Stampin’ Up! Just Hatched Dino Days

Merry Monday, my peeps!  Back at it, heh?  Hope your week goes well and with little stress!

For some reason, I’ve been unusually drawn to stamp sets and bundles in the new catalog that seem to be oriented towards kids and babies.  That’s not my usual, but…there’ve been several that really made me smile – and buy them!

One such bundle is the cute Dino Days stamp set – bundled with the Dino Dies – and the coordinating Dinoroar DSP.  So I pulled that out for today’s sweet little new baby card.  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one was – maybe loosely? – inspired by this week’s TGIF Challenge.

And the color scheme is from this week’s Color Throwdown.

I started with one of my fave papers from the Dinoroar DSP and matted it on Mango Melody for the card front.  I used a small panel of Whisper White for the art panel.

I stamped the too-cute Dino Days dino-dude in Mango Melody and gave him some Pretty Peacock spines.  Underneath him, I stamped some fronds in Pretty Peacock – stamping a couple of times without re-inking.  That let me have “different” colors without using “different” colors! 🙂

I matted the panel on Mango Melody and adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.

To make the egg, I cut two of the dies from the Dino Dies in Whisper White.  I added some little circles in Pineapple Punch – then I used a Sponge Dauber to sponge on some Mango Melody (I got this idea from the samples in the catalog!).

On one egg shell, I stamped the Dino Days sentiment in Lovely Lipstick.  I popped that one on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I added the second shell with Stampin’ Dimensionals – then added a Dinoroar Enamel Shape – sort of like a hinge.  And that was it for the card front!

On the inside, I stamped a second (and my favorite!!) sentiment from Dino Days in Lovely Lipstick on a Whisper White panel.  Over top I added a Mango Melody Dino-guy with stamped-off-once Pretty Peacock spines.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Mango Melody mat and into a Pineapple Punch card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another Mango Melody and Pretty Peacock dino-person on the front…

…and I used a little more of that totes-adorbs Dinoroar DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I’m guessing that you can see why this Dino Days stamp set and matching Dino Dies appeals to me?  Oh – did I mention that several of the dies cut out images on the Dinoroar DSP?  I didn’t?  Well – they DO! 😉  I hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

Yesterday, we went to have Father’s Day with our friends.  As is the norm, I was tasked with deviled eggs and dessert.

Fortunately, I had a sous chef…

He tried to convince me that the sous chef gets to lick the beater…

And THEN he tried to convince me that eggs are good for dogs…

He’s pretty persuasive, really.  Also…persistent! 😉

Okay – confession time.  I put the bowl down on the floor after I’d pulled out all the egg filling!

As I’ve said – I’m not a MONSTER!!

  1. What a cute card! Love the fun colors and design. Finn definitely should have been able to taste test a full deviled egg for you…for quality purposes, of course. Poor puppy, he must be starving. 😉

Yep – his thoughts exactly! But…egg WHITES can have some…consequences?…that are problematic when he sleeps at the end of the bed. If you know what I mean! 😉 Thanks so much, Amy! 🙂

  2. Tami Hewlett

Too cute for words!!! Thanks for joining TGIF Challenges this week.

  3. Gerri K

    Adorable card!! Love it!

  4. Love that cracked egg! YOUR eggs look fantastic. What kind of a gizmo did you use?

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks, Karen! That’s an old Pampered Chef decorator – has several tips – it makes for a nice look!! And makes it look like I worked REALLY hard on the eggs! But – between that

  5. I love your loose take on this week’s sketch! And mostly, this card is adorbs! Thanks for joining in with us this week over at TGIF Challenges! OXO

  6. Kathy Fennell

Oh what a cute card! Goodies came today 🙂 can’t wait to get to this bundle. Finn looks like our Shih Tzu always did when I made eggs…”I know your going to share one of those with me, right” ? Love the plate too, depression glass? Thanks for sharing Mary! Have a good week 🙂

Whoo-hoo!! So glad your bundle got there – I know you’re going to have a ton of fun with all those goodies! I don’t know for sure about that egg dish – it came to live with us when we moved my grandfathher out of their house in CA – WAAAY back in 2001. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve used it – it’s one of my favorite things, for sure! Thanks so much, Kathy! 🙂

  7. would love your deviled egg recipe, especially if you are the one who is always “tasked” to make them! lol
    Darling card!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks Barb! Egg recipe…hmmm. I use mayonnaise. Some sweet pickle relish (Wickles if I have it), white pepper, salt and a bump of dry mustard. Smoosh it really good. Pipe it in with a decorator (I REALLY think that makes it look complicated!). Right before I set the plate out, I sprinkle Smoked Paprika over it for a little touch of color and flavor. Done! 🙂

  8. Adorably cute card! I also am tasked with deviled eggs. Mine have NO mayo. And, I am too lazy to wash another utensil, so I just smoosh mine into the shell with a fork. Also use smoked paprika. 🙂

    • stampsnlingers

No MAYO?!?! Whaaaa? That must be how it’s done in Iowa – maybe I’ll learn the recipe in my NEW MAGAZINE!!! Thanks so much for the comment AND the fun birthday gift!! 🙂
