Stampin’ Up! Let’s Set Sail for the Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop

Good morning, y’all – welcome to another edition of the Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Team blog hop!  Each month we make projects centered around a theme – and this month our theme is “Celebrate Summer”!  We can interpret that any way we want – so…be sure to check and see everyone’s projects – we’ve got a bunch of talented ladies hopping with us this month!

When we were on Maui last “summer” – we went on a sail-catamaran for our snorkelling trip and it.  Was….WONDERFUL!  So…when I saw the theme – the Let’s Set Sail bundle came to mind right away!  And I pulled some Hues of Happiness DSP for an ocean-y feel.  Take a look-see:

The layout I used was inspired by the sketch challenge over at the Just Add Ink challenge.

And – since sailboats rely – at least part of the time! – on wind…the CASology challenge seemed right.

I started by adhering a piece of the Hues of Happiness DSP on a piece of Night of Navy cardstock for the card front.

Then I cut another piece – in “ocean” colors – and used a square Stylish Shapes die to cut the point in the end.  First I measured the width of the strip and marked the middle of the short side.  Then I placed the square die to cut the point.

I placed the top Acrylic cutting plate over just the half of the die that I wanted to cut.

I did the exact same process with a slightly larger piece of Night of Navy cardstock to make a mat.  I used Liquid Glue to adhere the DSP to the mat and then to the card front.

I used the third-from-largest circle die in Stylish Shapes to cut a dark piece of the Daffodil Delight paper from Hues of Happiness.  Using a Wink of Stella Glitter Brush, I “watercolored” streaks onto the circle using Crushed Curry ink.

I stamped some birds from Let’s Set Sail in Night of Navy and then adhered my sun to the card front with Liquid Glue.

On a piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the boat in Night of Navy and the two sail images in Granny Apple Green and Daffodil Delight.  Then I used the bundled Sailboat Punch to cut each of the pieces.

I adhered the boat to the “sun” with Liquid Glue and then popped the sails on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

On a piece of Basic White, I stamped the Let’s Set Sail sentiment in Daffodil Delight and cut it with a Stylish Shapes banner die.

I tied a little bow from Starry Sky twine from the 2022-2024 In Color Baker’s Twine pack and adhered it with a Glue Dot.  Then I adhered the sentiment over the top with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I added a few Fine Sparkle Adhesive Backed Gems and the card front was done.

On the inside, I stamped the Let’s Set Sail boat in Night of Navy on a piece of Basic White cardstock.  Then I added the water image in Pool Party (DO stamp in this order – it’ll make a lot easier to make the boat end up ON the water and not hovering above it.  Ask me how I know this!).  I added the Granny Apple Green and Daffodil Delight sails and some Night of Navy birds.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Night of Navy mat and into my Pool Party card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Let’s Set Sail boat on the front…

…and more of the Hues of Happiness DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I vote we all head to Maui and then Let’s Set Sail on the wide open Pacific – what do you say!?  And – I bet you thought Hues of Happiness DSP was ONLY good for flower-dy cards, didn’t you!  Well – nope! 😉

I hope you like!
