Stampin’ Up! Peaceful Painted Poppies Gate Fold Card with Video Tutorial!

Happy Friday!!  Hope you’ve had a good week – and are looking forward to the weekend! Which I hope will be different in SOME way from the week!  Oh – hey!  You could spend part of your day tomorrow with us on our Ornate Garden FB Live Event!  Check below for the deets and a link to join the event page!!  It’ll be fun – I promise!

If you were able to join me for my YouTube video – I appreciate you spending some of your day with me!  If not, but you’d like to see the replay…here ’tis!

I used the wunnermus goodies from the Peaceful Poppies Suite – the DSP and both the Peaceful Moments bundle (the Poppy Moments Dies are BACK!!) and the Painted Poppies stamp set to make this fun Gate-Fold Card.  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one is from the CAS Colours & Sketches sketch challenge.

And the pretty color palette is from the Inspire. Create. Challenge.

And it works great with the Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge, too!  Right down the left column!

The gate fold is really easy.  I started with a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Pool Party and – along the long edge – used my Simply Scored board to score at 2 1/4″ and again at 6 1/2″.

I matted two pieces of Peaceful Poppies DSP on Blackberry Bliss card stock and adhered them to the two gates with Liquid Glue.

I wrapped a 1″ x 12″ strip of the Peaceful Poppies DSP around the card, securing it in the middle with Liquid Glue – not TOO snugly, okay?

The Peaceful Moments sentiment is stamped in Poppy Parade on an angled Whisper White rectangle from the Stitched So Sweetly die set.  Then I adhered it to the belly band with Liquid Glue.

I cut two solid flowers from a piece of Poppy Parade paper in the Peaceful Poppies DSP.  Using the splotches image in the Painted Poppies set, I added Poppy Parade texture (aka splotches!) to each flower.  Then I adhered a detailed flower die cut in Basic Black to each one (only using Liquid Glue in the middle of the detailed die cuts – letting the edges remain loose).

I cut a few flower centers from Black Foil and adhered them with Liquid Glue.

With the leaf die in the Poppy Moments, I cut three Old Olive leaves.  With the berries die in Frosted Bouquet, I cut three Blackberry Bliss berries.  These are adhered to the sentiment panel with Liquid Glue.

I lightly curled the edges of the larger flower and used Liquid Glue in the middle to adhere it over the leaves.  Then I tucked the smaller flower up under the edge, adhering it with Liquid Glue.  And that was it for the card front and belly band!

On the inside, I stamped a second sentiment from Peaceful Moments in Poppy Parade on a Whisper White panel. In the corner, I added the smaller flower image from Painted Poppies in Tuxedo Black, then stamped the large fill image in stamped-off-once Poppy Parade.  I added a few Poppy Parade splotches for some texture.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Blackberry Bliss mat and into the card base and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another Painted Poppies flower on the front…

…and a little more Peaceful Poppies DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!!  This Peaceful Moments stamp set is so wonderful – and I am really glad that the bundled Poppy Moments Dies are back in stock and available to you!  Paired with the Painted Poppies images and gorgeous Peaceful Poppies DSP – it’s just a WOW combination!

I hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

Sometimes there’s doubt about the parentage of animals.

Do they look and act more like their mother?  Or their father?

Well – with Finn, there is little doubt.

He is EXACTLY like his father.

No – not THAT father (although…yea.  They’re pretty similar!!)

The OTHER one.

I am frequently complaining to Wayne that he can – with no aid from tools of any sort – not a compass, nor a laser tape measure, nay – not even survey equipment – park a vehicle (or 3) right. Smack. In the middle of any road – anywhere.

And his son (my sweet Finn-y) – apparently inherited the trait.

Case in point.

He’s got the entire kitchen floor.  Or – gosh – the entire HOUSE!

But no.

With the precision of a NASA engineer…with his trusty slide rule…he places himself in the “aisle”.

Right. Smack. Dead. Center.

So I get to step over him – or go around the island (the looooong way!)

As his father looks on proudly!

That’s-ma BOY!!
