Stamps-N-Lingers! Home Again Home Again – Final CO Trip Pics!

Hey y’all – well, we made it home!  It was an uneventful trip – but…Looooooooooooooooooong!  Sheesh.  I feel pretty confident that someone moved Colorado further west since we were there last! 😳😳

Before I show you a few more pics from the trip – I wanted to whet yer whistle for a cool Stampin’ Up! Special coming on 21 June (that’s next Tuesday!)!  It’s for ONE DAY ONLY and it’s a phrase that sparks JOY in all our hearts….

That’s right – for ONE DAY ONLY – Stampin’ Up! is offering ALL of us (that means us Demonstrators, too!!) FREE shipping on orders subtotaling $75 or more (that’s before tax is added on).

Here’s the deets:

  • Free shipping applies after the qualifying amount has been met.
  • The minimum qualifying amount to receive free shipping is $75 (before tax).
  • If you are using a coupon code or product credit, please remember that they will lower the order’s retail amount. The order must still meet the qualifying threshold to be eligible for free shipping.
  • Free shipping only applies during the 24-hour period the promotion is live; this means that the order must be opened and closed on 21 June 2022.
  • With the exception of month-to-month Paper Pumpkin subscriptions, all Stampin’ Up! products qualify for the promotion
  • Prepaid Paper Pumpkin subscriptions are eligible for FREE shipping under the same rules as all other Stampin’ Up! items during the promotion.
  • Month-to-month Paper Pumpkin subscriptions are NOT eligible for free shipping. Subscriptions billed and shipped this month will be charged for the normal amount ($23.50 USD shipping included) + tax.
  • The free shipping promotion does not cover the additional cost for expedited shipping.

Got it??  Good – now…start getting your lists ready.  Free Shipping is NOT to be missed!!

Okay – thought I’d share a couple three more pics from our trip!

On the morning of our departure, we let Finn sit outside while we finished packing the van.  It was very early – our goal was to be pulling out of the driveway as soon as it was light enough for us to be able to SEE the deer – so…around 5:30.

Finn kept vigil for us.

The moon was rising over the tree tops while we loaded up – and it was a still and beautiful Colorado morning!

Once we headed down the road, we got a selfie!

Okay – it was a BAD selfie!  Sorry!

Then Finn assumed the position…

He’s a seasoned traveler now and it shows!

Denver was waking up as we got down the mountain…

And we passed the famous Red Rocks Outdoor Amphitheater – considered one of the best concert venues in the world – and where I saw John Denver in a solo acoustic concert when I was in college.  Best.  Concert.  Ever!

Here’s one of the first town signs in Kansas.  Can you tell it’s right on the border of Colorado and Kansas?  Yes – they put a LOT of effort into coming up with their town name!  Guess Coloransas just didn’t cut it…

In case you’re not aware – Kansas is…HUGE.  I mean – not “the sun has riz and the sun has set and you ain’t outta Texas yet” huge but…it FEELS like it!

We managed to stay awake thanks to the attention-keeping properties of a GINORMOUS bag of Nearly Naked Popcorn that Rosie and Tom gave us when we went to breakfast the other day!!

…and a stop at a Braum’s Ice Cream once we got into Oklahoma helped, too!

Tip:  if you can find a Braum’s (it’s kind of a TX, OK thing but…they might be other places, too) – get a Candy Bar Swirl with Chocolate Yoghurt, Strawberry sundae topping and M&M’s.  They mix it all together into….well.  Pure yum-ness!! My flying partner at Altus AFB  from a thousand years ago introduced me to that particular combo and I’d been wanting it again ever since.  It did NOT disappoint!  🙂

On the second day of the trip, we went as far as Hot Springs to visit Wayne’s family for a minute.  Finn was a most gracious host!  That’s Danny – Wayne’s younger brother!  Perhaps you can see the resemblance?!? 😉

We went to dinner and left Finn in the hotel by himself – his first time for that!  He had his food.  And his water.  And he never said a word.  I’m pretty sure I was more anxious about it than he was! 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

That night – he showed his sleeping versatility.

Any sofa will do, Mom! 😉

Our last day was long.  I am totally done with riding in the car.  Everything hurt by the time we hit the GA border – which is when time (and the van, apparently) sloooooooowed down and it was taking like…20 minutes to drive a mile.  I am NOT kidding NOR am I exaggerating.

Much.

The popcorn bag came out again, as you should have guessed!

Finn was not disturbed nor plagued with any such aches and pains – or aggravation with how LOONG it was taking to GET THERE ALREADY!

Like I said – seasoned traveler!!

Anywho – we’re home – found all to be well – the ponies safe and happy, the veggie garden growing – if needing a little more water than we’d scheduled (it’s been blazing hot here!) – and the house clean and tidy thanks to Miss Sonya!  So – we’ll spend today climbing back into the saddle (and on the treadmill – bleh!) and the routine! 🙂

Finn Fan Fix

I have a confession to make.

