Stampin’ Up! Hummingbird Humming Along Sneak Peek

Good Saturday, y’all!  Hope your weekend is shaping up to be a good one – maybe you’re headed out to do a little Christmas Shopping??  Or staying home to bake cookies?  Whatever you’re planning – I hope you enjoy the time.

I’ve got a little 2019 Occasions catalog sneak peek for you today, using the sweet Humming Along stamp set and bundled Hummingbird Framelits.  Plus I’ve used the new and wonderful Lace Dynamic TIEF and more of the Floral Romance Specialty DSP – all of which you can get for yourself on 3 Jan!  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one is from this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge!

I started with a wood-grain design in the new Floral Romance Specialty DSP and, cutting it to the same size as the front of my card base, adhered it with Liquid Glue.

The other side of that same paper is a beautiful leafy vine design, and I used it on the next up layer – matted on Balmy Blue and adhered to the card front with Liquid Glue.

For the middle layer, I took the same wood-grain paper and embossed it in the new Lace Dynamic TIEF, then matted it on Balmy Blue and adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I stamped the hummingbird from Humming Along in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on a piece of Whisper White.  I used the Dark and Light Balmy Blue and Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Blends (coming in the 2019 Occasions catalog on 3 Jan) and my Dark and Light Smoky Slate Blends and the Dark Daffodil Delight Blend to color him all in.  Then I cut him with the matching die in the Hummingbird Framelits.

The sentiment, also from Humming Along, is stamped in Mossy Meadow on the same Floral Romance Specialty DSP – then cut with the pretty sentiment label die in the Hummingbird Framelits.  I adhered the sentiment to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I added Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the hummingbird and used them to wind some Linen Thread loops – then popped him onto the card front.

I stamped two leaves in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and fussy cut them – then colored them with the Dark and Light Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Blends.  I adhered them with a little Liquid Glue and added a Petal Pink Frosted Flower Embellishment with a Share What You Love Artisan Pearl.  And that was it for the card front!

On the inside, I did another full-panel treatment with the wood-grained Floral Romance Specialty DSP.  Then I stamped the flower image from Humming Along in Mossy Meadow in the corner of more of that paper.  I colored the flower with my Dark and Light Petal Pink, Dark and Light Mossy Meadow and Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Balmy Blue mat and into my prepared Petal Pink card base – and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another Humming Along flower on the front…

…and I added more of the Floral Romance Specialty DSP to the envelope flap!

Et Voila!  I love this Hummingbird – it’s nice to see them in the winter, and the Humming Along stamp set lets us do that!  Pretty handy dandy to have the bundled Hummingbird Framelits, huh?!  And the Lace Dynamic TIEF is a wonderful way to add elegant texture to any project! Hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

Wayne’s been busy this week, putting in the radiant floor heat in the shop and apartment.

This has been a 10-year effort!  We put the piping in the slab when we built the barn some 10 years ago.  But now – we’re finally getting the hot water heater and the giant manifold hooked up and going.

Plumbing is hard work and it’s ALWAYS good to have a solid apprentice.

Wayne might have forgotten to put “must have thumbs” in the job advertisement!

But – Finn’s a trier if nothing else.

And he’s always willing to add a little levity by….sticking his schnoozle in spots it’s not really supposed to be….

Maybe he was just trying to get a better angle on what the Dad was doing?

You know – so he could do it all by his own self the next time! 😉

  1. What a pretty card Mary! Your layering is just perfect and so are your colors. Great design! Yep, if nothing else, Finn is a helper…always there when you need him and sometimes even when you don’t. 😉

    • stampsnlingers

LOL! Yes – he’s FREQUENTLY there when (and WHERE!) we don’t really need him to be! Thanks very much, Amy! 🙂

  2. Love the colors you chose. I ordered the Balmy Blue but forgot about the Mossy Meadow…I think. I can’t keep track of what I have anymore. I can’t wait til my Stampin’ Storage for Blends arrives.

    • stampsnlingers

Having that holder will help you remember what you’ve got, that’s for sure!! Thanks very much, Karen – you’ll have to pick up the Mossy Meadow Blends on your next order! 🙂

  3. Susan K

Really pretty card. I love the hummingbird and your pretty coloring of it. The loops of twine add the feeling of motion to it. Radiant floor heating–wow. Finn wants to help knowing his tootsies will stay warm!

    • stampsnlingers

Yep – it’ll be cool when it gets going! Thanks very much, Susan! 🙂

  4. Pat C.

Beautiful card, Mary. The balmy blue/mossy meadow combo is so pretty.
I think Finn may be saying “dad, let me help you with that” to Wayne. 😍

  5. Kristi

Oh Mary, this card is hummingly beautiful. Great job!

  6. Kate

    Nice little card!
    And very helpful apprentice!
