Stampin’ Up! Abstract Garden Impressions for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Happy Thursday, y’all – and welcome to another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop!! You might have noticed the different blog header?  All us ladies-who-hop got together and decided that it would be fun to have a Joint Blog Hop once a month with the Happy Stampers Blog Hop ladies!  So…this is the first of those joint blog hops!

And – for each of them, we’re planning to have both a sketch and a color scheme to play with.  We can use the sketch or the color scheme or…both!  Fun, yes?  And it means that our projects are going to be awesome!  So, I hope you’ll check all of them out when you’re done here!

I decided to use the Abstract Impressions stamp set and the matching Springtime Impressions Thinlits.  I put them on more of the gorgeous Garden Impressions DSP.  And the resulting card – makes quite an…impression!  You knew I had to do that, huh?  Take a look-see:

I mentioned that we had a sketch AND a color scheme, yes?  Well…I used both of them!

I started by matting some gorgeous paper from the Garden Impressions DSP on Tranquil Tide for the card front.

The next layer is Crumb Cake and I used my Stamparatus to stamp the Abstract Impressions sentiment in Tranquil Tide.

Then, with the new Big Shot Embossing Mats, I embossed the beautiful Springtime Impressions Thinlits corner floral image into the card stock.  The mats include instructions – I used the sandwich for “Embossing Only”. 🙂

Once that was done, I matted the panel on Tranquil Tide.  I took a length of new Night of Navy Medium Baker’s Twine and untwisted all the strands.  I wrapped all the now-untwisted strands around the panel and tied a knot in the front – leaving some long and messy “tails’.  Then I popped the panel onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I cut two detailed butterflies with the large die in the Springtime Impressions Thinlits.   One from the same paper as the card front and one from Vellum card stock.  I adhered the two together with a little Liquid Glue along the body.  Pearl Basic Jewels add a little bling and I curled the wings a tiny bit.

I popped the butterfly over the knotted Baker’s Twine with a couple of Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals, added a final Pearl Basic Jewel by the sentiment and the card front was done!

On the inside, I repeated the layers of Garden Impressions DSP and Crumb Cake.  On the Crumb Cake layer, I used one of the flower-fill images from Abstract Impressions in Night of Navy – stamping a couple of times without re-inking.  The sentiment from the same set is stamped in Tranquil Tide.

I adhered the panels to Tranquil Tide mats and into my Crumb Cake card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got a repeat of the Night of Navy Abstract Impressions flower on the front…

…and I added more of the Garden Impressions DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I’m really having fun playing with the Embossing Mats (and know you will, too!).  It’s so cool to be able to add some of the gorgeous designs we’ve got in our wonderful Thinlits and Framelits sets, don’t you think?  And – the Springtime Impressions Thinlits do a great job embossing AND making a lovely butterfly!  Hope you like!
