Stampin’ Up! Very Vintage for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Happy Thursday, y’all – and welcome to another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop!! Today’s a beautiful color challenge, and I hope you’ll check out everyone’s projects when you’re done here!

I pulled out one of my favorite new stamp sets – the Host-Exclusive Very Vintage set.  Didn’t use a lick of Designer Paper – just the stamp set, ink and card stock.  Take a look-see:

Our color challenge was to use Crumb Cake, Mint Macaron and Night of Navy.

I’m so happy that Mint Macaron is back, aren’t you?!

I started with a piece of Night of Navy card stock for the card base and, using the edge of my Whisper White Craft Ink Pad – scraped it across the card stock to soften it up.  I think it ended up looking like denim, don’t you?  I did it on the whole outside of the card and on the inner liner-side, too (you’ll see that in a sec).

For my front panels, I used a piece of Crumb Cake and a piece of Mint Macaron.  On the Crumb Cake, I stamped the lace image from Very Vintage in Versamark ink, then I tore the edges of the panel.  I ever-so-lightly sponged the torn edges in Crumb Cake and adhered the panel to the card front with Liquid Glue.

On the Crumb Cake panel, I heat embossed the beautiful Very Vintage flower image in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  Then I colored the flowers with my Night of Navy and Mint Macaron Stampin’ Write Markers.  I added more lace and some bees (or are those flies?!?) in Versamark, too.  The edges are torn and sponged with Crumb Cake.

I added a couple of lengths of Very Vanilla 1/2″ Lace Trim, using Glue Dots to adhere the trim to the back of the panel.

Next up, I punched a Starburst Punch shape from Vellum card stock and embossed that in the Petal Pair TIEF.  Then I lightly sponged the raised image in Crumb Cake and adhered it with a couple more Glue Dots.

The framed sentiment is from Very Vintage – I stamped the frame in Mint Macaron on Mint Macaron card stock, then added the sentiment inside with my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig.  I fussy cut the label, sponged the edges in Crumb Cake and popped it onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I tied a Billie Moan bow with Linen Thread – only using TWO large and TWO small loops (as opposed to four of each) and adhered it with a Glue Dot.  Then I added a Night of Navy Medium Baker’s Twine bow.  The final touch is a few Mint Macaron Share What You Love Artisan Pearls.  I popped the panel over the Mint Macaron mat with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card front was done!

On the inside, I added more of the Very Vintage lace image to the bottom of a Whisper White panel in Night of Navy – stamping a couple of times without re-inking.  Then I added a second sentiment and a couple more bee/flies in Mint Macaron.

I adhered the panel to a Mint Macaron mat and into the prepared Night of Navy card base with Liquid Glue and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more Night of Navy Very Vintage lace – and a couple of flying things on the front…

…and the envelope flap got a whole bevy of them! (I don’t care WHAT they are – I just thing they’re so cute!)

Et Voila!  The Very Vintage stamp set has images and sentiments that are SO in my wheelhouse – I really can’t help but love it!  You can buy this set (or any of the host-exclusive sets) starting tomorrow using Stampin’ Rewards!  Hope you like!

  1. I love the bees in this set, they are so realistic. Your card makes me realize I NEED this set! I love asymmetric layouts. The layers, lace, vellum and bow steal the show.

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks, Karen – I agree. You NEED this set! 🙂

  2. Mary, This card id absolutely stunning. I love it! However, in your instructions you mention the crumb cake panel twice and don’t say what you did to the Mint Macaron panel (unless the first one is the MM and you just called it crumb cake instead? I am easily confused!
Love these colors and you did a masterful job of using them in this card. I love the Vintage stamp set!!

    • stampsnlingers

Hmm – wouldn’t surprise me if I messed it up! I’ll double check! Thanks so much, Julie – glad that you liked it! 🙂

  3. Susan K

  4. So pretty Mary! Your layers and design are just perfect, great vintage look! 🙂

  5. Elisha Smith

I love your vintage card – beautiful! The “denim” background is so cool! Did you try dragging the white ink pad both horizontally and vertically? I’m thinking it might create the weave – maybe? Gonna have to go try it😊 Thanks for the inspiration!

    • stampsnlingers

No – didn’t try that – but now I have to!! Thanks, Elisha! 🙂

  6. saw this on facebook this morning!! Love it and I guess I have to have that hostess set. Beautifully done!
