Stampin’ Up! Ornate Positive Thoughts for the Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop

Happy Happy Hawwmp Day!!  And this is a SPECIAL Hawwmp Day, indeed!!

My friend Angie McKenzie asked me if I’d like to join her fun new Blog Hop group called the Around the World Wednesday Blog Hop.  The idea is that – regardless of where in the WORLD a hopper is – all the blogs will be live at the exact same time!  How.  Fun.  Is.  That??

Of course, I said yes!  And this is the FIRST of our monthly blog hops!  Whoo-hoo!  We’ve got hoppers from Austria to Australia….Japan to New Zealand!  I hope you’ll sit down and spend a little time with us – regardless of where you’re at in the world – I know you’re going to see some awesome projects!

Now – each month we’ll have a theme for the hop – this one is All Things Crafty – Must Haves For Your Creativity!  Which is kind of wide open.  So…I decided to keep it simple and go with things/styles I couldn’t live without.  If you know me at all – you know Dimensionals would be on that list!  And my reverse tweezers.  And…collage cards.  I pulled all that together and used the Positive Thoughts stamp set along with a little help from the new Ornate Thanks stamp set and Ornate Layers Dies.  And – sorry – I also used the not-available-right-now-but-will-be-back-in-the-next-Annual-Catalog Nature’s Thoughts die set.  Take a look-see!

The idea for this one came from a card that we made at Sandra Hernandez’s Spring STAMPede last month…

I love that card – it is SO right in my wheelhouse – and I just notched it up a level or two!

To begin, I cut an Ornate Layers frame from a piece of Crumb Cake.  Then I used some re-positionable adhesive – these are little dots on a tape runner – to adhere the frame over a Crumb Cake panel.

I used my Stamparatus to stamp the Positive Thoughts leaves (in Mossy Meadow and stamped-off-once Mossy Meadow), the flower (in Blackberry Bliss), the butterfly (in Night of Navy) and the little fluer-de-do (in Crumb Cake) all over the two panels.  Here’s how – I stamped an image with both pieces in place – then lifted the frame off – stamped the image again in the exact same place (thanks to the Stamparatus) – replaced the frame – moved the stamp – and repeated.  That eliminated the “gap” that you get when you stamp onto two layers!

Next, I ran the bottom panel thru the die cutting/embossing machine in the Ornate Floral 3D Embossing Folder.  Then I matted the panel on Night of Navy.

I popped the frame onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals – making sure to line up all the images!

On another piece of Crumb Cake card stock, I stamped the sentiment from Positive Thoughts in Blackberry Bliss.  Then I cut it with a label die in the Stitched So Sweetly Die set.  I added a stamped-off-once Mossy Meadow leaf and a stamped-off-once Blackberry Bliss flower and popped it onto the card front with more Dimensionals.

I stamped the butterfly in Night of Navy on Crumb Cake and cut it with the die from Nature’s Thoughts.  If you have this die set from when it was available as part of the Coordination Product Release – that’s awesome!  If not – you’ll be able to get it again when the new 2020-2021 Annual Catalog comes out in June!

I adhered the butterfly with a Stampin’ Dimensional onto the card front – letting it overlap the sentiment.  With the Nature’s Thoughts dies, I cut two of the larger leaves in Mossy Meadow and adhered them to the bottom right corner of the sentiment with Liquid Glue.

Using those reverse tweezers, I tied a Linen Thread double-loop bow and adhered it over the die-cut leaves with a Glue Dot.  Then I added a few Night of Navy Holiday Rhinestone Basic jewels and the card front was done!

On the inside, I used Ornate Thanks and stamped a large sentiment in Blackberry Bliss on a Very Vanilla panel.  The smaller sentiment is in Night of Navy.  I added some leaves (in stamped-off-once Mossy Meadow), a couple of flowers (in stamped-off-once Blackberry Bliss) and some full-strength Night of Navy butterflies.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Night of Navy mat and into my Crumb Cake card base, adhered the card front with more Liquid Glue – and the card was done!

My very Vanilla Medium Envelope got more Positive Thoughts leaves, flowers and butterflies on the front…

…and another leaf on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I love this Positive Thoughts stamp set so much – and hope the fact that the Nature’s Thoughts dies are carrying over into the Annual Catalog menas that the stamp set is, too! 🙂  And – Ornate Thanks….how useful can one stamp set be?!?  I think this card is going to go to the Stamp-N-Storage Bee a Blessing Card Drive (you can read about that down below!) and this stamp set was perfectly perfect for the job.  I hope you like!

Now that you’ve seen my card, take a minute to hop thru all our projects today.  As I said earlier – we’ve got folks from across the globe…

  3. Tina Zinck

I love the “Positive Thoughts” stamp set too and use it all the time! I love how you used it on the inside of your card too! Happy to be hopping with you!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks so much, Tina – appreciate you stopping by! 🙂

  4. I’ve got a lot of hoppin’ to do…best get on my Pogo Stick or put on my bunny ears. I’ll do that after I get through drooling over your creation. My Positive set is sitting on the shelf waiting to be inked up. I wondered what the leafy dohickey was called and now I know it’s a “fleur-de-do”. I saw someone else call it freesia, but I don’t think so. Have a great day and stay safe out in the real world.

    • stampsnlingers

LOL – I suppose it COULD be a fresia – but I’d be looking for a flower! Fleur-de-doohickey. THAT sounds right! Thanks so much, Karen – happy hopping and stay safe, kiddo.

  5. Seriously Love how you finished the inside of the card!! And that linen thread bow is something I would like to try!! So Fun Hopping with you!!

thank you for sharing this beautiful card

  18. Well! You could have made this for me as it has most of my favorite elements. Stunning! Love your color choices and all the layers. Good tip for using stamparatus to eliminate that ‘gap’. I don’t do much of that layer stamping because I hate that gap. Should have thought to use stamparatus! I will get around to the rest of the hop sometime today, but HAD to start with this gorgeous creation!

    • stampsnlingers

Awww – thank you so much, Julie! Happy that you like it. And yes – the Stampapotamus is an AWESOME gap-eliminating tool! 😉

  19. Oh, my! What lovely layers of texture you have going on here with this beautiful collage. I’ve just got to get today’s “to do” list done so I can go play with that set!
