped the circle onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I added Liquid Glue to the front panel of the card base (the last panel of the easel) and adhered the card front panel to that – just on the bottom half – creating the easel/card front.

For the inside, I adhered a 4″ x 4″ piece of the Happy Forest Friends DSP to a Petal Pink mat.  On a large Stylish Shapes square of Basic White, I stamped a sentiment from Elephant Parade in Calypso Coral.  Then I added a few butterflies in Basic Gray – coloring them with my So Saffron and Petal Pink Stampin’ Blends.

For the easel stop, I stamped an Elephant Parade sentiment in Calypso Coral on Basic White, cut it out with a Stylish Shapes banner die and popped it in place with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I added some Champagne Rhinestones to the easel stop and the card card front and the card was done!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got some butterflies on the front…

…and a little more Happy Forest Friends DSP on the envelope flap!

Et Voila!  That little lady (and her friends!) from Elephant Parade are simply too stinkin’ cute, don’t you think!?  I love that you ALSO get sweet sentiments and butterflies in the set!  I also like the versatility of the Happy Forest Friends DSP – soft colors – and fun designs all over!  😉

I hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

We had another get-acclimated playdate at Jan’s today.  And Finn “discovered” that there’s an ALIEN in the pasture!!!! 😳😳😳

There was much barking and bouncing – so Ed went to make the formal introductions.

Finn, this is Maybell.  Maybell – Finn.

Higgins had Finn’s back.  JIC.  One never really knows what an alien will think of to do next.

I think Maybell is asking Ed – what’s up with THAT fool!?  Never seen a cow in someone’s backyard before?!?

Mr. Ed is pretty brave…PETTING the alien.

But…as familiarity breeds….boredom…

…time to move on.  Things to do – body slams to give! 🙂

Finn – out.
