Stampin’ Up! It’s a Penguin Place for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Good morning, y’all!  It’s Thursday – which means it’s time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop!!  We’ve got a theme challenge to work with and I’m excited to see what everyone brings to the table!  I just know you’re going to see a ton of awesome-ness on the hop today!

I recently picked up the super-cute Penguin Place stamp set – with the bundled Penguin Builder Punch (don’t you just love punches?? I sure do!) so I decided my crittter for this week’s challenge would be Penguins!  I also used the uber-cool Merriest Frames Hybrid Embossing Folder. Take a look-see:

My layout was inspired by the sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches!

And the cool color palette is from the TGIF Color Challenge!

I started with a 3 3/4″ x 5″ piece of Basic White that I embossed in the new Merriest Frames Hybrid Embossing Folder.  Then I ran the panel back thru the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Machine with the die from the set in place to cut out the middle rectangle.

I edged the panel with my Coastal Cabana Stampin’ Write Marker.

Using the “slope” stamp in the Penguin Place stamp set – I stamped a slightly larger (3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″) piece of Basic White twice in Coastal Cabana.  I added a fee Coastal Cabana Penguin Place trees and some stamped-off-once Coastal Cabana snowflakes (making sure it all got “inside” the cutout frame in the embossed panel).

Then I popped the embossed panel over top of the stamped panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals and adhered it to a Coastal Cabana mat with Liquid Glue.

I stamped two narrow strips of Basic White with a couple of Penguin Place sentiments in Coastal Cabana and edged them with the Coastal Cabana Stampin’ Write Marker.  I adhered them to the card front – with Dimensionals and Liquid Glue.

On another piece of Basic White, using my Stamparatus, I stamped the cute little penguin from Penguin Place in Tuxedo Black.  Then I punched him out with the bundled Penguin Builder Punch.

I stamped him with a Mango Melody beak and feet (sorry – had to stray from the color challenge a bit!).

I stamped a scarf and hat in Coastal Cabana on Basic White and fussy cut them – then adhered them to the penguin with Liquid Glue.

I adhered the little critter to the corner of the frame with a Stampin’ Dimensional and a little Liquid Glue.

I used little dabs of Liquid Glue to adhere some tiny, silver Subtle Shimmer Sequins and the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped the “slope” in Coastal Cabana on a Basic White panel.  I added a third Penguin Place sentiment to an Acrylic Block – curving it to fit the curve of the stamped “slope” – and stamped it under the line.  Then I added Coastal Cabana trees and stamped-off-once snowflakes.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Coastal Cabana mat and into my Basic Black card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got more of the Penguin Place images in Coastal Cabana…

…as did the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  So…I wasn’t sure whether I’d love this Penguin Place bundle, y’all.  It’s really not my usual style or “thing”.  But…I kinda do!  This little guy is so stinkin’ cute!  And you can also stamp a sliding-down-a-hill penguin and there’s all sorts of accessories and whatnot to stamp for your projects!  AND – this bundle works perfectly with the Penguin Playmates DSP (although I didn’t need it for this card – the Penguin Builder Punch cuts out little penguin-peeps from the DSP!!)…

I love that I was able to add some pretty texture to the front of the card with the awesome and wunnermus Merriest Frames Hybrid Embossing Folder, don’t you?!?
