Stampin’ Up! Fable Friends and First Steps for the Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop!

Good mornin’, y’all – welcome to another edition of Amy’s Inkin’ Krew team blog hop!  Each month we make projects centered around a theme – and this month our theme is Celebrate Spring!  We can interpret that any way we want – so…be sure to check and see everyone’s projects – we’ve got a bunch of talented ladies hopping with us this month!

I decided to make a card to celebrate the arrival of a tiny human – seemed like a spring-time activity to me!

Or…is that just racehorses…hmmm… 😉

To make my baby card, I pulled out the Fable Friends and First Steps stamp sets from the Occasions catalog.  And I set them atop some Buffalo Check plaid.  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one – as well as the color scheme – is from this week’s FUSION Challenge

The Just Us Girls Trend Challenge was perfect for the Buffalo Check background set!

And the choice of plaid for the background is from…the Cupcake Inspiration Challenge!

I started by stamping the Buffalo Check image in Mint Macaron on a Whisper White panel, using my Stamparatus.  Then, with my Dark Soft Sea Foam Stampin’ Blend and a ruler, I added lines – first with the Brush tip and then a second line right next to it with the bullet tip.

I ran my plaid-i-fied panel thru the Big Shot in the Subtle Dynamic TIEF, then I cut the panel all the way down to size and matted it on Soft Sea Foam for the card front.  I wrapped some Whisper White Baker’s Twine around the panel a couple times and secured it in the back with Glue Dots.

On a small panel of Whisper White, I stamped the sentiment from Fable Friends in Mint Macaron.  Next to it, I stamped the sweet bunny in Gray Granite – letting him spill off the top and bottom of the panel.

I punched the two left-side corners in the Detailed Trio Punch, then embossed it in the Subtle Dynamic TIEF.

With Liquid Glue, I adhered the panel to a Soft Sea Foam mat and popped it onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

On a piece of Gray Granite card stock, I stamped the little bunny again in Gray Granite.  Then I colored him with my Light and Dark Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends.  I used the Dark Petal Pink inside his ears.  And then I used the Color Lifter a little on his belly and face to add some shape.

Then – don’t be scared! – I fussy cut that bunny right out!

On a piece of Soft Sea Foam paper from the Subtles 6″ x 6″ DSP, I stamped the bunny one last time in Gray Granite.  Then I snipped out his jacket and adhered it over the bunny on the card with Liquid Glue.

I used Liquid Glue – plus a Mini Stampin’ Dimensional (cut in half!) under his ears – and adhered the bunny right over top of the stamped bunny.

I finished up with a little Whisper White Baker’s Twine bow and a few Share What You Love Artisan Pearls.

On the inside, I stamped a sentiment from the First Steps stamp set in Mint Macaron on a Whisper White panel.  Over that, I added some dots in Soft Sea Foam.  I punched each corner with the Detailed Trio Punch.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Soft Sea Foam mat and into my Gray Granite card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got some First Steps baby feet in Mint Macaron and more of the Soft Sea Foam dots on the front…

…and I added more Soft Sea Foam paper to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Shades of green bring Buffalo Check to life as a perfect plaid for baby, don’t you think?  And the sweet bunny from Fable Friends is too cute.  On the inside, I leveraged First Steps to bring it all home for baby.  I hope you like!
