Stampin’ Up! Twinkle Sweet & Spooky Bats!

Happy Happy Hawmmp Day!

Well.  Our last event was yesterday – and I watched from my office as my guys (yes – they’re officially “my” guys!) dismantled our area.

And felt sad.

Still do.  It’s that end-of-summer-camp-and-all-my-new-friends-are-leaving feeling – remember that?  For all that I’ve been anxiously awaiting this day – I’m really going to miss this group.  I’ve done this a bunch of times, now – and…these guys have been the best.  Truly awesome professionals to work with.  And fun.  And nice to be around.  And very very good at their jobs.  Fare thee well, guys.

I always buy pizza at the end for the guys – but for this group, I also got cinnamon bread twists.

With icing!! 🙂

Yea.  That’s how much they all mean to me.

So (clearing throat….and got a little dust in my eye, I guess)…my card for the day!

I decided to do a little Halloween, with the new Spooky Sweets stamp set and bundled Spooky Bats Punch (both coming on 5 Sept in the 2018 Holiday Catalog).  I paired those with the Twinkle Builder Punch.  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one comes from this week’s TGIF sketch challenge.

I started by stamping the background image from the Spooky Sweets set onto a Whisper White panel in Mango Melody.  I stamped it a few times without re-inking.  Then I inked the image in Cajun Craze and stamped it off twice before adding it to the image.

I cut a diagonal piece of new Toil & Trouble DSP and adhered it to the bottom of the panel with Liquid Glue.  Then I wrapped a length of new Black 3/8″ Glittered Organdy Ribbon over the seam, securing it in the back with a couple of Glue Dots.

The mat is a piece of new Black Foil that I adhered to the card front with Liquid Glue.  But – before I did that, I used the Spooky Bats punch to cut 6 bats (I only used three – and saved the rest for later….but didn’t want to “waste” the Black Foil!).

I stamped the Spooky Sweets sentiment in Cajun Craze to a piece of Whisper White and cut it out with a die from the Stitched  Labels Framelits (Annual Catalog).  With a Glue Dot, I adhered a short length of the Black 3/8″ Glittered Organdy Ribbon to the back of the sentiment and then adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I cut a piece of Mango Melody card stock with the Starburst Punch as a mat for my Stitched Shapes Framelits Whisper White circle and adhered them together with Liquid Glue.  Then I used more Liquid Glue to adhere it to the card front.

With the Twinkle Builder Punch, I punched a Crushed Curry moon and some stars, as well as some stars from Mango Melody.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the moon and stars to the card front – then added a couple of Spooky Bats.  The bat atop the moon is popped on with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.

To finish off, I added a few silver Twinkle Adhesive-Backed Sequins and the card front was done!

On the inside, I added the Spooky Treats background image in Mango Melody and Cajun Craze to a Whisper White panel, using the same inking technique that I’d used on the front.  Over that, I added a few Spooky Treats bats in Jet Black Stazon Ink.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Black Foil mat (after punching some more Spooky Bats for later!) and then into my Mango Melody card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got a repeat of the Spooky Treats background and bats on the front…

…and a little more of the Toil & Trouble DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Spooky Sweets – I think that’s a very fitting name for this fun stamp set and bundle, don’t you? Those bats are so sweet (and a little Spooky, too!).  And the Toil & Trouble DSP is fun fun FUN!!  Hope you like!

Omg…love, love, love this card. Much love to Finn!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks much, Sandy. And – I’ll be seeing him real soon! 🙂

  2. Oh, Mary! If anything Halloween can be called adorable, this card is it! Love the bats, and the moon and all the stars. I really had decided to NOT get the toil and trouble, but you may have just changed my mind. I do have 14 or so children, mostly under the age of 10, who would love a card or gift box with these components.
I get the end-of-camp feeling. It is always bittersweet. You get to go home, but you hate leaving your new friends, or, maybe in this case, brothers?
    Anyway, great card!

    • stampsnlingers

Yes – like a ginormous group of brothers. Or sons…hard to say. I will surely miss them all. Thanks so much, Julie – and this little bundle and that DSP would be PERFECT for your 14 or so kids! 🙂

  3. Roberta

Love it. Lots of detail. Thanks so much for sharing the cuts. Definitely on my list.

  4. Very cool card Mary! Your images work perfectly with the sketch!! Must have been an awesome group to work with if they got cinnamon twists WITH icing!! Safe travels home, I’m sure that Finn will be in a full body wag for days once you get there. 🙂

    • stampsnlingers

I can hardly wait to hold that furry wiggle-butt, I must say. And yes – they’re definitely worth ICING!! Thanks, Amy! 🙂

  5. This is a great non-scary card. Bats are fascinating to me…I have a lot in my belfry ;0

    • stampsnlingers

I love having bats around our place! Mosquitos beware!! Thanks, Karen! 🙂

  6. Kate

I get it, babe! From that first summer at camp to the last, several work situations until the last – when you and your bro surprised me and I had more than a little dust in my eye – endings are hard. Memories enrich forever.
Oh…and the spooky card is great!

  7. Bernice P

Hi Mary, so glad to hear you are really on your way home soon…

This card is so cute… I love how you used the Twinkle Twinkle punch to use elements to go with your Holloween elements.. I would never have thought of that.. thank you for sharing..

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks, Bernice! I try to remember all the tools I have to use – and to think outside the box/suite a little. Sometimes with better results than others! 😉

  8. Pat C

What a fun Halloween card! Love that DSP, and the sequin stars too!

  9. What a fun halloween card. I love it!!!

  10. Amanda

For the DSP on the envelope flap, did you just adhere a piece and then trim it to fit the flap size?

    • stampsnlingers

Yep – run a thin line of Liquid Glue around the edge of the flap and adhere your DSP (about 2 1/2″ x 6″ works). Then do a quick trim! 🙂
