Stampin’ Up! Penned Boughs & Blossoms for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Good morning, y’all!  It’s Thursday – which means it’s time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop!  We’ve got a color challenge to work with and I’m excited to see what everyone brings to the table – I just know you’re going to see a ton of awesome-ness on the hop today!

When I saw the colors I thought of the pretty Highland Heather paper in the Hand-Penned DSP, so that became the foundation for my card today!  I added some flowers, leaves and a sentiment from the cool Boughs & Blossoms Bundle.  Take a look-see:

Yes – it’s a PUNCH BUNDLE!  I love punches, don’t you?? 🙂

Here’s our color challenge!

The layout for this card is from the Sunday Stamps challenge this week.

I started by adhering the aforementioned Highland Heather paper from the Hand-Penned DSP to a Pool Party mat with some Liquid Glue.

Next up, I cut a 2 1/2″ scalloped edge circle from Basic White cardstock, using a Layering Circles Die.

I used some Liquid Glue to adhere a Square Vellum Doily to the circle – then I adhered the whole thing to the card front.

On a piece of Basic White, I used the Petal Pink ink pad and a Sponge Dauber to color and stamp three Boughs & Blossoms flowers – I stamped two of the four-petal flowers and one of the second image.  Then I fussy cut each flower.

I used the bundled Bough Punch to cut two larger leaves from Pear Pizzazz and four of the smaller boughs (I decided the smaller punched shape is a “bough”!) from Pool Party cardstock.

I made the sentiment by stamping the Boughs & Blossoms sentiment in Highland Heather on a piece of Basic White, then cut it out with the smallest skinny die in the Stitched Rectangle Die set.

I adhered one leaf and two boughs and two of the flowers with Liquid Glue on the top left side of the white circle.  Then I adhered the remainder of the leaves and boughs with Liquid Glue on the lower right side.

I tied a small bow from a length of Pool Party 3/8″ Sheer Ribbon and adhered it with a Glue Dot.  Then I adhered the sentiment over the top with double-stacked Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Finally, I adhered the final flower – letting it overlap the sentiment – using double-stacked Dimensionals.

I added some Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewels and the card front was done.

On the inside, I did a little masking – first I stamped the two flowers from Boughs & Blossoms onto sticky notes and cut them out to make a mask.  In the bottom right corner of a Basic White panel, I stamped the larger flower in Petal Pink.  Then I put its mask over it and stamped the second flower in Petal Pink.  Then I added ITS mask (so…both masks are on!) and stamped the bough image a few times in Pool Party.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Pool Party mat and into my Thick Basic White card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Basic White Medium Envelope got more of the Boughs & Blossoms flowers and boughs on the front…

…and more of the Hand-Penned DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  The Hand-Penned DSP is just…gorgeous, isn’t it?  I sometimes forget about all the wunnermus things – like DSP! – that are in the Annual Catalog when we’re working with the goodies in a mini catalog – like the Boughs & Blossoms stamp set with its Bough Punch.  But…don’t be like me!  Be sure that you take a swing thru the “big catalog” every once in a while and use THOSE things on your projects!

I hope you like!