Ready?

I can’t count.

Yes – it’s true.  I know this to be true because if I COULD count, I would know that a dog born on 17 July 2016 would be SIX on 17 Jul 2022 – NOT SEVEN!

I SHOULD have used my fingers.

Which is what I did yesterday.

So – I was totally getting ahead of myself when I wished him happy SEVENTH birthday!

The GOOD News is that that means he’s YOUNGER than I thought and we’ll have him around MUCH LONGER than I’d feared!! 🙂  YEAH!

Now a quick funny thing.

This is my Mom’s dog Addy – you “met” her the other day.  She weighs about 10 pounds.  She is LITTLE.

Which made it stinkin’ hilarious when the 85 pound Aussie decided to….

…get “in” her bed! 😂😂😂😂

“In” is such a….STRONG…term!

Goofy goofy SIX year old dog!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰

  1. Glad you are home safe and sound. I have thoroughly enjoyed your time-away posts and look forward to your “lives” again. Yes, there is quite a facial resemblance with Wayne and his bro’. Have a beautiful Sunday.

    • stampsnlingers

Yep – they’re peas in a pod!! Thanks, Karen! 🙂

  2. Glad that you all made it back home safely! 3 days in the car is a REALLY long time! Bet that Finn was glad to be back home since it’s clear that you were forcing him to sleep in that tiny 10 pound dog bed. 😉

    • stampsnlingers

Yes – he was terribly abused! 🙂 Thanks, Amy! 🙂

  3. Good to have you home and glad you made it safely. I did enjoy your adventures though. Your posts are always so entertaining, and I look forward to them.

    • stampsnlingers

So glad you enjoyed them, Barbara! Thank you! 🙂

Hi Mary, I’m glad you all made it back safely from Colorado! Thank you for sharing your pictures & stories from the trip! I too have made that long journey. My husband & I & our youngest of 4 moved from Littleton, CO to Charlotte, NC in 2002, then my husband & I moved back to Colorado Springs after we retired. Then last week I drove from Charlotte to Colorado again to help my daughter & her 2 dogs, Prince & Bella (both black lab mixes) move back to Colorado. Bleh! So I understand very well how tiring that drive can be! Also, I recognized the Red Rocks picture as we lived 15 minutes from that beautiful amphitheater for 20 years & I definitely recognized that Kanorado sign on I70 because it makes me chuckle every time I see it. All of this is to say I appreciate that you shared your stories of your trip, I understand the challenges of making that trip & I love seeing those pictures of Finn!

    • stampsnlingers

Oh. My. Goodness! That is WAY too many times going back and forth. And forth and back! Yikes!! Glad you enjoyed the memories! Thanks! 🙂

  5. Ware Parrish

Ah Braums, also miss Whataburger! Lived in Texas 18 years! Glad you are home safe and sound

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks so much, Ware! Maybe one day those will move to where we are! 🙂

  6. Faith Simpson

Hey Mary, so glad you made it home!! Glad all is well. Was Finn glad to see ‘home’ again??
I’m glad to know Finn-y is only 6…..yaaaaay. He is one year older than Buffy. Did Addy ever decide to like him? Maybe not after he took her bed!! So funny.
    Faith

    • stampsnlingers

Of course she decided to like him – like…the day before we left! Which I predicted! 🙁 She didn’t even mind him “borrrowing” her bed for a bit! Thanks, Faith – I’m glad he’s only six, too! 🙂

  7. Bonnie Kasjaka

Thank you for taking us on your tip from Georgia to Colorado. It was fun seeing Finn throughout the trip. You’re right he is a seasoned traveler. Glad your back home safe and sound. I have really enjoyed your card making talents. Thank you for sharing.

    • stampsnlingers

Thank you, Bonnie – glad you enjoyed the pics!! 🙂

  8. Bernie

    Hi Mary,
I am dying here. When I first saw your selfie, I was wondering what or who was in the back behind Finn. I thought that it looked like a gray haired lady and thought you wouldn’t be putting your mom back there -gasp. Looked again, is it a decoration or a toy for Finn, I wondered. Finally really enlarged the screen to see that it was a white garbage bag with red tie! OK, look a5 the smallest screen that you have, squint, and tell me you don’t see it now. 😂😂😅😂😅😂🤣
And my cats are larger than your mom’s dog!

So glad that you arrived home safely. What is the distance between houses?
    Bernie

    • stampsnlingers

LOL – I had a cat that was bigger than Addy, too! And – I appreciate that you didn’t think I’d stick my Mom in the way back of the van! But – I can sure see why you’d have had to look closer!! Thanks, Bernie! 🙂
