Stampin’ Up! Boughs of Holly for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Good morning, y’all!  It’s Thursday – which means it’s time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop!  We’ve got a great color challenge to work with and I’m excited to see what everyone brings to the table – I just know you’re going to see a ton of awesome-ness on the hop today!

The color challenge screamed BOUGHS OF HOLLY to me, so…never one to ignore a screaming challenge – I pulled it out!  And I matched it up with its coordinating Leaves of Holly stamp set and bundled Holly Berry Dies.  Plus…some pretty texture from the pine bough folder in the Wintry 3D Embossing Folders set.  Take a look-see:

And here’s the screaming color challenge!

Cuz I’m needy, I also borrowed the layout – this one is from the sketch side of the FUSION challenge.

I started by embossing a piece of Basic White cardstock in the pine-bough Wintry 3D Embossing Folder.  It’s a “mini” folder so I ran the panel thru twice – moving the folder to get the whole panel.  It leaves a light seam – but…it was easy to cover with the layout of my card.

Next, I took some Boughs of Holly DSP and tore it down to about a 1 1/2″ wide strip to go across the card front – adhering it with Liquid Glue.  I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to an Evening Evergreen mat.

Using the fourth-from-smallest Deckled Rectangle Die, I cut a piece of the Boughs of Holly DSP – which I cut down to be about 2 1/4″ long.  Then I adhered it with Liquid Glue.

On a piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the Leaves of Holly sentiment in Real Red and cut it out with the next-to-largest Stylish Shapes circle die.  Then I adhered that with Liquid Glue, too.

Using the Dark Evening Evergreen Stampin’ Blend, I colored the stems of two Textural Elements.  Then I used the white Pearlized Enamel Effects to add large drops onto the berries.  Tip:  You ought to do this first thing when you start making this card – it takes a hot minute for these “berries” to dry.  Also?  Move them out of the way so that you don’t drop a piece of cardstock or something on them while they’re still wet.  Guess why I told you that?! 🤦‍♀️

While I was waiting for the berries to dry, I pulled out my Paper Snips and – brace yourself! – fussy cut one of the poinsettia bunches from the Boughs of Holly DSP.  I did a “hard” cut – meaning I didn’t leave a white border.  I also did NOT try to cut out all the little red berries.  I’m not totally cray cray!! 🙂

Once the berries had dried, I used Liquid Glue to adhere them to the card front.  Then I added a Double Loop Linen Thread Bow with a Glue Dot.

I adhered my fussy cut poinsettia with a few double-stacked Black Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I stuck in a few Gold Holly Leaves and a couple of boughs cut with dies from the Holly Berry Dies from Evening Evergreen Glimmer 12″ x 12″ Specialty Paper using Liquid Glue.

Finally, I added a Red Rhinestone Jewel to the middles of the flowers – and around the card front and sentiment and the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped a second Leaves of Holly sentiment in Real Red on a Basic White panel.  In the corner I stamped the small detailed holly leaf from the Leaves of Holly set twice in Evening Evergreen.  I stamped the fill image in stamped-off-once Evening Evergreen.  Then I used my Real Red Stampin’ Write Marker to add some dots around the stamped images.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to an Evening Evergreen mat and into my Cherry Cobbler card base, popped the card front on with Black Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Leaves of Holly leaves and Real Red dots on the front…

…and more of the Boughs of Holly DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  The Boughs of Holly DSP is about the prettiest paper ever, don’t you think!?  It’s such a wonderful starting point for a Christmas card – what’s more Christmas-y than poinsettias and holly?  Well – maybe pine boughs…oh, wait – the Holly Berry Die set has THOSE, too!  Wow!  Add in the images and sentiments from Leaves of Holly – and a little pine-y embossing from the Wintry 3D Embossing Folder and…winner winner!!
