Stampin’ Up! Here Comes the Sun Let it Ride!

Happy Saturday, y’all!  Hope you’ve got some fun plans for the weekend.  We’re going to be cutting.  And chopping.

Yes, that’s right – all my Shares goodies arrived yesterday!  We got the tree and wreaths down and cleaned the house (thank God -and Wayne! – it was giving me panic knots in the my throat!).  And now – today and tomorrow are all about making big paper into smaller paper and long ribbons into shorter!  If you ordered a share – I’m hoping to get them in the mail on Monday or Tuesday! 🙂

My Mom asked me for a card for a friend of hers who’s going thru a rough time right now – and wanted woodsy/mountainy.  Along with my shares goodies…I MIGHT have ordered a FEW more products from the new catalog – and I’ve used them today to make her card.  So…I actually used elements from both the Let It Ride stamp set and the Host set called Here Comes the Sun.  And…I also pulled in the Crackle Paint Background stamp to really send it over the top!  Take a look-see:

The layout was inspired by the sketch at the As You See It challenge.

I started with a Crumb Cake panel that I embossed in the Pinewood Planks Dynamic TIEF, then matted on Mossy Meadow for the card front.

The smaller panel is Crumb Cake, stamped with the new Crackle Paint Background stamp in Crumb Cake ink.  I used my Stamparatus to make that a little easier.

The new Let It Ride stamp set, in addition to sporting some really really nice horse images, has a really great pine stamp.  So I stamped that a few times across the Crackle’d panel in Mossy Meadow.

I matted it on Mossy Meadow, then wrapped some new Old Olive Linen Thread around it a few times, securing it in the back with Glue Dots.  Then I popped it onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The sentiment, from the host-exclusive Here Comes The Sun set, contains multiple images on Crumb Cake card stock.  First I stamped the curved portion in Soft Suede.  Next is the second sentiment in Mossy Meadow.  Finally, I added the little mountains in Soft Suede.  Then I colored the mountain peaks with a non-SU! White Gel Pen.

I cut the sentiment with a Stiched Shapes Framelits circle and popped it on with Dimensionals.

I cut two little pine boughs from Mossy Meadow with the Pretty Pines Thinlits and adhered them with Liquid Glue.  A quick Double-loop bow and a True Gentleman Button, adhered with Glue Dots, finished off the card front!

On the inside, at my Mom’s request, I didn’t add a second sentiment.  Instead, I stamped more Let It Ride pine trees across the bottom of a Crumb Cake panel in Mossy Meadow.  I stamped it twice without re-inking, as you can see!

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Mossy Meadow mat and into my Soft Suede card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got more pine trees from Let It Ride across the front in Mossy Meadow…

…then I added the image just once on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I hope I hit the mark with this combination of Let It Ride and Here Comes The Sun!  And – how cool is that Crackle Paint Background Stamp!?  I LOVE it!!  Hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

Finn loves his Dad.

His Dad loves him.

Like…in “guy” ways.

Not a lot of kissy kissy lovey lovey stuff for them.

It’s roughhousing and truck riding.

And – one of their favorite things…riding the golf cart.  Checking the property for…interlopers and boogers.

They ride around with me in the evenings when I’m doing my end-of-day walk.  Finn leaps on the golf cart – ride a bit (you can see more boogers from up a little higher!) – then jumps down to walk with me – then back on the cart….repeat.

It’s a nice way to end a day…

  1. Love, love, love your card. Kate’s friend will love it too, no doubt. I went round and round about both sets and my budget won! The crackle TIEF is the bomb. I’ll save all these items, including the thread, for second quarter. Is it April yet? LOL.

    • stampsnlingers

Thank you, Karen! This is definitely one of my favorite cards – SO smack dab mid-center of my wheelhouse!! Second quarter will be here before you know it! 🙂

  2. What a pretty card! Perfect sentiment too. 🙂 Cute pictures of the two boys on the golf cart!

  3. Susan K

Absolutely hits the mark dead-center! I would have no idea what to use the crackle bkgrd stamp for and you use it perfectly– that’s why you’re the leader and I wait for you to show me how to use it all! Can’t wait to read what your mom thinks of the card…I love it!
Finn looks like he’s ready to protect Wayne from the boogers. Big buddies.

Ridin’ shotgun. The Bouvs did that in spades. Clara, however, not so much. And Sweet Thing not at all.
