Stampin’ Up! Welcoming Window Flower Box Birthday Card with Video Tutorial

Good morning and happy Friday!  Again.  Time she be a flying, huh?  Hard to believe how quickly it’s passing.  Sale-A-Bration is almost over (as is the Joining Special going on – you can the deets on that down below).  My Sticky Sweet Adhesive Ordering Special is flying by – don’t miss out!  And winter is…still here.  But – as I told my bestest friend the other day – it’ll be summer before you can blink!

And – with summer comes…flowers!! If you were able to join me for my YouTube live yesterday, I appreciate you spending part of your day with me – and you saw plenty of flowers!  If not, here’s the replay!

I pulled out my Welcoming Window stamp set and bundled Window Flower Box Dies to make this pretty scene – all decked out for SpringI  The Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder helped me create a “stucco wall” and some True Love DSP gave me a floral foundation on which to build!  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one was inspired by this week’s Sunday Stamps sketch challenge.

And the color palette is from the Color Throwdown challenge.

I started with a piece – my FAVE design! – of the True Love DSP that I matted on Poppy Parade for the card front.  Then I embossed a smaller panel of Basic White in the Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder, matted it on Poppy Parade and adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.

On another piece of Basic White, I stamped one of the floral images from Welcoming Window four times in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  I used the coordinating flower stamp and stamped two of them in Poppy Parade and two in Flirty Flamingo.  Then I cut them out with the die in the Window Flower Box Die set.  I also stamped a pitcher from the set – in Flirty Flamingo and cut it out with its die.

Using the window frame, shutters and window box dies in the set, I cut Basic Black pieces.

To create the window element, I cut a small piece of Basic White (sized to fit behind the window frame) and adhered the pitcher and one of the Poppy Parade flower die cuts to it.  I trimmed the excess with my Paper Snips, then popped the window frame on top with Black Stampin’ Dimensionals (that I’d cut down to be quite narrow strips!).

I adhered the window box die cut near the bottom of the embossed front panel with Liquid Glue – then added the window and shutters.  Finally, I used Liquid Glue and Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere three of the flower die cuts.

I stamped a sentiment from Welcoming Window in Poppy Parade on a narrow strip of Basic White, snipped some banner ends and popped it over the flower box with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped a second sentiment from Welcoming Window in Poppy Parade on a Basic White Panel.  Then I added the little corner image in Tuxedo Black and the pitcher and flowers in Flirty Flamingo, Tuxedo Black and Poppy Parade.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Poppy Parade mat and into my Basic Black card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the pitcher and flowers – plus the little corner image! – on the front…

…and more of the pretty True Love DSP on the envelope flap.

Et voila!  How much fun is this Welcoming Window stamp set and bundled Window Flower Box Dies?  I can think of so many ways to use all the wonderful dies and stamped images to create cards for any occasion, can’t you??  And I love it in this color palette – with the True Love DSP lending a beautiful floral background!

I hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

So – I mentioned on my video yesterday that I was taking Katy to the vet right after for her pain medicine shot.  That’s really getting to be a frequent occurrence – like…every couple of weeks.  That, coupled with her 1 pound weight loss between the last visit and yesterday is…worrisome.  I feel the shoe getting ready to drop, y’all. 🙁  We’re going to keep doing what we can do to get food in her (we’ve got a pill to give her every 3 days to bump her appetite – I KNOW she will love that so much) and keep her comfortable.  But time is passing too quickly, I fear.

Anywho – sorry.  Her brother heard that there was a trip afoot AND that it was to his doctor (whom he LOVELOVELOVES).  So – he gave me the lips and persuaded me that he REALLYREALLYREALLYDIDWANTTORIDEWITH!  Even after I explained that he’d have to wait in the car with me. 😉

So – off we went.

HE loves to ride (a well-established factoid).  Katy, on the other hand, most assuredly DOESNOT!  And makes that painfully and annoyingly obvious by screaming her unhappiness at the top of her lungs all the way there and again all the way back.

I figure Finn must be bilingual – cuz he sure appeared to be able to follow her message.

But…it DOES confuse him.  Mom?  What the heck is wrong with her.  WE’REINTHECARANDIT’SAWESOMEAWESOMEAWESOME!!!

HE was the one who wasn’t happy when the tech came out TWICE and he didn’t get to go in AT ALL!

Total bait-and-switch!  😉

  1. Love, love, love your card! I couldn’t watch live as I was on my brother’s boat in the Estero Bay searching for dolphins…none to be seen…but red tide was causing several people to cough. I must have tough skin because NOTHING bothered me! I am sad for what Katy is experiencing but I did enjoy your commentary and pics of your handsome boy! Have a blessed day. I had one of the apple fritters this morning (I had put them in the freezer!) YUMMO!

    • stampsnlingers

Oh yum – I do love apple fritters, for sure! Glad it tasted good, my friend! I want to go search for dolphins with y’all one day!! Thank you, Karen! 🙂

  2. Pretty card Mary! Love the colors and the window scene is beautiful! Poor kitty…it does make the trip miserable for everyone when they yell a lot (we had a cat that did this too!!). Hopefully she’ll get used to it since she’ll have to go more often. 🙂

    • stampsnlingers

One can hope….but…she’s 17 so pretty set in her ways. I suspect she REFUSES to get used to it!! Thanks so much, Amy! 🙂

  3. Beth Kist

I love everything about this card – inside and out. I have all the supplies, so will be casing! Also thanks for the laugh this morning with Finn and the car ride to the vet!

  4. Gerri K

Mary, I love this card. I don’t care what direction the shutters are going. In fact, I think they look better this way.
Sorry Katy seems to be failing. It’s so hard when they aren’t feeling well.
Finn on the other hand is a hoot.

    • stampsnlingers

Right?? The symmetry… or something! Thanks so much, Gerri. And yes – it’s hard to watch the decline. 🙂

  5. Heather Heroldt

What a great take on our sketch, Mary! Love this! You’ve really shown off some great details of this bundle, I have so much I want to try myself now! Thanks so much for playing at Sunday Stamps!

    • stampsnlingers

Thank you, Heather – I really appreciate the kind words!! 🙂

  6. Mary, your window is such a great take on the SSC sketch and so very pretty with the flower box beneath it! I’m so sorry about your sweet cat Katy, such a beauty. Tough ride to the vet and back…I hope they can figure out a way to help her ease her pains. My heart goes out to you; it’s so difficult to see our dear elder pets decline. Big hugs to you all.

    • stampsnlingers

Yes – it’s hard to watch and know that it’s coming. But…I just keep loving on her in the mornings and any time she’ll let me! Thank you so much, Stef! 🙂

  7. Simply gorgeous, Mary. That’s all I can. lol Thanks for joining the fun with us at Sunday Stamps! and have a great weekend.

  8. Tara Scyoc

I like how you did the shutters opposite of the way most people are doing them. They might be backwards but it gives it a neat look that way too.
