Stampin’ Up! Grassy Grove for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Good morning, y’all!  It’s Thursday – which means it’s time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop!  We’ve got a sketch challenge to work with and I’m excited to see what everyone brings to the table – I just know you’re going to see a ton of awesome-ness on the hop today!

I flipped our sketch because I really had a hankering to use the Grassy Grove Bundle – that big frame die has been calling my name (and I “saw” it as the front of the card as soon as I saw our sketch!).  I put it atop some wintry New Horizons 6″ x 6″ DSP and added a Special Moments sentiment to make a pretty (or handsome – it would work equally well for a guy!) birthday card!  Take a look-see:

And here’s our sketch.

I also played along with the Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge!  I went across the top and down the side column!  Winter-Birthday-Blue and Blue-Animal-Free (Sparkle). 🙂

I started by adhering a piece of one of the cool, wintery designs from the New Horizons DSP directly to the front of my Evening Evergreen card base with Liquid Glue.

I cut the large frame die in the Grove Die set out of a piece of Misty Moonlight cardstock and again from a slightly smaller piece of Night of Navy Ombre Specialty Paper.  I adhered the sparkly paper right to the card base with Liquid Glue – offsetting it a little so that it would create a sparkly shadow…

…when I popped the Misty Moonlight over top with Black Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Before I added the Misty Moonlight panel, though, I cut a large deer and two babies from Basic Black cardstock, using the dies in the Grove Die set.

I adhered the large deer – and one baby – to the card front over the Ombre paper – using Liquid Glue.

Then I popped the Misty Moonlight panel on with the Black Stampin’ Dimensionals – offsetting it as I mentioned earlier to create a shadow.  I LOVE the depth that this gave the card – and the illusion of a family of deer wandering thru a wintry forest!

I stamped a Special Moments sentiment in Evening Evergreen on more of the same New Horizons DSP design paper – and cut it out with the next-to-smallest skinny die in the Stitched Rectangle Die set. Just a note: Special Moments is a $100-level free product in the Jan – Feb 2022 Sale-a-Bration catalog!  I love this sentiment set.  And I love FREE just as much.  Okay – possibly more! 😉

I also cut a couple of the Grove Die cut leaves – two of the large ones and one small – from Evening Evergreen cardstock.

I adhered the leaves – and the second baby deer – to the popped-up-panel using Liquid Glue.

Next, I used two lengths of black twine from the Essentials Bakers’ Twine pack to tie a simple bow, that I adhered with a Glue Dot.

The sentiment is adhered with Black Stampin’ Dimensionals – stacked to accommodate the bow and the additional depth of the popped-up-panel.  The dimensionals on the left side of the bow is a DOUBLE stack.  The ones to the right are TRIPLE stacks.

Hmmmm – NO clue what happened to the coloring on that picture. 🤔🤔🤔

I added the sentiment and…the card front was done.

On the inside, I stamped a second Special Moments sentiment in Evening Evergreen on a Basic White panel.  In the corner, I stamped the pine trees and grassy meadow images in Misty Moonlight.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Misty Moonlight mat and into the Evening Evergreen card base and the card was done!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the wunnermus Grassy Grove trees and meadow in the Misty Moonlight on the front…

…and more of the New Horizons DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Seriously.  How much do you love this Grassy Grove stamp set – and the amazingly gorgeous Grove Dies??!  I love the deer – and the forest-frame.  And the pine trees and meadows images.  The sentiments are wonderful, too – but if you need a DIFFERENT sentiment, be SURE to check out (and GET!) the Special Moments stamp set (get it QUICK – it’ll be gone on 29 Feb.  😉 ).  New Horizons DSP – at first I wasn’t sure about it – but now…man-oh-man. I love  it – and just ordered TWO more packs!!

I hope you like!

What would you recommend to use instead of the Ombre 12×12? I love this card and want to make it for my brother, but don’t have the Ombre paper. Thank you for another GREAT PROJECT!!

    • stampsnlingers

Hey Elaine – thank you so much! 🙂 I’d use regular Night of Navy cardstock – and use a Blending Brush to add Night of Navy shadowing at the top of the panel before die cutting it! I think it’ll look great! 🙂 Happy stamping! 🙂

      • Elaine Christensen

      • stampsnlingers

LOL – no worries!! I can totally relate! Hope you can make the card for your brother! 🙂
