Stampin’ Up! Dandy Garden Wishes Penned for a Friend with Video Tutorial

Good morning and happy Sunday!  Did you remember to set your clocks forward before you went to bed last night – or…did you have to do it this morning and discover that you’d “overslept”?!  I hate when I forget to do it the night before – it throws me off for the whole day!  And also confuses the heck out of me when my clocks don’t all match up! 🤷‍♀️

My card today uses another one of the cool bundles that’s included in the Savings Are in Bloom special promotion going on right now thru the end of March.  The Garden Wishes stamp set and bundled Dandy Wishes die set is gorgeous atop some Hand-Penned DSP!  Take a look-see:

If you were able to join me last night for my YouTube Live video, I appreciate you spending part of your weekend with me.  If not, and you’d like to see how to make this super easy and pretty easel card, here’s the replay!

The layout for this card is from the TGIF sketch Challenge!

And the color palette is from the Global Design Project color challenge.

I started with a card-front-sized panel of Mint Macaron paper from the Hand-Penned DSP pack that I ran thru my Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Machine with the largest Stitched With Whimsy die in place.  I adhered the panel to the front of a Mint Macaron card base using Liquid Glue.

On a narrow piece of Shimmery White cardstock, I water-colored a simple Balmy Blue wash.  I used the flat large brush in the Water Painter set and ink from the lid of the stamp pad.  Tip: you’ll want the wash to be centered between the DSP strip and the right edge of the panel and don’t make your brush TOO wet.  Use the lowest setting on your Heat Tool to help speed up the drying process.  Or, you know – go get a snack! 😉

When the panel was dry, I used Liquid Glue to adhere it to a Garden Green mat.  Then I adhered the strip of Hand-Penned DSP right to the edge with more Liquid Glue.

I used the dies in the Dandy Wishes set to cut both stemmed dandelions and the two grass shapes from Garden Green.  I also cut a second large dandelion in Mint Macaron and Balmy Blue and then the medium “petal” in Mint Macaron and the smallest “petal” in Balmy Blue.

I adhered the first dandelion to the watercolored panel – that’s the one on the right.

I trimmed the stems from the Mint Macaron and Balmy Blue die cuts.  Then I adhered the Mint “petal” to the second Garden Green dandelion with Liquid Glue – it’s lined up exactly with the petal.

I lightly curled the other petals and then adhered them with Liquid Glue – they’re offset as you can see in the picture below.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the dandelion to the card front.  Then I added the two grass die cuts at the bottom – I trimmed the stems so they wouldn’t show below the grass.

I stamped a sentiment from Garden Wishes in Balmy Blue on a piece of Shimmery White cardstock and cut it with the next-to-smallest Tailor Made Tags die.  I popped it onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Using my Dark Mint Macaron Stampin’ Blend – I colored a length of Whisper White 1/2″ Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon.  Then I tied a bow with it and adhered it to the sentiment tag with a Glue Dot.

I added some Rhinestone Wave Basic Jewels in various sizes and blues and the card front was done!

For the inside, I colored a small “patch” of Balmy Blue on a Shimmery White panel using my Water Painter.  Then I stamped the little fly-away-dandelions in stamped off THREE times Balmy Blue twice over the top.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Garden Green mat and then into the Mint Macaron card base and the card was done.

My Basic White Medium Envelope got more of the fly-away dandelions in Balmy Blue on the front…

…and a little more Hand-Penned DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I really love this Garden Wishes Bundle from the 2021-2022 Annual Catalog and was really REALLY glad that this BUNDLE came back as part of the list of sale bundles during the Savings Are in Bloom Promotion!  And – the wunnermus Hand-Penned DSP is the perfect backdrop, don’t you think?!  I also love how the Stitched With Whimsy adds just a little bump to the card front. 🙂

I hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

Sometimes when Finn joins me on the sofa, it’s just cuz he loves me and wants to snuggle for a minute.

But – many times, it’s cuz I’ve got my dinner.

And he knows I can maybe be a soft touch.

Yeah.  Soft touch is valid.

Soup. About 3 licks left. But…he’s nothing if not thrifty – not a lick will be listed! Thanks so much, Karen! 🙂
