Stampin’ Up! Needlepoint Vibrant Vases

Good morning!  Are you all tired from watching the Super Bowl?  Didn’t the Thunderbirds do a bang-up job with the flyover!  Spot-on-time!  We were lucky that the weather was good so they could leave the roof open!

What was your favorite commercial?  There were a LOT of really good ones – bust-out-laughing-out-loud good ones!  My fave was probably the one with Jason Bateman as the elevator operator.  Car buying worse than a root canal…worse than “the talk”….worse than a colonoscopy…. ROFL!!  And the Audi commercial…HAHAHA!!  Okay – and a few of the T-mobiles…

My card today is a Clean and Simple one, using the wonderful new Vibrant Vases stamp set – that coordinates with the Vase Builder Punch (from the Annual Catalog).  I added some Needlepoint Nook DSP.  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one is from this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

I started with a piece of Whisper White card stock that I embossed in the Subtle Dynamic TIEF, then matted on Grapefruit Grove for the card front.

To create the diagonal element, I took three strips of Needlepoint Nook DSP and adhered them to a strip of Grapefruit Grove card stock with Liquid Glue.  All the strips were longer than I needed – which made it easy to adhere to the card front with Liquid Glue – and then simply trim away the excess! 🙂

For the art and sentiment, I first stamped the flowers from Vibrant Vases in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on a piece of Whisper White.  Although there’s a “fill” stamp, I just quickly used my Grapefruit Grove Stampin’ Write Marker to color them in.  I gave the leaves a little hit with my Granny Apple Green Marker, too.  I matted the panel on Grapefruit Grove.

I stamped the sentiment in Grapefruit Grove under the flowers.  For the vase, I stamped the solid image in Balmy Blue, on another piece of Whisper White, and added the detail in Night of Navy.  Then I punched it out with the Vase Builder Punch.

I popped the vase onto the panel with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I added a tiny bow tied with Nature’s Twine with a Glue Dot and popped the panel onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Then I added a few Grapefruit Grove Share What You Love Artisan Pearls to the flowers and the card front was done!

On the inside, I added a veritable cutting garden’s worth of flowers across the bottom of a Whisper White panel, again coloring them with my Grapefruit Grove and Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Write Markers.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Grapefruit Grove mat and into my Balmy Blue card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more of the Vibrant Vases flowers across the front…

…and I added a little more Needlepoint Nook DSP to the envelope flap.  And then, when I realized I’d left a little Grapefruit Grove smudge on the back – I added some more flowers!

Et Voila!  I really love this little Vibrant Vases stamp set, don’t you?  And it’s so handy that it works with a punch you’ve maybe already got, huh?  Wait – you DON’T?!?  Well – get on that!  And, of course, Needlepoint Nook DSP is a true fan favorite for a reason!  I hope you like! 🙂

P.S.  After the game, had to change my vote on best commercial.  Loved the Budweiser Dalmatian with his lips “Blowing in the Wind” – but…BEST of the night?  Harrison Ford and his Boston Terrier in the Alexa commercial. Hands down winner!

Finn Fan Fix

Finn and I did a little more work in the craft room these past couple of days!

We concentrated on scrap card stock and used a wonderful label template from Wendy Cranford.

Wayne and I – and Finn waited in the van! – went and bought some sheet protectors from the office supply store. These are cool ones that have the holes punched right in the protector – no additional “spine” adding extra width.

I pulled up my big girl panties and dove into…

…progressing to….

Then I sorted all the big-enough-to-do-anything-with pieces into sheet protectors with labels.  Like…

The end result…

Every color has a slot with whole sheets of card stock and a sleeve with my scraps.  So…when I go to make a card – I can pull whatever I need.  I can take the sleeve over to my desk area and “shop” from it for pieces – before cutting into brand new sheets!

Oh so thrifty.  And – when I’m done, I can quickly sort the scraps back into their respective sleeves (labeled so I can tell Petal from Powder and Blushing!).  Then they just slide back into their slots.  Lots better than my previous accordion-folder system…

So.  In theory, we’ve got a leg-up on keeping the room tidied up.

And plenty of space for the man to snooze!

Fingers crossed!
